Brie Bella has provided an update on the injury she suffered at WWE SummerSlam 2026, confirming that she broke her scapula during Saturday night’s event.
The WWE Hall of Famer shared the news on Instagram on Monday, thanking fans for their support while revealing that she will be sidelined as she recovers from the injury.
“I wanted to thank you all for sending me all the love, warm wishes and prayers,” Brie wrote. “When I was sitting in the hospital, I was reading everything you guys were sending my way, love you all!!! Unfortunately I’ll be out for a bit. I broke my scapula.”
Despite the setback, Bella made it clear that she intends to return to the ring once she has recovered.
“If there’s one thing I know about my sister and I is that we don’t let broken bones stop us. Not sure how I finished that match, but I do believe between the adrenaline, passion for the business and the love for all the women I work with, it gave me the drive to finish. Now my new journey starts…if there is one thing I know about Brie Mode, she always finds a way to come back to her wrestling home. Let the recovery begin.”
Bella was part of a six-woman tag team match at SummerSlam, teaming with Nikki Bella and Paige against Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne, and Lainey Reid. The veteran trio came up short in the match, with Jacy Jayne scoring the victory for her team.
The injury is believed to have occurred during a spot on the outside of the ring involving Jacy Jayne and the steel ring steps. While WWE had not officially confirmed the moment of the injury, fans noticed Bella clutching her right shoulder during the post-match segment.
After Fatal Influence picked up the win, Nikki Bella shocked the WWE Universe by turning on Paige. Brie participated briefly in the attack but appeared limited as she continued favoring her injured shoulder.
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque addressed Bella’s condition during the SummerSlam post-show press conference, revealing that she had been taken to the hospital for evaluation after suffering a shoulder injury. Subsequent testing confirmed that Bella had broken her scapula.
The injury comes shortly after the Bella Twins reunited as full-time competitors. Nikki recently returned from an ankle injury that had kept her out of action since March, while Brie returned to WWE competition earlier this year.
There is currently no timetable for Brie Bella’s return to the ring.
