Regarding Roman Reigns announcing his battle with leukemia on Monday’s WWE RAW, PWInsider reports that 99% of those in the company h ad no idea what Reigns was going to announce before he went out to the ring. The upper-level officials in the company, likely the McMahon family’s inner circle and Talent Relations, were the only ones who knew before the announcement was made on Monday that Reigns was ill, along with members of Reigns’ family. The announcers were not clued in to what the announcement was before it was made.

On a related note, Vince McMahon was not in attendance for Monday’s RAW.

Reigns taking time off and dropping the WWE Universal Title obviously changed some creative plans. PWInsider adds that most plans for the WrestleMania 35 main event picture are now “out the window” but as noted recently, the main event was not locked in. Reigns was still expected to be a part of one of the top matches.

Reigns’ announcement did not push up the heel turn by new RAW Tag Team Champion Dean Ambrose. That turn was planned for the future but officials decided to pull the trigger early. PWInsider adds that this was not a creative plan made at the last minute due to Reigns’ announcement but the turn was moved up.

Dean Ambrose Turns On Seth Rollins After Winning RAW Tag Titles (Video)

dean ambrose heel turn seth rollins video raw shield tag titles

As if Raw wasn’t emotional enough due to everything involving Roman Reigns, the show ended with Dean Ambrose turning on Seth Rollins after they won the tag team titles.

The Shield defeated Dolph Ziggler/Drew McIntyre after Braun Strowman interfered and brawled with McIntyre to the backstage area. While Dolph was alone, Seth hit the Curb Stomp for the win.

Ambrose and Rollins began to celebrate in the ring, but Dean dropped the title and hit his tag partner with a Dirty Deeds DDT out of nowhere. He then continued to beat Rollins down while seemingly yelling about the conversation from Raw last week where Seth called him a lunatic.

Dean Ambrose Reveals That He Nearly Died During His Time Off For Injury

Dean Ambrose was interviewed by The Monitor to promote tonight’s WWE live event at the Bert Ogden Arena in in Edinburg, Texas. Below are a couple of highlights:

Returning to WWE, nearly dying after his first surgery earlier this year:

“It’s good to get back out in front of people. I had a lot of frustration I needed to really get out that built up over the last eight months. It was a long, long period of time. Much longer than would have been anticipated.

“It was just one nightmare after another. It was a pretty challenging period of time to go through. I ended up having two different surgeries. I had this MRSA, Staph infection. I nearly died. I was in the hospital for a week plugged up to this antibiotic drip thing, and I was on all these antibiotics for months that make you puke and crap your pants.

“So it was a pretty rough time. My arm wasn’t healing correctly, and my triceps. It’s kind of an indeterminate period where I initially hurt it. I thought it was, we call it Dusty elbows. It’s a pretty typical wrestler thing. You just get this bursa sac of fluid on your elbow from banging it on the mat or whatever. I’ve had that dozens of times on both elbows. It usually just goes away. It was kind of disguised. By the time I finally went and got the first surgery, my triceps was already starting to atrophy and look weird. I wasn’t able to flex my triceps for a really long time. And then the first surgery didn’t really, something went wrong in the process. Probably due to that infection. It’s kind of hard to say when that really even got in my body. This is a long answer to your question. But for a minute there, it was getting scary. By the time I got that second surgery, it was March, I think. My arm was so shrunken and skeletal that it was weird. I hadn’t been able to move it or flex it in so long that I was starting to get scared I wasn’t ever going to get it back. To go from not being able to eat my Froot Loops, to being able to get back in the ring and throw people around and throw punches and do everything back to normal, it was a very gratifying feeling.”

How long after his first surgery when he realized that he had the infection and would need another surgery:

“It looked good. Before I went in for the first one, they were like, ‘OK, yeah, this is going to be a three- or four-month thing. You’ll jump right back.’ Once I woke up, they were like, ‘Oh man, this is going to be six months minimum. Because we went in there, and that thing was messed up. You beat it to death. It’s going to be a lot harder than you initially thought. But still, not so bad.’ They said they found traces of an infection during the first surgery, but they cleaned it out. I don’t know if it was in there previously, or if it came after. It could’ve been with me for years. I don’t know. But it was about six weeks or so after that I was like, this is not healing correctly. I didn’t have anything to compare it to, because I had never been hurt before. So I ended up going back for just a checkup. I thought I was just going to turn right back around and get on a plane and go home, and they were like, ‘No, you have to go in again for surgery like right now.’ I was like, ‘Oh, no.’ I had just kind of got through all of the stitches and all of that stuff. It was a giant mess. I just kept having to start back from square one. I ended up just moving to Birmingham just to play it safe and be with the doctor and best rehab guys. As soon as I got out of the second one, I was flying home, grabbing my dog, turned right back around, got in the truck and drove to Birmingham. I just stayed there for two and a half or three months until they felt like I was pretty good. Once the MRSA really got out of my system, I was working out twice a day. Rehabbing twice a day on top of that in Birmingham. Doing everything possible to try to get my arm working again, and once I started to come back, I started to make a lot of progress over the summer. So I’m feeling good now.”

Finding the infection:

“The tendon was attached when I went in there the second time. But there was all this goo. The environment wasn’t letting it heal correctly, I guess. I’m not a doctor. I don’t know. But they just had to scoop out all this gooey stuff. I didn’t realize how bad it was. If I hadn’t gone in for that checkup, I could’ve gotten seriously sick. It could’ve been even more dangerous. But it all worked out.”

Much more is contained in the interview, including Ambrose discussing his workout routine and diet during his recovery, staying fit while being on the road, if he kept up with WWE on TV while recovering, being injured for two months before finding out about the injury, changing his look and more. Dean Ambrose Makes WWE Return From Injury

“The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose returned to action with a new look on tonight’s SummerSlam go-home RAW from Greensboro in the main event segment, joining Seth Rollins to deliver a beatdown to Drew McIntyre and WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler. Ambrose had been out of action since December 2017 with an ACL injury.

The storyline is that the SummerSlam contract for Rollins vs. Ziggler has a clause in it that allows Rollins to have someone in his corner to even the odds as McIntyre will be in Ziggler’s corner. Rollins revealed at the end of tonight’s show that his former partner in The Shield will be there with him in Brooklyn on Sunday.

The dark main event after this week’s SummerSlam go-home RAW in Greensboro, NC saw Dean Ambrose return to the ring. Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor and Braun Strowman defeated Kevin Owens, Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre and WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler in eight-man action. The finish saw Strowman, Rollins and Balor hit finishers on their SummerSlam opponents while Ambrose hit Corbin with Dirty Deeds for the pin.

WWE announced the following update on Dean Ambrose yesterday. As noted, Ambrose went into Monday’s RAW with a right arm injury and the beatdown angle was done with Samoa Joe and RAW Tag Team Champions The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro)to cover the injury. Ambrose underwent surgery on Tuesday night, but there’s no word yet on when he will be back in the ring.

Dean Ambrose undergoes successful surgery

Dean Ambrose underwent successful surgery Tuesday night to repair a high-grade triceps tendon injury, WWE.com can confirm.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Jeffrey Dugas in Birmingham, Ala., and took around 40 minutes.

“He tore some of the distal triceps tendon where it attaches to the forearm bone, called the olecranon,” Dr. Dugas told WWE.com. “He basically tore about 50 percent of the triceps tendon away from the bone. So yesterday we repaired that back down to the bone where it tore off of. The surgery was very straightforward; we removed all of the extra bursal tissue — all of that extra swollen stuff around his elbow.”

Dugas added that Ambrose has begun physical therapy, starting with light range-of-motion exercises, and is expecting to leave Birmingham later today.

It is unknown at this time how long Ambrose will be out of action.

Dean Ambrose and Renee Young wore their wedding rings on WWE television this week after recently getting married. The couple, who are now on separate brands following this week’s “Superstar Shakeup”, had been quietly dating for years before their relationship was featured on the latest season of Total Divas.

“Maybe about six months in, he [Ambrose] and I started dating,” Renee told Channel Guide Mag last November. “I don’t even know if I can pinpoint exactly what it was. It was like instantly we were together. We were always talking to each other. We were always spending all of our time together. It just kind of happened.

“We just caught each other’s eye and were always around each other. You hear stories from like the Twins or Nattie, girls that were around prior to me being there. They told me he wouldn’t talk to anybody, ever. Then when I came around, they noticed he is chatting with me and coming to hang out with me. He is known to kind of keep to himself. That has always been his deal. I don’t know. We just hit it off. I guess he has a thing for Canadian girls; hopefully, just me.”

In another interview with Vegas Seven last month, Ambrose revealed that he’s been stalked by fans and Renee noted that she gets “many a death threat.”

Renee commented on tying the knot, writing on Twitter:

Ziggler Heel Turn, Ambrose Wins Intercontinental Title

It appears that Dolph Ziggler made a heel turn last night on SmackDown Live. After Baron Corbin defeated Ziggler, Corbin got a chair and looked to attack Ziggler, when Kalisto came down and made the save. Ziggler wasn’t very thankful as he nailed Kalisto with a superkick and said he never needed anyone. Later in the locker room he attacked Apollo Crews.

In the main event Dean Ambrose defeated The Miz for the Intercontinental Title.
