WWE Announces Main Event Of WrestleMania 35

WWE has confirmed that the RAW Women’s Title Triple Threat between champion Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair will be the main event of WrestleMania 35.

Below is the full announcement on the first-ever women’s WrestleMania main event:

WrestleMania to feature first-ever women’s main event

For the first time in WWE history, a women’s match will be the main event of WrestleMania as the Raw Women’s Championship Match featuring Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch will take place on Sunday, April 7, in front of a capacity crowd at MetLife Stadium and streaming live on WWE Network around the world.

Ronda Rousey is the current Raw Women’s Champion, Olympic medalist, the first female UFC Champion and the first woman to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. She is also an actress and New York Times bestselling author. Charlotte Flair is a seven-time Champion in WWE, a former Division 1 volleyball player, philanthropist and author. She is the daughter of two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. Becky Lynch is the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble winner, a two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion and was named Wrestler of the Year by both Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports in 2018. She was also the first woman ever to top ESPN’s WWE Power Rankings.

At WrestleMania 32 in 2016, WWE re-branded the Divas Division the Women’s Division and unveiled a new Women’s Championship title. Since that time, the women’s evolution has placed a greater spotlight on WWE’s female Superstars, including more prominent storylines and deeper character development that showcases their athleticism, charisma and star power.

Last October, WWE held it’s first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view event, Evolution, in front of a sold-crowd and millions more watching on WWE Network.

Backstage News On The RAW Women’s Title Feud, Ronda Rousey’s Attack On Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey Claims She Went Off Script

It’s no secret that WWE has made several changes to the storyline that will end with Becky Lynchvs. Charlotte Flair vs. RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35 next month. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there are more twists to come in the storyline.

There’s no word yet on what kind of twists WWE has planned but things should really heat up after Sunday’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view when the Triple Threat is made official. Fastlane will feature Lynch vs. Flair in singles action. Lynch will be added to Flair vs. Rousey at WrestleManiato make it a Triple Threat if she wins, but she will be “done” if she loses, according to Stephanie McMahon.

WWE could go a few different ways with the finish to the WrestleMania Triple Threat but the result largely depends on Rousey’s final date with WWE, according to the Observer. As we reported earlier this week, Rousey is currently scheduled to finish up the day after WrestleMania, indicating a big blow-off at WrestleMania or possibly RAW. It’s always possible that Vince McMahon talks Rousey into a contract extension, but we’ve heard nothing on that direction.

The Observer points to how all three Superstars have tried hard to make their physical angles look legit and more real than what we usually see in WWE. We noted before that Rousey wanted Lynch to hit her as hard as she could with the kendo stick during their angle at the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. Becky did just that and Ronda needed 7 stitches to close a cut on her elbow. Flair was also left with a bunch of bruises on her arm from the Chamber attack. Rousey also asked Flair to hit her as hard as he could, over and over, when recently taking kendo stick shots from her. Rousey wanted to have real welts, bruises and blood from the attack.

Regarding the attack from Rousey to Lynch on this week’s RAW, Rousey was told to do everything she would do in a real fight at real fight intensity, but no punches or kicks to Becky’s face, and obviously not to actually hurt her. There was still a stiff knee to the face. The idea was that Becky would take Rousey’s best punishment and still show up at SmackDown the next day to fight with Flair.

The physicality of things may have actually secured Lynch’s spot in the WrestleMania storyline as The Observer points to how Lynch getting injured by Nia Jax back in mid-November could have been the greatest thing that has happened to her, at least in terms of the RAW Women’s Title. Lynch was scheduled to lose to Rousey’s armbar in their Survivor Series pay-per-view match that was nixed due to the injury, which would have greatly reduced Lynch’s chances of being in the RAW Women’s Title match at WrestleMania.

Ronda Rousey is mad as hell and she’s not going to take it anymore.

In latest episode of Rousey’s video blog road diary, Ronda on the Road, the Raw women’s champion’s cuts a promo on going off script this past Monday. Rousey claims to not only go off script but also doubles down on breaking kayfabe in her promo.

“It wasn’t a promo. [WWE] gave me other things to say I didn’t f***ing say it,” Rousey said. “It’s not a promo. It’s not an act. I’m not going out there and doing their f***ing act anymore, I’m going out there and doing whatever the hell I want. And they can explain it however they want, but f***em. Everybody. WWE Universe included. I meant that I’m going to disrespect the sport that they all love so much. ‘Ohhhh don’t break kayfabe Ronda!’ Wrestling is scripted. It’s made up. It’s not real. None of those b****** can f***ing touch me. The end.”

The origins of this video date back to last week, when Rousey and Lynch went to war on Twitter. During that particular exchange, Rousey brought up the word ‘fake’ and it did not sit well with Lynch.

Not only did Rousey go off on wrestling fans and WWE, earlier in the video she admitted she hasn’t lost sight of Becky Lynch. Rousey brought up Lynch’s real name and then explained why she attacked her on Monday night.

“Becky pissed me off the most recently,” Rousey said. “You know what? I’m not going to even call her Becky. Rebecca Quinn talked s*** about my husband, and I told her I’d beat the f*** out of her next time I saw her. And guess what I beat the f*** out of her, didn’t I? It’s been building up in me since Survivor Series, 100%”

Charlotte Flair Discusses Her Expected Return Date, History With Cosmetic Surgery

Charlotte Flair is currently out of action after needing corrective surgery when she suffered two ruptured breast implants. She was very open while speaking to SiriusXM Stars’ Conversations With Maria Menounos about her history with cosmetic surgery.

Flair’s first implants ruptured when she started wrestling so she had them fixed. She continued to describe the pain she felt as the amount of silicone built up to cause her issues outside of the ring. She finally saw a specialist who was able to reveal the true severity of the issue for her and she needed to do something about it.

“So I’m thirty-two and when I turned twenty-one I always wanted boobs. I never had boobs. I had an athletic body my whole life.” Charlotte Flair said as she continued saying, “when I started wrestling I had saline and I popped them in the ring. When I woke up the next morning and they were gone.

“Then I had them re-done so I didn’t think anything of it. Well, a couple months ago I kept having this pain behind my shoulder blade. I was like, ‘this is not normal.’ I mean I did all my stretching. I did my shoulder stability exercises that my trainer told me to do — our trainers on the road.

“I finally went to have a mammogram and an ultrasound and the doctor said I had free-floating silicone all in my chest from both implants. So I ruptured both implants is exactly what they’d call it.”

Charlotte needed to get this issue taken care of. A big problem was her busy calendar as a WWE Superstar. She had some very important dates coming up that she didn’t want to miss. Flair continued through the pain and delayed surgery in order to get to a more convenient pausing point for her.

“I said, ‘I’ve got a lot of big things coming up.’ Like I knew I had WrestleMania, I knew I had the Body Issue. I just wasn’t going to say anything I could just wait. I finally got to have them re-done a little over four weeks ago.

“I just wanted that long, but the pain just got worse. I got sick a few times like that might have been from it like the silicone had gone all the way to my armpit.”

Flair went on to reveal her expected return date of July 31st. She expressed some guilt for being sidelined for this issue although it needed to be taken care of. Flair said she will be back in the ring as soon as she can, but she needed this break.

“He said I’d be cleared July 31st,” Charlotte said concerning her expected return to the ring. “I am definitely going to work on July 31st. It’s so hard because watching the pay-per-view last night. It’s like I’m out for a not legitimate injury — I mean it’s legitimate because the silicone was [making me sick] I mean it’s dangerous but I kept thinking to myself, ‘you did this to yourself at twenty-one.’

“I know my body needed a break and it’s like ‘let the fans miss you’ or whatever. But it’s just like I’m sitting out because of my ta-tas.”

Charlotte Flair To Undergo Surgery After European Tour

Charlotte Flair

WWE star Charlotte Flair is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair a ruptured breast implant according to a new report by PWInsider.com this week.

The belief is that Flair will undergo surgery shortly after the WWE European tour concludes, which officially kicked off this week in England and Germany.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the implant was ruptured before WrestleMania 34 but Flair didn’t want to miss the match with Asuka. WWE officials wanted her to work with Carmella at Backlash and then she wanted to work the European tour that kicked off this week because of what the tour pays.

Flair is looking to undergo the operation after the two-week tour so she doesn’t miss SummerSlam. The Observer adds that she will be out of action for a few weeks after the surgery. Flair is currently scheduled to compete in the women’s Money In the Bank ladder match on June 18th but they could shoot an angle to remove her from the match.

Flair has tried to keep the accident hidden and even had photographers shoot around it during a photo shoot for ESPN’s “The Body” issue.

Flair will also be forced to miss a scheduled appearance at the AEG Comic Con in Seattle shortly after the European tour as a result of the surgery as well.

The comic convention announced Carmella as Charlotte’s replacement and later deleted the tweet announcing she was missing the event due to surgery.

It’s clear she won’t be missing the tour as she tweeted out dates of all her appearances.

The story was also picked up by The Daily Star in the UK this week.

Flair, along with Ember Moon, have now qualified for the women’s “Money in the Bank” ladder match taking place in six weeks from Chicago. The surgery isn’t expected to keep her out of the ring long, nor is she expected to miss the PPV at this point.
