Will we ever see Shayna Baszler in the WWE?

20140612-183726.jpg

When you hear the name “Shayna Baszler” typically two things come to mind. 1. Pioneer of WMMA or 2. Pro wrestling fan. Some other things might be “metal lover” or “2nd amendment supporter” anyway you get my point.

If you follow Baszler on social media(and if your not shame on you, drop whatever your doing and go do it NOW @QoSBaszler) you’ll know that she’s a huge fan of the WWE and the WWE loves her back. So the question is will she ever make the jump to the world of professional wrestling?

I mean after all she does specialize in “catch wrestling”and was one of the only females trained under the late great Billy Robinson. For those who don’t know catch wrestling is very similar to pro wrestling. In fact the beloved Daniel Bryan uses a lot of catch wrestling techniques in the WWE.

If the 33 year old Baszler would ever consider a career in pro wrestling she would fist have to “take care of a Brazilian first”. Baszler said quote “even if they (WWE) called me tomorrow I would have to tell them I have to have this fight first for the movie, the movie version of my life”
You can read more of the interview she did with fox sports 1 here http://msn.foxsports.com/ufc/story/shayna-baszler-needs-first-ufc-fight-before-considering-wwe-career-060914

The fight Baszler is referring to is of corse her UFC debut against Bethe Corriea at UFC176 Aug 2nd at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. A fight that she’s been shedding blood, sweat and tears to get for 10+ years.

There you have it ladies and Gents its possible that we COULD see “the queen of spades” in WWE in the future but first she has to become the 1 in 8-1

Oh and how about that Shayna Baszler movie? Would you watch? I know I would.

Shayna Baszler “The Queen of Hearts”???

20140611-225647.jpg

Never fear ladies and gents Shayna Baszler is still very much “the queen of spades” I mean after all we know there can only be one true “Queen of hearts” and that is none other then Natalya Neidhart. However that doesn’t mean that Baszler can’t be an honorary member of the legendary Hart Family. By the looks of it after tonight that has been made official.
Check out Natalya’s tweet https://twitter.com/natbynature/status/476919935361613825

Pictured above (and in the tweet) is Baszler with Davey boy smith Jr. The son of late great professional wrestler “The British Bulldog” (who became a member of the hart family by marrying Diana Hart).

Like they always say a picture is worth 1000 words. Can this be more proof that Baszler is getting ready for an appearance at WWE Summerslam?
Only time will tell.

Chael Sonnen announces retirement

20140611-175114.jpg

In the sports word things can change on a dime. I was literally JUST writing some stuff up on Chael Sonnen for this weeks episode of DTRTwrestling weekly and then I get a txt from fellow crew member Trevor Decker and I learn that Chael Sonnen says he’s retiring from MMA…. I mean just like that. You can read more on the story here http://msn.foxsports.com/ufc/story/chael-sonnen-announces-he-s-retiring-from-mma-after-17-years-of-fighting-061114?cmpid=traffic:partner:bleacherreport

The dude has had a hell of a career. One of his stand out rivalries of corse was against the legendary Anderson Silva. Sonnen is definitely a legend in his own right and in some ways my heart is breaking for the dude because its like he had to do what he did to stay healthy.

With Sonnen announcing retirement want does this mean for the light heavyweight title? You can expect me to discuss the Sonnen situation in its entirety this Friday on http://www.blogtalkradio.com/DTRTwrestling at 12pmPST/3pmEST

Chael Sonnen out of UFC 175

20140610-165540.jpg

It is being reported on various sites including ESPN (http://m.espn.go.com/extra/mma/story?storyId=11062115&src=desktop&rand=ref~%7B%22ref%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F%22%7D)
That UFC’s light heavyweight champion Chael Sonnen has tested positive for two illegal substances under the NSAC and will be forced out of competing at UFC 175 against the returning vitor Belfort.

According to Sonnen both these substances are for TRT (Testosterone replacement therapy)
He then went on to say that rules or rules and that if you can’t follow them you shouldn’t be fighting. He also added that fighting without these drugs in his case is unhealthy and if he can’t find another way to manage the problem he may not be able to fight anymore.

What do all of you think about the situation? Many mma stars have had this problem including Vitor Belfort himself. Should ufc change their regulations on these types of drugs? Sound off let me know.

I will be discussing this manner in greater detail this Friday on http://www.blogtalkradio.com/DTRTwrestling 12pmPST/3pmEST
stay tuned until then catch you next time.

Jessamyn Duke’s next fight announced.

20140610-125815.jpg

It was just announced via @Armbatnation that Jessamyn Duke’s next fight will take place 7/16/14 on UFC fight night. https://twitter.com/armbarnation/status/476449617542778880

Her opponent? Leslie smith. Both these ladies are coming off losses they suffered in April. Duke against Corriea and Smith against Kaufman, so one can assume both these ladies are looking to bounce back. It should be a great fight. Get ready to load up fellow “Gun Club members. We mean business.

Exciting news for members of “the Gun Club”

20140609-233318.jpg

You know those nights when you’re too excited so sleep is non exist? Well tonight is one of those nights for me. Not only me but all members of “the Gun Club” it was JUST ANNOUNCED via twitter by “the gun” herself that there’s going to be a fight announcement coming soon

That’s right ladies and gents Jessamyn Duke is once again stepping foot in the octagon sometime in the near future. We last saw Duke in the octagon on April 26th at UFC172 in which Duke came up short(if you even want to call it that) against Bethe corriea who will later take on Duke’s training partner Shayna Baszler Aug 2nd at UFC176 in Los Angeles CA.

Now you may recall shortly after that fight I posted a piece stating that this was only the beginning, she will one day be a threat to Rousey’s title(I still firmly believe that by the way) and that the #JessMovement lives!
Well this announcement proves my point. So who do you guys think her opponent will be? One things forsure whoever it is will have their hands full because all of us should already know “Don’t play with Guns”

ROH about to get “filthy”?

20140608-171201.jpg

It is being reported various sites including TMZ that UFC fighter Tom Lawlor better known to his fans as “filthy” could be joining the wrestling promotion known as “Ring of Honor” (ROH). Apparently Lawlor made an appearance for the organization sometime last month as a manager of reDragon duo and a permanent deal has been in the works ever since. UFC gave the fighter their blessing for him to work in ROH during his downtime. It is believed that Lawlor will continue managing the duo with the possibility of eventually getting in the squared circle.

The deal is apparently close to being finalized and if all goes well Lawlor will appear at the ROH “Best in the World” ppv later this month. For a full article on this story click here http://m.tmz.com/#Article/2014/06/08/tom-lawlor-roh-wrestling-ring-of-honor-ufc

What do you guys think about this situation? Do you love it? Do you hate it? For me as a fan of pro wrestling and MMA I for one think its pretty cool. Should off let me know what you think in the comments bellow

UFC 173 results

Yesterday on May the 24th 2014, The MGM Grand in Las Vegas was home to UFC173. The card was stacked and fight fans were definitely in for a treat. The most stand out fight of the night however would have to be the bout between TJ Dillashaw and Renan Barao. After an impressive 4 rounds Dillashaw landed a TKO victory in the 5th round defeating Barao and becoming the new UFC Batamweight Champion. Dillashaw is now looked at as a top contender and is now on the horizon of great things.

How can I not talk about the dominating performance by my boy Daniel Cormier against long time friend and Mentor Don Henderson. That fight was pretty much one sided. Cormier threw Henderson around like a rag doll. He finished off the fight in the 3rd round via rear naked chocke. Cormier’s performance last night definitely earned him a title shot in the near future. Wether it’ll be Jon Jones or Alxander Guffeson remains to be seen.

Another notable fact is that even though Jamie Varner was handed a TKO lost courtesy of James Kruase no one can take away the fact that Varner was fighting with a broken ankle he sustained midway in the fight. If that’s not a heart of a champion I don’t know what is.

For the people who saw UFC173 go down did you enjoy it? Let us know, and while you’re at it feel free to check out the results of the full card here

Words from a member of the Queens Army

20140518-130640.jpg

For the people that think I’m moving to fast or that I’m absolutely nuts for selling my WWE memorabilia just to get a ticket to UFC 176… A fight that could very well last a min to 15 mins. Let me try to sum up what’s in my head so maybe y’all can better understand.

8 months ago I got into the sport known as WMMA. It was Shayna Baszler who first caught my attention when she completed on the ultimate fighter season 18. It’s because of her that even after she lost her fight on the show I continued to watch and that led me to loving and respecting Ronda Rousey, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. Thus my love for the #4Horsewomen was born.

So what happens next you ask? After the show I went on YouTube watched all of Baszler’s fights that were available to me along with interviews. It was there that I found out that this women has been clawing her way to the top for over a decade. She fought at a time when there was no such thing as weigh ins, no blood testing and in a time where WMMA was non existent in the UFC. Fast forward a bit and you’ll see that I’ve had the chance to interview Baszler twice, we’ve had to many twitter conversations to count AND I’ve met her and when I did I found out her and Jessamyn adore me and actually watch my videos. How cool is that?

Now put all of this into my perspective. Add all of this with the fact that Shayna was suppose to debut twice already but due to TWO injuries she couldn’t. Those debuts were suppose to take place in Vegas and Canada. (Way out of my budget). Now everything is aligned and she’s making her debut in LA. Only a few towns away from me. You can’t tell me that’s not fate.

So you see ladies and gents. I have to be at this fight. It’s like the crowning moment for me as a fan. Sure I may have not been there for Shayna’s climb as it was happening but I know what it took for her to get to this moment. Me being at this fight is the ultimate thank you to Shayna Baszler for always busting her tale and being 100% real. It’s a thank you for getting me into the sport and a thank you for in someways changing my life forever.

I will do everything in my power to be at that fight. Win or lose (but we all know its gonna be a win) I’ll be able to say I was there when Shayna Baszler’s hard work and dedication has finally payed off.

Like she says “me and my army will march on and continue to conquer mercilessly. There will be many who jump on and off the ship to hell and back. To those who stay I will reign in blood and you will be greatly rewarded. To those who don’t we will not save you”

I believe in my heart. Come aug 2nd 2014 is the day I will be rewarded. Shayna Baszler will be the 1 in Bethe corriea’s soon to be 8-1 record

Love and respect,

From a loyal member of the queens army (Vanessa @GreatLove91)
