WWE is reportedly trying to get Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to appear at the upcoming SmackDown 1000 show on October 16th in Washington D.C., according to Dave Meltzer in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

SmackDown is named after The Rock’s catchphrase and when it first started, The Rock would refer to it as “his show.” It will be interesting to see if he can make it as we reported earlier that The Rock is in London to film for the Hobbs & Shaw Fast spin-off movie with Jason Statham. The movie is scheduled to be released on July 26, 2019.

As reported earlier, an Evolution reunion with Batista, Triple H, Randy Orton and WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has also been confirmed for the show. The Undertaker, Michelle McCool, Torrie Wilson, Vickie Guerrero and WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long are also scheduled to appear.

PWInsider had reported that Rey Mysterio is also set to return to the company under his new two-year deal at the event.

WWE Hall of Famer Edge is expected to appear.

Daniel Bryan & WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. The Miz & Samoa Joe plus Asuka, Naomi & Charlotte Flair vs. The IIconics & SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch are being advertised by the arena as the show’s double main event.

The Rock’s Daughter Has Started Training At The WWE Performance Center

Image result for The Rock’s Daughter Has Started Training At The WWE Performance Center

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s daughter Simone Johnson is training on a part-time basis at the WWE Performance Center.

In the latest episode of Lilian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast, Zelina Vega talked about becoming close with Simone and revealed the 17-year-old has been training at the PC in Orlando.

Zelina detailed working closely with The Rock during the filming of “Fighting with My Family” and how Simone gave her the ultimate compliment following a shoot at The Staples Center in Los Angeles. Vega says Johnson told her, “I knew I wanted to start wrestling for sure where I saw you at RAW doing the movie. ”

Sources tell Pro Wrestling Sheet Simone has been training part-time at the PC for the past few months, mainly just occasional sessions with trainers, but there’s word going around that she’ll be starting at the facility in a more serious manner in the near future. Since she’s still in high school, it’s safe to assume that factors into her schedule.

Back in November of last year, Simone spoke about being interested in the business. At the time, she said she hoped to give it a try following graduation from college.

“It’s a sport that is unlike anything else in the world. There’s just a certain amount of passion that every move and match requires, and that’s so admirable. It’s definitely something I’ve thought about and want to pursue,” Simone said.

“The Great One” later came out in support of his daughter pursing sports entertainment, saying she’d be a future champion in the business.

The Rock Wants To Wrestle At WrestleMania 35

The Rock’s WrestleMania 29 encounter against John Cena was Dwayne Johnson’s last WWE match except for an extremely brief contest with Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32. The People’s Champ reportedly wants to wrestle once again at next year’s WrestleMania and WWE might have a big opponent for him.

Dave Meltzer spoke about The Rock’s desire to perform at WrestleMania 35 during Wrestling Observer Radio. WWE wanted The Rock to tag with Ronda Rousey against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at this year’s show in New Orleans, but they substituted Kurt Angle in Johnson’s place. If The Rock can find time in his busy schedule, then WrestleMania 35 could be a possibility.

“[The Rock] wants to wrestle at WrestleMania,” Meltzer said. “You know [WWE] wanted him last year. He was originally in the Kurt Angle position, he had filming stuff.

“If there’s a movie project or something [The Rock] has to film at that time or a week later or something it makes it difficult because of the injury risk. If he doesn’t have anything much going on I would think that he would. My impression is that he wants to wrestle, you know The Rock loves wrestling.”

The Rock suffered a pectoral injury during his WrestleMania 29 contest which caused shooting for Hercules to be delayed costing the Paramount and MGM film a considerable amount of money. Movie studios have since been leery of allowing The Rock to wrestle due to the amount of money they have invested in him.

The Rock’s name is known on a global scale and having him back in WWE could help the company in foreign markets where his movies are extremely popular. Johnson’s age could also play a factor on whether he chooses next year to wrestle once again, but at any age, he will still be The Rock.

“If there’s no movie project on the table that he wants to do and he wants to do WrestleMania I’m sure Vince isn’t gonna go, ‘hey we don’t need you, we don’t want you,” Meltzer said. “Especially [WWE] is trying to break into China because The Rock’s movies are doing just giant business in China. Even if they weren’t [doing well in China] he’s The Rock and he’s one of the biggest movie stars in the world, some say he’s the biggest, I don’t know if he’s the biggest, but he’s up there.

“Time will tell, it’s up to offers and schedules, you know? It’s not like WrestleMania is going to be the number one thing but I think at 46 [years old], he’ll almost be 47 next year, I think in [The Rock’s] mind he’s probably going, ‘if I’m gonna do another match next year might be a good time.’ Because do you really want to do it at 48, 49? Maybe, but I know he doesn’t want to go in there when he doesn’t have his speed anymore and when he’s not as good as he once was. I don’t see him wanting to be that guy… maybe he would.

“Because let’s face it he can get through anything just based on the fact that he’s technically sound and he has incredible charisma and he’s The Rock. It’s not like he has to go in there and do a bunch of really quick armdrags and things like that. He can just talk his way through a match or just basic his way through a match. But I don’t see him as a guy who wants to go in there when he’s diminished.”

Meltzer said The Rock wouldn’t come back to WWE for a bad angle either as he revealed that someone told him a match against Roman Reigns might be a possibility.

“Someone suggested to me the idea of [The Rock] and Roman Reigns in a match. At first, I thought, ‘eh it doesn’t really appeal to me,'” Meltzer said the more he thought about it, Rock vs Reigns makes sense. They have a built-in storyline due to their family heritage, and The Rock would have no problem giving his cousin the win. It would also be a huge moment in Reigns’ career as WWE keeps pushing him as the next face of the company.

“I feel like that could be something that could appeal to [The Rock],” Meltzer continued. “Again, for Roman Reigns, if they’re trying to get Roman Reigns over something big, I mean The Rock will do the job for him that’s not even a question. In [WWE’s] mind if they want to get Roman over as a big Superstar, you know that’s a match that makes sense from everyone’s perspective.”

WrestleMania 35 will take place on April 7th, 2019 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Humbly Accepts Razzie Award For Baywatch

Image result for Dwayne Johnson Baywatch

Baywatch is an award winner! Well, a Razzies winner, but Dwayne Johnson is still “humbly and graciously” accepting the award for the “s— sandwich.”

Ahead of Sunday’s 90th Academy Awards, Johnson shared his Razzies acceptance speech on Twitter. After saying he was “very proud” of the Oscar nominees, he continued, “I am also excited because I was just informed that I too am bringing home the gold tonight. No, not an Oscar — maybe one day. But a Razzie.”

Baywatch, which boasts an 18 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, earned the new and special distinction of The Razzie Nominee So Bad You Loved It!

“Here’s the cool thing: the movie was so bad that they actually had to create another category,” explained Johnson. “The new category is a movie so rotten you eventually fell in love with it. I’m not kidding, which means the s— sandwich you’ve been eating is so bad that you eventually started to like it. Look, we made Baywatch with the best of intentions, it didn’t work out like that, but I humbly and graciously accept my Razzie.”

Johnson concluded by thanking the critics and fans, summing up the Baywatch honor by saying, “That’s just the way love goes.”

The Rock Explains Why He Wants To Be President: ‘To Serve The People’

a man wearing a suit and tie: Dwayne Johnson gives the OK for his star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

Dwayne Johnson insists he’s “seriously considering”running for president of the United States.

Speaking to USA TODAY, Johnson, 45, fleshed out some of the still-murky details, acknowledging there’s still a lot to be worked out. But Johnson says he would eye the 2020 presidential election. “That would probably be the case, yes,” he says.

But “this actually never came from me,” the actor points out. “It started (with) a piece in The Washington Post, and there was this kind of groundswell.”

It didn’t hurt that the report made clear in the headline that Johnson “could actually win.”People got excited about the prospect. And that has pushed Johnson.

“So I can tell you with all honesty that the consideration comes at the desire from a large amount of people who would like to see this happen,” Johnson says. “But I mean, honestly, there are so many different variables that have to come into play when you think about this. Politics is not my business. So the consideration is there. And we’ll just have to see. I’ll continue to watch and learn as much as I can.”

His reasoning is simple: “To serve the people, and create a better environment for them.”

So there’s much to be figured out even after Jumanji hits screens Dec. 20 — not to mention major projects in motion that include another babySkyscraper (in theaters July 13) and the Fast & Furious Hobbs spinoff with Jason Statham (2019). Just to name a few things on Johnson’s famously packed schedule.

But Johnson has already shown he can be feisty with the media when it comes to specifics, declining to say whether he’d go on the Republican or Democratic ticket.

“You’re pushing it — right now, I’m an independent,” he says.

One thing that is sure: Tom Hanks can have whatever role he wants in a Rock administration. The two have already joked about this on Saturday Night Live.

“You name it, he can have it. He’s beloved, smart,” Johnson says. “That would be a good ticket. Think about it, Hanks-Johnson, Johnson-Hanks. The only issue I have with Tom is he wants his name first.”

So Hanks seriously has a spot? “If he’s interested, of course.”

But Johnson can’t think of anyone else in Hollywood he’d bring along on this political ride. Well, except for his Jumanji and Central Intelligence co-star Kevin Hart.

“Kevin Hart is going to be my court jester,” he says. “I’m bringing that back.”

Who Is Leading National Poll Between The Rock And Donald Trump For President In 2020?

Image result for Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson on Whether He Would Run for President

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson becoming the next President of the United States may not be that far-fetched. In a new poll by Public Policy Polling, voters were asked who they would support between Johnson and President Donald Trump in 2020 if Johnson were to run as a Democrat. The results were pretty convincing.

According to the poll, Johnson leads Trump 42/37. He also wins over 15% of people who votes for Trump last fall.

“36% of voters see Johnson favorably to 13% with a negative view of him, although 50% of voters have no opinion about him either way,” Public Policy Polling stated. “Both Democrats (38/15) and Republicans (31/17) see him positively.”

Talk of The Rock running for President has heated up since Trump, a WWE Hall of Famer, won the Presidency last November. Liberal filmmaker Michael Moore recently endorsed The Rock, telling Variety, “Run the Rock! Run the Rock. Who do you want for commander in chief? I want the f—ing Rock!”

In a recent interview with GQ, The Rock, who is a registered independent, said that running for President was “a real possibility.” He also talked about President Trump, and how he would do things differently.

“With any job you come into, you’ve got to prove yourself,” Rock said. “Personally, I feel that if I were president, poise would be important. Leadership would be important. Taking responsibility for everybody. [If I didn’t agree with someone] on something, I wouldn’t shut them out. I would actually include them. The first thing we’d do is we’d come and sit down and we’d talk about it. It’s hard to categorize right now how I think he’s doing, other than to tell you how I would operate, what I would like to see.

“I’d like to see a better leadership. I’d like to see a greater leadership. When there’s a disagreement, and you have a large group of people that you’re in a disagreement with—for example, the media—I feel like it informs me that I could be better. We all have issues, and we all gotta work our s–t out. And I feel like one of the qualities of a great leader is not shutting people out. I miss that part. Even if we disagree, we’ve got to figure it out. Because otherwise I feel, as an American, all I hear and all I see in the example you’re setting is ‘Now I’m shutting you out. And you can’t come.’ [Disagreement] informs us. The responsibility as president—I [would] take responsibility for everyone. Especially when you disagree with me. If there’s a large number of people disagreeing, there might be something I’m not seeing, so let me see it. Let me understand it.”

The Rock Leaves Voicemail For CM Punk To Please Audience After Raw Ends (VIDEO)

rock cm punk call voicemail after raw video

It’s been a long time, but chants for CM Punk ended in a good moment tonight after Raw in Los Angeles — because they caused The Rock to call him on the phone in the center of the ring.

Dwayne Johnson appeared in front of the live crowd after the show to direct them on which reaction shots were needed for the movie they were filming.

It was first reported last week that a scene for the upcoming flick about Paige’s life Fighting With My Family would be filmed at the Staples Center. When the scene was revealed to be Paige’s debut in WWE and Dwayne mentioned the name AJ Lee, a loud CM Punk chant broke out.

And The Rock, being a man of the people, obliged by saying he’d give him a ring.

Punk didn’t answer, so the entire Staples Center left him a voicemail, and Punk responded on Twitter shortly after the show by saying, “Thanks Los Angeles. Nice to hear from you.”
