Cris Cyborg Wants To Fight Ronda Rousey In WWE

Cris Cyborg has been wanting to fight Ronda Rousey for years, but now the UFC Women’s Featherweight champ says there’s only place it should happen … in a WWE ring.

It all started when Rousey’s coach recently said in an interview that he wants Ronda to come back for a fight with Cyborg, however, Cris no longer feels the same way and outlined her idea in a blog.

She explained that they’re now both at different points in their careers and her true intention was to show the world that Ronda was beatable, which has now been seen already.

Therefore, she wants the super-fight to be a WWE affair … saying, “If Ronda is wanting to make the fight for the fans, I would still be willing to give them it, but I think it would be better to take place inside the WWE ring. For her it gets her one step closer to Hollywood and for me it would be another exciting challenge and a chance to test my athletic ability.”

For what it’s worth, the image used in her blog has the WrestleMania logo behind them (seen above).

Breaking News: Cris Cyborg vs. Megan Anderson Officially Set For UFC 214

After months of the newly established women’s featherweight division being in limbo the UFC has finally given us a match up and it’s a huge one.

Today the promotion made the official announcement that at UFC 214 Cris Cyborg will return to the octagon to take on rising star Megan Anderson.

This announcement comes after Germaine De Randamie announced that she would be going back down to 135 therefore being stripped of her tittle. Randamie became UFC’s 1st women’s featherweight champion by defeating Holy Holm at UFC208 last February.

The last time we saw cyborg in the octagon was last September when she defeated Lina Lansberg via TKO in the 2nd round. UFC214 will be the first time cyborg fights at 145 inside the UFC.

On the other side we have Megan Anderson who has been on a tear in invicta. With a record of (8-2) the Australian native is coming off 4 straight wins including her most recent win over Charmaine Tweet at invicta 21 last January. On that night Anderson became invicta’s interim featherweight champion and later became its official champion once cyborg decided to vacate the title.

With all of this in consideration this is the fight that many believe should’ve been the first featherweight match up in the UFC to begin with. Both cyborg and Anderson have been very vocal about this fight and now it’s finally happening.

The fight will take place on July 29th in Anaheim California as the co main event for Cormier vs Jones 2.

As far as Anderson’s Invicta title goes that is still up in the air. She was slated to defend her belt at Invicta24 against Helena Kolesnyk on July 15th, that is obviously no longer the case. Kolesnyk will now be taking on Tonya Evinger in a non title fight.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens to Invicta’s featherweight division after the dust has settled. Until then we have an awesome fight to look forward to and we’re definitely excited about it.

Cris Cyborg Flagged For USADA Violation And Offers Explanation

Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino was notified by the USADA that an out-of-competition drug test provided in December has come back positive for a banned substance. The collection came on December 5 and is a “potential anti-doping violation.”

The UFC released a statement Thursday afternoon:

The UFC organization was formally notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection on December 5, 2016.USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed.

Consistent with all previous potential anti-doping violations, additional information or UFC statements will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

Cyborg’s boyfriend and representative, Ray Elbe, posted a message on “The Underground” in an attempt to clear up the situation.

“Not for a steroid, and she has a prescription as part of the post fight therapy she’s been receiving due to the severe weight cut,” Elbe wrote. “This has been known for a few days, and Cris’ doctor has been in direct contact with USADA turning over all the necessary patient files to document the reasons Cris needs the medication.

“Cris had issues with her kidneys and blood pressure, and that’s part of a prescription she’s been seeking for therapy. Cris doctor works with several Olympic and UFC athletes who are also under USADA testing and this was part of the treatment given to her the Monday after the weigh-ins.

Cris Cyborg Speaks Out On Ronda Rousey, Weight-Cut;

Ask Cris “Cyborg” Justino her thoughts on Ronda Rousey or cutting weight and the Brazilian gets a little testy. Justino, the reigning Invicta FC featherweight champion, returns to the Octagon this Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 95 to take on Lina Lansberg in the main event. Over the past several days, Justino has been bombarded with questions about the cut to 140 pounds for the catchweight contest.

“I’m getting down. It’ll be OK,” she said during an interview on UFC Tonight. “This time we used birth control. I hold more water, and have less time to make 140. I think it’ll be OK. I trust George Lockhart. I hope everything will be OK on Friday.”

Reports that Cyborg has had to cut 20-plus pounds just this week have filled social media. She offered up some insight into it all and did say that she feels capable of making the signed weight.

As for her nemesis, Rousey, that is another question that continues to be presented to her. The two have long been rumored for a potential fight, though Rousey is currently sidelined.

Cris Cyborg Joins The UFC, Set To Compete At UFC 198

It’s official. Invicta FC Featherweight Champion and former Strikeforce Featherweight Champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino has joined the UFC.

The news was mentioned as a possibility a few weeks ago on UFC Tonight, as the company wanted to stack the UFC 198 card in Brazil. She’ll be on the show, taking on Leslie Smith (8-6-1) in a catchweight of 140 pounds.

A former Flyweight, Smith has competed at 135 pounds in the UFC, and is perhaps best known for her ear exploding during a fight with Jessica Eye in 2014.

The UFC released the following statement:

One of the most feared fighters in the world is finally making her way to the Octagon, as Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino faces Leslie Smith at UFC 198 on May 14.The bout, which takes place at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil, will be held at a catchweight of 140 pounds.

A native of Curitiba, the 30-year-old Justino (15-1, 1 NC) is unbeaten for over 10 years, and with 13 of her 15 pro wins coming by knockout, it’s not surprising that she has soared to the top of every organization she has competed in. Owner of victories over Gina Carano, Marloes Coenen (twice), and Shayna Baszler, the former Strikeforce champion has compiled a 5-0 record with five knockouts as a member of the Invicta FC roster.

UFC 198 is indeed a loaded show, as Fabricio Werdum defends his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic. Also on the show are Anderson Silva, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Antonio Rogerio Noguiera and Vitor Belfort
