Impact Wrestling has announced a new weekly one-hour TV show – Before The Impact.
Before The Impact will air each Tuesday night on AXS TV at 7pm ET, as the one-hour lead-in to the weekly Impact Wrestling flagship show.
Nashville-based sportscaster Jon Burton will host BTI. He will be joined by reporters Josh Mathews and Gia Miller.
BTI will feature exclusive match and insider views each week. It will also feature news on the pro wrestling industry with a weekly “Iceman’s Intel” segment with George Iceman. Impact’s press release noted that this segment is expected to be a highlight of BTI.
Mathews also serves as the Senior Producer of BTI.
“BTI will feature in-depth previews of the biggest matches, exclusive interviews with IMPACT Wrestling stars, behind-the-scenes access you won’t see anywhere else and an exclusive match each week,” Mathews said.
BTI will apparently also feature in-ring action. Next Tuesday’s premiere will feature a match with Team XXXL’s Ace Romero and Larry D vs. The Decay’s Crazzy Steve and Black Taurus.
Impact Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore said BTI will serve as Impact’s version of a pre-game show.
“BEFORE THE IMPACT will be IMPACT Wrestling’s version of a pregame show,” D’Amore said in the press release. “Fans have been asking for more IMPACT action on AXS TV and we’re excited to debut a new show and format with BTI.”

Ken Shamrock attacked Sami Callihan and continued attacking officials after last night’s Impact Wrestling show went off the air.
Last night’s main event saw Shamrock, Callihan, Moose and Chris Bey lose to Impact World Champion Rich Swann, Tommy Dreamer, Willie Mack and the returning Trey Miguel. After the match, Shamrock snapped and applied the ankle lock on a referee while Callihan encouraged him and taunted the official. The show went off the air after Shamrock broke the hold as other referees ran down.
As seen below, Impact released post-show footage that shows Shamrock applying the ankle lock again. Callihan yelled at Shamrock to leave and slapped him, but Shamrock then attacked him. Shamrock continued attacking officials and security as Callihan left the ring area. The post-show segment ended with Shamrock yelling about how this was his house.
It’s believed that Shamrock snapping and attacking officials, and Callihan, may be a way to write the Impact Hall of Famer off TV for several weeks, but that has not been confirmed.
AEW President & CEO Tony Khan appeared on tonight’s Impact Wrestling episode, along with several AEW wrestlers.
The opening segment on tonight’s show featured a clip of AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, Impact World Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers, and Don Callis hanging out and celebrating their main event win over Impact World Champion Rich Swann, Moose and Chris Sabin at last Saturday’s Hard To Kill pay-per-view. The clip was from backstage after Saturday’s win. Callis noted that he and Omega were headed back to Jacksonville for Dynamite and to “disappear for a while,” but he didn’t want anyone to forget what they’ve done while here at Impact. He also said that Omega and The Good Brothers were already planning what’s next and while they are taking a hiatus from Impact, they will be back.
Tonight’s show also featured an in-ring segment where The Good Brothers came to the ring to brag about last Saturday’s Hard To Kill main event. They were interrupted by Sabin, who said he wanted a rematch for the titles. The Good Brothers pointed out how Alex Shelley wasn’t here again tonight, but Sabin said he had another guy. That’s when James Storm made his return to the company. Storm and Sabin went to the ring to make a case for a title shot, but were interrupted by AEW’s Matt Hardy and Private Party. Matt praised Private Party and said they should be the ones getting a title shot. He also plugged the six-man match on this week’s Dynamite, which will see Hardy and Private Party take on Matt Sydal and Top Flight. Hardy also mentioned that he saved Impact from collapsing in 2016, and that he and brother Jeff Hardy technically never lost the Impact World Tag Team Titles.
It was then announced that the main event would feature Storm and Sabin vs. Private Party with the winners being named the new #1 contenders to The Good Brothers.
Khan and Tony Schiavone later released another “paid advertisement” segment on tonight’s Impact, but this time AEW producer Jerry Lynn was featured at Khan’s side. They plugged tomorrow’s AEW Dynamite and revealed that they were in Nashville for tonight’s show.
Shortly after the tag team main event began, Khan and Lynn brought two chairs out to get a closer look at the action. Hardy was also out as he accompanied Private Party to the ring. The finish saw Lynn interfere to help Private Party get the pin to win, and become the new #1 contenders to The Good Brothers’ World Tag Team Titles.
After the main event, The Good Brothers faced off with Private Party until Sabin and Storm attacked them. Impact went off the air after a big brawl broke out.
There is no word on when Private Party vs. The Good Brothers will take place for the titles, or if Sabin and Storm will be added to the match due to the interference.
On a related note, Swann appeared on tonight’s show and mentioned that he’s not sure if his feud with Omega is finished, but he did know that Omega was not in the building tonight. Swann then continued his feud with TNA World Heavyweight Champion Moose.
AEW has announced that Omega will be on tomorrow’s Dynamite show to “reflect on his dominance” as of late. Callis will be with him, but there’s no word yet on if any other Impact stars will be appearing.
Former two-time Knockouts Champion ODB confirmed to Chris Van Vliet that she’s returning to Impact Wrestling, and might even be able to tie in her food truck — ODB’s Meat & Greet Food Truck Co.
“I am actually getting back in the ring,” ODB said. So IMPACT obviously called me and that’s the cool thing about stuff, I’ve never burnt a bridge in wrestling. Yeah, we all have our bad moments and stuff and whatever you want to when you want to tell everyone to go F themselves. IMPACT was awesome, TNA was my home and they buzzed me and every time I’m like ‘Oh gosh. Oh boy, here we go.’
“But they were like ‘Hey, do you want to come back and see what happens? And possibly bring the food truck?’ So that’s my ultimate goal, to actually drive my ODB’s Meat and Greet into a stadium and kick some ass.
ODB wrestled for TNA from 2007 until 2014, then made some sporadic appearances for Impact in the following years.
When asked about who she’d like to face in the ring, ODB had plenty of Knockouts already on her list.
“I see that Jazz is there,” ODB responded. “No one’s ever seen me and Jazz go at it on TV. And Jordynne Grace is another good one and Taya. I love how the Knockouts are still going as the Knockouts, you know what I mean? They’re all so different and they’re keeping it good. I just love all those girls. They’re a lot younger than me but that will be fun.”
No word yet on exactly when fans will see the former champ on Impact. The promotion held its Hard to KillPPV over the weekend.
