In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer said that Kenny Omega is likely to stay in NJPW this year but could move to WWE in 2019. Omega has already made the decision to remain with New Japan through the end of 2018.

Meltzer said that everyone’s different. While some can earn millions of dollars in WWe, others are helped by a career on the independent scene. He said that while Omega does great in the independents, his style may not be a match for WWE and it’s possible he might not succeed there.

Kenny Omega Facing Cody Rhodes At ROH Supercard Of Honor XII? Latest episode of Being The Elite

Below is the latest episode of Being The Elite, which features the fallout from Cody attacking Kenny Omega at NJPW New Beginning earlier this week. In the video, Cody and Brandi Rhodes go skiing while Matt Jackson’s wife asks him what happened in room 710. Matt said that he wasn’t ready to talk about what transpired in the room.

The end of the video features Nick Jackson looking into the future. It cuts to Colt Cabana and Ian Riccaboni at ROH Supercard Of Honor XII talking about a matchup later that night that people thought they “would never see in the history of wrestling.” Riccaboni then revealed the match: “The American Nightmare” Cody vs. “The Cleaner” Kenny Omega.

Cody and Omega have been teasing a split since last summer, when Cody attempted to “throw in the towel” for Omega during his IWGP Heavyweight Championship match against Kazuchika Okada at Dominion in June, which ended up in a draw. Omega attempted to get Cody’s wife, Brandi, to do the same during Cody’s title match against Okada the following month at NJPW’s G1 Special. Things came to a head last Sunday at New Beginning when Cody hit Omega with the Cross Rhodes following an argument after Omega lost the IWGP United States Championship to Jay White. Cody then grabbed a steel chair, but Koto Ibushi ran out to make the save for Omega and chased the Bullet Club off.

Nothing has been announced from ROH so far regarding the main event for Supercard Of Honor XII, so it’s possible that it was just a gag for the episode. Omega and Cody are confirmed to be wrestling on the show, as are The Young Bucks, Ibushi, Hiroshi Tanahashi and ROH World Champion Dalton Castle, although no matches have been officially announced yet.

ROH Supercard Of Honor XII takes place during WrestleMania weekend on Saturday, April 7th at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, LA.

Kenny Omega Explains Why He Refused To Sign With WWE

Kenny Omega NJPW Destruction in Kobe

In an interview with Tokyo Sports (via SportsKeeda), Kenny Omega spoke about reuniting with Kota Ibushi as the Golden Lovers and why he didn’t sign with WWE. He also implied that he’s no longer part of the Bullet Club. Cody Rhodes turned on Omega at NJPW: New Beginning Day 2, following Omega’s loss to Jay White for the IWGP US Heavyweight title. Ibushi came out for the save, which led to the reunion.

Omega said: “The real Kenny is always at Kota’s side. If we aren’t together, there’s no point. I want us to change the world together. I took belts with Bullet Club, did a lot, but that was all the job. Golden Lovers transcends wrestling. This is real life. As long as there was a chance for this to happen, I wasn’t going to say goodbye to NJPW.

Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega took part in a press conference earlier this morning, which you can watch in the video below, to promote their upcoming match at WrestleKingdom 12 on January 4th at the Tokyo Dome. Omega addressed the media first, and spoke for about 18 minutes before leaving.

Jericho made his way out next. Jericho only got to speak for about 3 minutes before he was attacked by Omega. They brawled briefly before being pulled apart as Jericho cursed. Jericho finally regained his composure and addressed the crowd again.

“This is going to be a match that you have never seen in New Japan,” Jericho said while breathing heavily. “This is not about five stars, seven stars, this is not about how many times you can go for your finishing move. This is a fight, it’s a war, it’s Alpha vs. Omega and Kenny, you are going to get the s–t kicked out of you, do you understand me?

“I’ve been to Japan sixty times,” Jericho continued. “This match is the most important match I’ve ever had in Japan!”

An irate Jericho also cursed at someone in the crowd, calling him “f–kface” before saying that he would prove that he’s the best in the world at Wrestle Kingdom 12. He finished by saying that their bout would be Omega’s last match ever in New Japan.

As noted, Jericho made a surprise appearance and attacked Omega at the NJPW World Tag League Final on Monday in Fukuoka. After Omega and The Young Bucks had defeated YOH, SHO & Rocky Romero, the lights went out and a video from Jericho aired, who congratulated Omega on his victory. When the lights came back on, Jericho was in the ring and planted Omega with a Code Breaker. He then hit Omega in the face with the U.S. title belt. By the time the melee was over, he had also a referee and announcer Don Callis. Jericho continued his attack on Omega and busted him open before the Young Bucks finally hit the ring and Jericho retreated to the back.

Cody Rhodes Confronts Kenny Omega After G1 Special Main Event (Video)

kenny omega cody rhodes njpw g1 special usa backstage video

The honeymoon may soon be over for Cody Rhodes and Bullet Club — because he got HEATED backstage with Kenny Omega for involving himself in the G1 Special in USA title match.

The incident occurred backstage in the press area after Rhodes lost to Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, where Omega tried to throw in the towel for him.

Kenny defended his actions and began to yell at Cody over his experience in the ring. Rhodes shouted back, “What do you know about my experience? Just because I came from the f*cking WWE?!?”

He then flipped over the press table and tried to get in Omega’s face before The Young Bucks and Brandi Rhodes intervened, separating the two.

The towel situation plays off of what happened at Dominion last month, when Cody tried to throw in the towel for Omega during his match against Okada.

Cody starts things off by announcing he’ll be in action … and following his encounter with Kazuchika Okada after the Dominion pay-per-view last Saturday, he’ll be facing “The Rainmaker” for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship on Night 1.

The ad then cuts to Omega and The Young Bucks selling Elite Cold Spray (which actually exists) before they join Cody. The Guerrillas of Destiny and Hangman Page were also promoted.

Stick around for the end of the advertisement to see a surprise celebrity cameo.

Kenny Omega Says He Will Not Be At The WWE Royal Rumble, He’s Re-Signing With NJPW

Kenny Omega appeared on Wrestling Observer Radio today and revealed that he is close to re-signing with New Japan Pro Wrestling for another year and will not be appearing at this Sunday’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

“I will not be at the Royal Rumble,” Omega said. “I don’t want people to have this false hope of me showing up in the Royal Rumble and then not being there and being disappointed when there’s a fantastic match happening with fantastic competitors. I don’t want the lack of me being in that to disappoint people.”

Omega noted that he hasn’t finalized terms for a new contract with New Japan, however he will be flying out to Japan in mid-February to re-negotiate and “it’s looking positive.” He admitted that while there’s a small chance that the deal could fall through, it’s looking like he will be staying with New Japan for one more year. He said that he still feels like there are things in Japan that are unfinished. He added that WWE’s roster is stacked and he feels like he can make more of an impact in New Japan rather than WWE.

Kenny Omega — Royal Rumble Appearance Unlikely, But He’s Not Ruling It Out (VIDEO)

NJPW wrestler Kenny Omega has commented on rumors that he’ll appear in the Royal Rumble this weekend … and while it sounds unlikely, The Cleaner didn’t rule anything out.

Omega took part in a Q&A with 4 Front Wrestling and when asked about the Rumble said, “If some of you guys are subscribers to the Network and you’re looking forward to something happening, or not happening, on the 29th … I’m not sure if I can pull a rabbit out of a hat by that date.”

He adds, “But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. I’m not saying anything. I’m just … that might be asking too much at this point in time.”

For the record though, Kenny says he’ll win the whole thing if entered into the match.

He added that he would love to work a match with AJ Styles at WrestleMania.
