Charlotte Flair Returns To WWE On SmackDown, Wins Title

Charlotte Flair has returned to WWE. Not only that, but she’s your new SmackDown Women’s Champion.

During Friday night’s episode of WWE SmackDown, “The Queen” made her return to WWE television after not being seen since WrestleMania: Backlash.

After Ronda Rousey successfully defeated Raquel Rodriguez to retain her title, Charlotte’s music hit and she came to the ring to face off with “The Rowdy One.” As Rousey taunted her and asked if she wanted a match, Charlotte accepted. But the match wouldn’t be taking place at the Royal Rumble as Rousey suggested – it’d be taking place right here, right now.

With Rousey going against the advice of Shayna Baszler to hold off, the bell rang and Flair quickly rolled Rousey over during an armbar attempt to get the 1, 2, 3.

Ronda Rousey’s reign as SmackDown Women’s Champion ends at 83 days. Charlotte Flair is in her seventh reign with the title. This also marks her 14th overall women’s title reign in WWE.

Update On Charlotte Flair’s WWE Return

Fans can expect to see Charlotte Flair back on WWE television soon, based on a new report.

Flair hasn’t wrestled since she lost the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship to Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania: Backlash in May. She then took time off for her wedding with AEW’s Andrade El Idolo.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “Charlotte Flair is scheduled to return soon.”

It’s unclear what WWE has planned for her, but she will be part of the SmackDown brand.

Update On When Charlotte Flair Could Return To WWE TV

The “SmackDown” Women’s Championship is currently held by Ronda Rousey, but the WWE Superstar she captured the title from seems poised to make a return to the blue brand this summer.

The PNC Arena in Raleigh, NC, is advertising that Charlotte Flair will be in attendance at the “SmackDown” TV taping scheduled for Friday, August 12. The venue’s official website states that Ronda Rousey, Drew McIntyre, and Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, The Usos, will be in the house. In addition, “Raw” Women’s Champion Bianca Belair will be defending her gold in a Triple Threat Match against Rhea Ripley and Asuka. The blurb then states “plus Charlotte Flair” to cap off the main introduction to the event.

WWE SummerSlam is set to take place on July 30 in Nashville, TN, two weeks before the taping Flair is announced for, which seems to indicate a return is on the horizon, whether it be leading into the big summer event, at the event, or post-event.

Flair last appeared at the WrestleMania Backlash premium live event last month, where she lost the “SmackDown” Women’s Championship to Rousey in an “I Quit” Match. “The Baddest Woman on the Planet” had been feuding with Flair after making a return to WWE following a nearly three-year absence in January. She won the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble Match and ultimately chose Flair to face at WrestleMania 38 but was controversially defeated, before the “I Quit” Match was set for the following month. WWE explained “The Queen’s” absence by stating, in storyline, that she suffered a “fracture of the radius” during the bout with Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash following the Ronda Armbar, which also involved a steel chair for added leverage.

During her sabbatical from the company, Flair tied the knot with her partner, former WWE Superstar and current AEW wrestler, Andrade el Idolo, in Mexico. “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair walked his daughter down the aisle at the ceremony, which was attended by Finn Bálor, Rey Mysterio, Apollo Crews, and former “Raw” Women’s Champion Lina Farene (Nia Jax). Flair and Andrade also went on their honeymoon following the wedding to celebrate.

Backstage News On Charlotte Flair Being Written Off WWE TV

WWE announced that Charlotte Flair suffered a “fracture of the radius” during her I Quit match against Ronda Rousey at Sunday’s WrestleMania Backlash.

Following the announcement, Fightful Select reported that the injury is “very much a storyline angle” to write Flair off WWE TV. It was further noted that Flair was taking time away from the company.

Bryan Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer reports that Flair is getting married soon, and requested time off from WWE prior to Sunday’s event.

Flair recently revealed that her wedding to AEW star Andrade El Idolo is set to place this summer.

“We have a [wedding] date. It’s this summer in Mexico, I have my dress,” Flair told BT Sports’s Ariel Helwani. “I think Manny (Andrade) would be a little angry if I walked down the aisle with my title. He was like, ‘Mami, for the wedding, I do not want your hair to look like Charlotte.’ I was like, ‘what does that mean?’ Just less makeup, he likes the fresh face.”

After announcing Charlotte Flair’s injury Sunday, Kayla Braxton asked fans to check WWE’s website for regular updates regarding The Queen’s condition.

Report Suggests Charlotte Ruining Friendships In WWE Locker Room Due To Recent Behavior

Reports keep surfacing about Charlotte’s situation in WWE. The latest is that she’s made a number of enemies backstage due to her behavior.

The Charlotte Flair reports that have her in speculated hot water with management and her fellow WWE wrestlers are only growing over the weekend. According to a new report by Wade Keller of PW Torch, Charlotte has been acting so strangely and become so paranoid about her place in the WWE pecking order that she’s lost a number of friends and Becky Lynch is being seen as a bit of a hero backstage for not letting Charlotte get away with her immature behavior.

Keller offered an update on PWTorch VIP regarding the recent situation between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch that stemmed from their segment on WWE SmackDown this past Friday. The reports suggest things have been heated backstage for a lot longer than this past Friday when Flair dropped the title belt on the mat and allegedly refused to do the angle as scripted because she thought it would make her look bad.

Keller contends that trusted sources, who don’t have anything against Charlotte, noted, “From what I’m told from people behind the scenes [is that] none of the women want to work with her.” He adds, that it’s not limited to wrestling. They don’t want to be in the same segment, in the ring, on the mic with her because they can’t trust she won’t just go into business for herself in an attempt to save face. He noted, “I don’t hear anyone defending Charlotte in this” and said that “Charlotte’s acting is gonna cause issues both with colleagues and with management.”

Keller said, “Charlotte has a reputation flat out for being difficult and constantly concerned that she’s not getting the respect that someone of her stature and accomplishment or at least her character stature and her character’s accomplishment.” As such, she’s been doing what she wants in the ring which could explain her run-in with Nia Jax a number of weeks ago and why the Lynch segment on Friday seemed so off. Charlotte has been telling people backstage the belt drop was an accident, but it doesn’t sound like people are buying it because she’s developing a pattern for acting in her own best interests.

The biggest takeaway from Keller’s comments is that Charlotte has really isolated herself from the rest of the locker room and she’s quickly losing friends backstage. She seems to think that she’s untouchable because the women’s roster isn’t as deep and WWE needs her. At the same time, she’s “in her own head and overreacting to things and over scrutinizing things.”

All the while, her former friends and the rest of the division look at her and thinks she’s no better than anyone else there. Keller said, “… this situation needs to be addressed and I know there’s people who used to like Charlotte that don’t even recognize her anymore.”

Charlotte Flair Tests Positive For COVID-19

Charlotte Flair has tested positive for COVID-19.

Flair took to Twitter last night after RAW went on the air and revealed that she has been off WWE TV recently because she tested positive for the coronavirus. Flair said she has been at home resting.

“I know everyone has been wondering where I have been. I tested positive for COVID and have been home resting [folded hands emoji] Thank you everyone for your love [red heart emoji] [princess/queen emoji],” she wrote.

There’s no word yet on when Flair will be back, but there has been talk of her possibly appearing on this Friday’s SmackDown on FOX episode.

Flair had been rumored for a WrestleMania 37 match with RAW Women’s Champion Asuka, but last night on RAW it was announced that Asuka will face Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 37.

Andrade responded to Flair’s tweet and indicated that she will be medically cleared from the coronavirus in 4 days. Andrade also referenced recent reports on how WWE apparently removed Flair from the WrestleMania 37 ticket posters.

WWE Reportedly Keeping Quiet On Situation With Charlotte Flair

While discussing Andrade’s WWE release on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Andrade’s fiancé, Charlotte Flair, is making seven figures. This is through not only her WWE deal but also from her other business ventures and deals. This includes her upcoming film project, Walking Tall

Regarding Charlotte’s WrestleMania plans, especially after she was removed from several WrestleMania graphics. Meltzer noted that while she is filming for the Walking Tall reboot, Charlotte’s WrestleMania plans are being kept quiet and that there is “definitely a story” there.

“As far as Charlotte and WrestleMania, I’ve been asking that all week and everyone’s avoiding me on that one,” Meltzer said. “There’s definitely a story that’s not the movie, because if it was the movie it wouldn’t be hidden.”

“It’s definitely something that’s behind hidden as far as whatever the deal is with Charlotte.”

There has been speculation that Charlotte will challenge Asuka for the RAW Women’s Championship. Charlotte’s WrestleMania opponent from last year, Rhea Ripley, is also set to make her debut on RAW tonight.

There has not been any confirmation that Charlotte is upset over the Andrade news as of late. Meltzer reported that she had been pitching plans for them to work together on-screen, which she has confirmed in the past.

Alexa Bliss And Charlotte Flair Will Appear In Upcoming ‘Punky Brewster’ Revival

WWE Superstars Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are set to appear in NBC’s upcoming “Punky Brewster” revival.

Based on set photos released by Bleacher Report, Alexa and Charlotte appear to be involved in some sort of pro-wrestling based storyline in the sitcom.

The “Punky Brewster” revival is a continuation of the hit sitcom that premiered on NBC back in 1984. The show aired its final episode in 1988. The revival premieres on NBC’s streaming service Peacock on February 25.

Pro-wrestling legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also has an NBC show premiering soon. “Young Rock” is biographical show inspired by The Rock’s early years. It will tell the story of a kid who grows up in the wrestling business … obviously.

Production began on the NBC series in Queensland, Australia in 2020. The Rock is set to appear in each episode, and is also serving as a producer alongside Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Jennifer Carreras, and former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz.

As we previously reported, NBCUniversal recently purchased the exclusive streaming rights to more than 17,000 hours of new and original WWE Network content.

WWE Network will move to NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming platform in March, according to Variety.

WWE content (including upcoming live events such as WrestleMania and SummerSlam) will be available on Peacock for $4.99 a month with ads. For those who don’t want ads, the Peacock Premium Plus plan costs $9.99 a month — the same price as an existing WWE Network subscription.

So basically, if you’re already subscribed to WWE Network, you’ll gain additional access to the ad-free Peacock Premium Plus in March for no extra cost.  Alternatively, you could cut your current WWE Network subscription in half and sign up for Peacock Premium.

Charlotte Flair Explains Why She Is Taking Time Off From WWE

Charlotte Flair will be out of action for a while due to personal time and having surgery done.

Charlotte took to Twitter to explain more on why she is going to be gone from WWE for a while.

She explained how in 2018 she had silicone poisoning from her breast implants. She went to the doctors and picked the option that would be the fastest recovery time, which didn’t solve the problem. A few months ago, the same issue happened again to her.

Charlotte now has decided to go with the option that she believes will solve the issue this time, though the recovery time is longer than she would like. She also stated she doesn’t have silicone poisoning right now.

She ended her explanation with the tweet, “I’ll be back when I’m ready. The body will be rested, and the mind still focused on legacy. Focused on this job. Focused on being better. Always being better.”

Below is her full statement:

My air conditioning is broken, and we have a little free time. These tweets may be spaced out a bit, but we’re going to talk time off, plastic surgery and boobs. The entire world having an opinion on the topic bothers me more than I care to let on, so we are going to discuss it.

I’m going to save the history of my boobs for a different bedtime story, so:

Picture it. Charlotte, North Carolina, 2018. A young queen, shortly after a career-defining Wrestlemania victory, finds herself sicker than sick at her brother’s house. A trip to the doctor tells us the likely culprit is silicone poisoning, and that my implant had been leaking for quite some time. It was one of the worse cases the doctor had seen.

At that time, I had a few options to fix the issue. Each option had a specific recovery time. I love this job more than anything, so I picked the option that allowed me to return the soonest. That was the choice I made. Fast forward to a few months ago. Something felt off, so I went back to the doctor. Same issue again. This time, I’m going with an option that I believe will solve the issue long time, even though the recovery period is a little longer than I would like.

To clarify: I do not have silicone poisoning this time. The surgery is cosmetic to fix an issue from a prior surgery. I’ll be back when I’m ready. The body will be rested, and the mind still focused on legacy. Focused on this job. Focused on being better. Always being better.

Charlotte Flair To Undergo Surgery, Expected To Be Out For Extended Period Of Time

Pro Wrestling Sheet has confirmed Charlotte Flair is undergoing surgery and will be out of action for an extended period of time after being written off TV.

Dave Meltzer first reported news of the surgery and PWInsider followed that up with a report explaining that it’s an elective procedure, which we’ve confirmed with sources.

Our sources also confirm Charlotte will be taking an extended break after the surgery to get some personal time after being a constant figure on WWE TV for years. This would explain the injury angle done last night on Raw where she was attacked by Nia Jax.

WWE released a storyline update after last night’s show saying Charlotte was being evaluated for an injury and “may have suffered a potential collarbone fracture.”

According to Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, Charlotte is looking to return around Royal Rumble of 2021. However, it’s always possible she gets brought back before.
