UFC moved the Ronda Rousey VS Cat Zingano fight to UFC 184 on February 28, 2015 in Los Angeles at the Staple Center because of a back injury suffered by Zingano. The report was confirmed by “UFC Tonight” earlier this week. Rousey VS Zingano will square off in a battle of unbeatens at UFC 184 for the bantamweight title. The fight serves as the co-main event to Vitor Belfort challenging Chris Weidman for the middleweight title.

UFC 184 set to take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles

Guys I think I’m on the verge of having a panic attack but in the best way possible. UFC184 is coming to my neck of the woods… (Well my future neck of the woods) Los Angeles California, on February 28th 2014. The excitement doesn’t stop there though because UFC president Dana White took to Instagram today to announce that on that card we will see UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey defend her title against challenger Cat Zingano in the co main event. (That bout was originally scheduled for UFC 182 on January 3rd in Las Vegas) also on the card for UFC184 will be Chris Weidman defending his middle weight title against challenger Vitor Bellfort in the main event.

This is a HUGE deal for me because I’ve seen 2/4 of the 4horsewomen fight live (marina Shafir and Shayna Baszler) and to be quite honest I always thought Rousey would be out of my reach since her fights tend to always be in vegas. I’ll be moving to LA in December so the timing is perfect.

I can assure you that if I do indeed attend UFC184 I’ll give you guys play by play exclusive coverage on our twitter account @vasquezsports

Is there anyone like me that’s super excited about this announcement? Let me know by sounding off in the comments.

Can Cat Zingano finally be squaring off against Ronda Rousey?

Today yours truly is physically exhausted because I decided to take a trip down memory lane of my childhood and I ended up staying up to nearly 4am watching YouTube videos. However even though my body is physically tired my mind is wide awake with excitement and the headline for this article is why. It was announced today that UFC president Dana White said if Cat Zingano can defeat her opponent Amanda Nunes this Saturday at UFC178 she will indeed be next in line for Ronda Rousey’s Batemweight title.

I don’t know about you but I’ve been waiting for this bout for quite sometime. Zingano had an impressive win over Miesha Tate early last year earning her a number 1 contender spot but it was put to a holt after Zingano suffered an ACL injury.

On top of that Zingano faced a tragedy when she lost her husband. Now that the dust is settled Zingano may finally be getting her chance on January 3rd at UFC 182 but 1st she has to defeat Amanda Nunes. Now no disrespect intended to Nunes but I hope Zingano can pull out the win because I’m sure I speak for a lot of fight fans when I say “I really want to see this fight” the question also remains if Nunes wins does that make her #1 contender?

One thing is for sure UFC182 is going to be great regardless because both Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz will be making their octagon returns. With the possibility of Zingano Vs Rousey fight fans will have a filed day.

Cat Zingano next in line to face the UFC Women’s Batamweight champion?

20140525-142949.jpg

UFC president Dana White is very adamant that the returning Cat Zingano is still #1 contender for the UFC Women’s Batamweight championship. However he also feels that before she faces the champ (weather it be Rousey or Davis) she should have a tune up fight first. It should be noted that Sarah Kaufman has been lobbying for a bout with Zingano for quite some time.

Carano has been out of action for over a year. Her last fight was against Miesha Tate at the TUF17 final. Zingano won that fight via TKO earning her the #1 contender spot and a spot on TUF18. However an ACL injury pulled her out of those opportunities only to be replaced by Miesha Tate.

Dana White expressed some concern after Zingano lost her husband earlier this year, but now he says he’s glad she’s in a good enough place to focus on fighting again. (You can check out Dana White’s comments here)

Even though the next contender for the title is unclear one can agree that wether it be Rousey vs Zingano or Davis vs Zingano it should be one hell of a fight. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say Zingano’s return to the octagon will be one of the most anticipate in a long time.

Cat Zingano Status

It was announced 6 days ago that UFC Women’s Battemweight Champion Ronda Rousey will be defending her title at UFC175 live on P.P.V. July 5th during international fight week against Invicta veteran Alexis Davis. Davis’ last victory against Jessica Eye at UFC170 indeed put her in title contention, but some fans had the question what about Zingano?
Yes what about Zingano? Cat Zingano earned the spot to be number 1 contender for the title last year when she knocked out Miesha Tate? So why hasn’t she got her shot?
As some of you may or may not know Zingano tore her ACL and had to back out of the fight. Not only that but the tragic death of her husband and training partner set her back as well. It’s been a tough year for Zingano indeed.
Yesterday at the TUF nations final press conference Dana White Stated that Zingano won’t be back anytime soon but she still has her spot to fight Rousey (you can read more of the article here) http://msn.foxsports.com/ufc/story/dana-white-cat-zingano-still-going-to-be-out-awhile-041614

With all this being said my prayers will be with Zingano and I know I speak for a lot of people when I say I can’t wait to see her back in the octagon. The fight between her and Rousey should be a site to see.

Do you guys think Davis was a good choice to step up against Rousey? Let me know, I for one can’t wait to see these two square off. I’m a fan of both but of corse my heart is with Rousey.
