WWE Changing Kurt Angle’s Opponent For WrestleMania 35 Farewell Match?

According to the @WrestleVotes account on Twitter, the “Farewell Match” for Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 35 could be changing.

The Twitter account, which has broken multiple WWE stories in the past, is reporting that due to the overwhelmingly negative response to Baron Corbin being announced as Angle’s final opponent inside the squared circle for WWE, the company is considering changing things up.

There is no word yet regarding whether or not WWE is committed to changing Angle’s opponent for next month’s big event, or if they do, who that new opponent will be (although John Cena has been rumored for a while now).

We will keep you posted if-and-when new information regarding Kurt Angle’s “Farewell Match” at WrestleMania 35 surfaces.

Kurt Angle’s Brother Arrested After Assaulting Youth Wrestler At A Tournament

While the Kurt Angle Farewell Tour seems to be going well, another member of the Angle Family isn’t generating applause and standing ovations for his actions.

Kurt’s brother Eric is mired in controversy after the video below of him went viral on Tuesday. Eric, who is a junior wrestling coach, can be seen on video picking up a 12-year-old boy by the neck and then throwing him to the ground at a wrestling meet.

The six-second clip was posted to Facebook after Saturday’s Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Championship in the Angles’ hometown of Pittsburgh.

When the video starts, the kid can be seen walking towards Angle while taking off his headgear. Once he reaches Angle, the 51-year-old then puts both hands around the kids neck, lifts him a foot off the ground and then throws him to the ground. Angle can then be seen yelling at the kid as the clip ends.

After the video went viral, Angle was arrested and faces simple assault charges. The charges were filed by the University of Pittsburgh police as the wrestling meet took place on their campus.

Angle went to Facebook and said he was trying to keep the child from messing up and made things worse.

“I should have just walked away and let him get thrown out. Instead, I’m the one who embarrassed myself even more,” Eric Angle told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.

Pittsburgh Junior Wrestling is cooperating with investigators, Action News 4 reports.

Eric Angle first surfaced in WWE in 2000 to help his brother in a feud against the Undertaker. He then signed with WWE’s developmental territory, OVW, before making his WWE return in 2003 to again help Kurt.

He was released in 2003 and did a short tour of the indies before retiring from in-ring competition. He runs Angle Elite Wrestling School in Pittsburgh.

Kurt Angle Accepts Shelton Benjamin’s WrestleMania Challenge

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin had reached out via Instagram to express his personal interest in becoming Kurt Angle’s opponent for his retirement match at WrestleMania 35.

Although their relationship has seen many up and downs since it’s inception, Benjamin and Angle first appeared on WWE TV together in the latter part of 2002, when Shelton joined “The World’s Greatest Tag Team” alongside Charlie Haas and their mentor at the time, Kurt. Under Angle’s tutelage, Benjamin & Haas won their first tag team championships just a month after their debut and they would go on to be two-time champions before the team went their separate ways.

Angle has now responded to Benjamin’s challenge with a simple but enthusiastic, “I’m game!”

We will keep you updated in to tomorrow night’s WWE RAW to see if this is the actual direction that WWE creative will take Angle’s retirement storyline.

John Cena Teases Big WrestleMania 35 Match?

John Cena took to Instagram today and posted a rare throwback photo of WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, fueling speculation on a Cena vs. Angle match at WrestleMania 35.

Cena has used his Instagram account to tease feuds in the past. He posted several photos of The Undertaker, also with no captions, leading up to their match at WrestleMania 34.

Cena would be a good fit for Angle’s last opponent because of the history that they have. Cena debuted on WWE SmackDown back on June 27, 2002 by answering an open challenge from Angle. Cena lost that match but it began his historic WWE run.

As noted, Angle announced on last night’s RAW that he will have his farewell match at WrestleMania 35 next month. For those who missed it, Angle mentioned in a post-RAW interview that names discussed for his last match included Cena, AJ Styles, WWE United States Champion Samoa Joe, Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin and WWE Intercontinental Champion Bobby Lashley.

There has been speculation on a Cena vs. Joe title match for WrestleMania 35, but Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Cena vs. Joe was not the plan for WrestleMania 35, at least as of a week ago.

Police have found the 16 year old niece of WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. 16 year old Marjani Aquil was reportedly abducted by her ex-boyfriend on Wednesday night. Police later found her around midnight at a home. Officers forced their way inside of the home and rescued Aquil, who was taken to the hospital for the treatment of minor injuries. Angle thanked fans for their support on Facebook.

Angle wrote, “My niece has been found. Just wanted to say thank you to all those who have prayed and have shared posts to help locate her. Thank you to the Pittsburgh Police for your persistence in finding my niece. My family is truly appreciative. Love you all.”

Police found the suspect, 19 year old Jermaine Laquay Rodgers, hiding in the cellar of the same home they found Angle’s niece in. A stand-off with police lasted just over two hours after a SWAT team entered the home and took him into custody. Police found another missing juvenile in the home, as well as a resident. Police say Rodgers broke into Aquil’s home on Wednesday night, assaulted her and forced her into a red sedan. An Amber Alert was issued at 8:14pm and canceled at 1:34am. As noted, this was the second time Rodgers had kidnapped Aquil in the past year as he was on probation for a January 2018 incident.

Image result for RAW GM Kurt Angle Suspends Ronda Rousey For 30 Days after attacking Alexa Bliss, Angle and referees

RAW General Manager Kurt Angle announced on this week’s show that Ronda Rousey has been suspended for 30 days. Rousey interrupted this week’s RAW opening segment to confront new RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss and ended up assaulting Bliss, Angle and a few referees. Angle then suspended Rousey as punishment. Rousey made it clear that she will be going for Bliss when the suspension is up, champion or not.

Below is WWE’s announcement on the storyline suspension along with a post-show tweet from Angle and an apology from Rousey:

Ronda Rousey suspended from Raw for 30 daysRonda Rousey has been suspended from Monday Night Raw for 30 days after attacking Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, two WWE officials and Raw General Manager Kurt Angle.

The incident occurred one night after WWE Money in the Bank, where Bliss caused Rousey’s Raw Women’s Championship Match against Nia Jax to end in disqualification. The Goddess then cashed in her newly won Money in the Bank contract on The Irresistible Force to claim the title.

Jax will challenge Bliss for the title in a rematch at WWE Extreme Rules. Rousey, meanwhile, will be barred from Monday Night Raw until Wednesday, July 18 — three days after that event.

@therealkurtangle I sincerely apologize for my behavior tonight…. Though you were the first to put hands on me, I shouldn’t have let my temper get the best of me….Despite the fact I was cheated, provoked, and disrespected by Alexa… i shouldn’t have been willing to go through you to get to her. I’ll gladly serve my suspension … but Alexa, know that every moment you don’t see me i am thinking of you and preparing for your comeuppance. So you in 30 days #LittleMissBish
