Speculation As To The Reason Behind Lacey Evans’ WWE Departure

Lacey Evans is officially gone from WWE after her contract reportedly expired after August 15. During the latest “Wrestling Observer Radio,” Dave Meltzer weighed in with what possibly led to her departure.

“I remember when she was in ‘NXT’ and she was brought to the main roster, she had that giant push at first,” Meltzer recalled. “She got the real big push at first. Then she would get the weekly vignettes and not a push at all. It was the craziest thing ever. But a lot of her lack of exposure had to do with Vince being gone because Vince was her proponent.”

Ever since Vince McMahon stepped back from being the head of creative in July 2022, Evans’ television time has decreased. At the beginning of this year, Evans was repackaged with a military gimmick similar to that of Sgt. Slaughter, but it only resulted in her picking up a couple of squash wins. Evans lost her last three televised matches this year, with her final one airing on “WWE SmackDown” in June.

The 33-year-old first signed with “WWE NXT” in 2016 and took part in the 2017 Mae Young Classic. She transitioned to the main roster at the start of 2019 and entered at number one in that year’s women’s Royal Rumble match. Her biggest feud came later that spring against Becky Lynch for the “Raw” Women’s Championship. Evans also made history alongside Natalya that year when they took part in the first WWE women’s match at a Saudi Arabia event. Her last high-profile feud took place in early 2020 when she turned babyface and challenged Bayley for the “SmackDown” Women’s title.

Lacey Evans Gone From WWE

Lacey Evans is no longer with WWE, as Dave Meltzer reported today, that she is done with the company. No further details were given.

Evans first joined WWE in 2016 and trained at the Performance Center before being assigned to NXT for development. Three years later, Evans was brought up to the main roster where she had numerous start-and-stop pushes and character changes.

Her latest match was with Zelina Vega last month. Evans hasn’t been particularly involved in a storyline with her in recent months.

Fans began speculating that Evans was referring to her counting the days until her WWE contract expires when she shared a meme with the words “How Many Days Left” on social media.

Later, Evans changed her social handles to LimitlessMacey. Over the past 24 hours, she also started using her real name, Macey Estrella.

Daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter Is Not Happy About Lacey Evans’ New Look

The daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter is not happy with Lacey Evans’ new look.

As seen on Friday Night SmackDown, Evans came out wearing a drill instructor cover, similar to what Sgt. Slaughter wore during his heyday. Although he never served in the military, Slaughter’s gimmick is inspired by the United States Marine Corps. Evans enlisted in the Marine Corps at the age of 19 and served for 5 years.

Slaughter’s daughter tweeted, “No. This is NOT okay. @WWE Who the f**k does @LaceyEvansWWE think she is?!? There’s only 1 @_SgtSlaughter, there’s only 1 Slaughter Daughter, and she’s just a poser.”

Evans responded, “Your daddy’s biggest fan. A United States Marine. And a bad Mfer. you know who I am. And where to find me.”

The official Sgt. Slaughter Twitter account has been retweeting fan comments accusing Evans of “identity theft” and calling her a “fraud.”

Sgt. Slaughter tweeted at Lacey that she has pissed off his daughter.

“Lookout @LaceyEvansWWE You’ve Got @_sgtdaughter Pissed. She’s One Tough MF’er. I Know Jarhead I Trained Her, & Like ME, She Takes NO Prisoner’s ”There’s Only 2 Ways Out Of Camp Slaughter, On YOUR Feet or In A Ditty Bag, An Itty, Bitty, Ditty Bag” YO JOE.”

Lacey responded back:

“Between your hips and her ability, the chances of anyone in your bloodline to put me in a bag is 0. When you birth someone who can carry your legacy or take me out, call me. Until then, salute me. Like the real Marine I am. Rah.”

WrestleVotes reported today that Slaughter previously turned down WWE’s offer to be part of vignettes for Evans in January:

“Adding to the Lacey Evans / Sgt. Slaughter story… back in January WWE asked Sarge to appear in the Lacey return vignettes, where he would “teach” & pass down the Cobra Clutch. Slaughter adamantly denied any involvement.”

Lacey Evans Hints At WWE Return Being Imminent

While an official date hasn’t been announced, Lacey Evans has teased a return to WWE being right around the corner.

It appears as though Lacey Evans might be nearing a return to WWE. After going on leave to have another baby, Evans teased a return to the company and potential in-ring action being not far off when she answered a fan on social media asking when she’d be back. Evans noted, “Tell her I’m coming,” followed by an hourglass emoji.

The video was of a young girl opening a Christmas stocking and a Lacey Evans action figure being inside, which absolutely delighted the young female fan. The mother of the child tagged the video and wrote, “she asked when Lacey would come back” to which Evans responded that she was coming soon and teased her return was right around the corner. Evans didn’t give an exact date and WWE hasn’t promoted her return to either Raw or SmackDown, but the Royal Rumble is not far away and Evans gave birth to her new baby in October.

Instagram posts in early November showed Evans was training in the ring and with the 2021 calendar year almost over and some of WWE’s top talents potentially being removed from shows due to ta COVID outbreak, one has to wonder if WWE pushes up Evans’ return or if something is scheduled.

Crown Jewel To Feature First-Ever Women’s Match In Saudi Arabia

WWE announced on Wednesday that Natalya and Lacey Evans will face-off tomorrow at Crown Jewel in the first-ever women’s match to take place in Saudi Arabia.

The news was made official during a press conference at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh.

This move is a big one for WWE, as the company has caught major heat from fans for their shows in Saudi Arabia over women not being allowed to perform at the events. WWE has been trying to change that and it led to Renee Young joining the announce team in Saudi Arabia last year.

It also almost led to Natalya wrestling there in June against Alexa Bliss, but Saudi officials decided against it during the final hour.

“I never thought I’d have the opportunity to do the things I’ve done with [WWE]. Tomorrow I get to show my little girl that hard work can bring you to history-making heights. I’m ready for this,” Lacey Evans tweeted in reaction to the news.

“The world will be watching. I am so incredibly proud to represent our women’s division tomorrow night at #WWECrownJewel. It’s time to bring your best, Lacey,” Natalya added.

It looks like new SmackDown Women’s and RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch could be feuding with Lacey Evans next.

After Lynch came to the ring to cut a promo on her WrestleMania 35 main event win over Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair during tonight’s post-WrestleMania RAW episode, Evans interrupted and walked the ramp like she’s been doing for several weeks on WWE TV. They met at the bottom of the ramp and stared each other down until Evans rocked Lynch in the mouth. Evans then turned to walk back up the ramp but Becky attacked her from behind. The two brawled up the ramp and to the stage. The segment ended with Evans standing tall and taunting Lynch while officials held The Man back.
