Backstage WWE Hall Of Fame Updates On The Steiner Brothers And Batista

The Steiner Family is reportedly scheduled to be in Dallas for WWE’s WrestleMania 38 Weekend.

The Steiner Brothers, Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner, are rumored for the 2022 WWE Hall of Fame Class. It was reported earlier this week that if Scott isn’t interested in being inducted, as he’s indicated in the past, then WWE would just induct Rick, but they want the brothers to go in as a tag team.

In an update, PWInsider confirms that WWE officials are considering The Steiners for a Hall of Fame induction this year. There has been a lot of talk about the induction in the past week.

Furthermore, it was noted that a number of Steiner family members are scheduled to travel to Dallas for WrestleMania 38 Weekend. Bron Breakker, Rick’s son, will challenge new WWE NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler at NXT Stand & Deliver on WrestleMania Saturday.

There’s been some speculation on Batista’s WWE Hall of Fame induction, but that likely will not be happening this year. WWE originally had The Animal scheduled for the 2020 Class, but the ceremony was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was then announced that the 2020 Class would be inducted along with the 2021 Class last year, but Batista was removed from the list, and he later announced that he could not make the event due to previous obligations. He confirmed that WWE honored his request to induct him at a future ceremony.

Batista is expected to be in Dallas for The Undertaker’s WWE Hall of Fame induction next month, but word now is that he likely will not be inducted until WrestleMania 39 Weekend from Los Angeles.

WWE has announced The Undertaker, Vader and Queen Sharmell for the 2022 Class so far. WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon will induct Taker, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T will induct Sharmell, but there’s no confirmation on who will posthumously induct Vader. “Psycho” Sid Vicious is rumored for this year’s Class.

News On WWE Removing Batista From Hall Of Fame List

Batista is no longer set to be inducted at this year’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.

WWE.com removed him as part of the class, and his induction page currently reads “access denied.” Batista’s WWE.com profile also omits the “Hall of Fame” logo that other WWE Hall of Famers have present on their roster page.

Ringside News first reported that Batista would not be a part of this year’s ceremony. According to Fightful Select, the plan is for Batista to be inducted into the Hall of Fame “when a full crowd can enjoy it.”

The 2021 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony was confirmed to take place from the virtual WWE ThunderDome this year, despite WrestleMania airing in front of a live audience. WWE is reportedly set to tape the ceremony this year on March 30 and April 1, and air it on the WWE Network one week later on April 6.

The 2021 ceremony will include inductees from both the 2020 and 2021 class, including Eric Bischoff, Molly Holly, the Bella Twins, JBL, Jushin “Thunder” Liger, the British Bulldog, and the nWo.

Last night’s WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view from MetLife Stadium saw Triple H defeat Batista in a No Holds Barred match. Triple H’s career was on the line.

While not announced as a career match, this looks to be Batista’s final match for WWE. He previously spoke in media interviews of wanting to return to WWE for one more run and a match with Triple H at WrestleMania.

Batista took to Twitter after WrestleMania to thank WWE fans and officially announce his retirement from the ring.

He wrote, “@WWEUniverse Thank you for letting me entertain you. I love this business and whether you cheered me or jeered me, I’m grateful for being a small part of your life. I am officially retired from sports entertainment and I am grateful for every second of my amazing journey”

Batista Ruins Ric Flair’s Birthday Celebration

dave bautista batista wwe raw ric flair birthday celebration triple h wrestlemania 35

“The Animal” Dave Bautista showed up to Ric Flair’s birthday celebration during Raw … but he wasn’t there to wish his old buddy well.

The celebration began with members of the roster gathered onstage as Triple H and Stephanie McMahon introduced guests Shawn Michaels, Ricky Steamboat, Kurt Angle and Sting. Flair was introduced next, but he was nowhere to be found.

Instead … Batista was shown angrily storming into Ric’s dressing room. Then he was seen dragging Flair out. “Hey hunter, do I have your attention now,” Dave said over an unconscious Flair.

Triple H then rushed to the backstage area to make the save, but Batista was gone.

As we previously reported, Bautista has recently been in talks with WWE about wrestling a match at WrestleMania 35. Looks like things have now been solidified.

Dave Bautista In Talks With WWE For WrestleMania 35 Match, But Also Has Interest With AEW

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Dave Bautista is in talks with WWE for a match at WrestleMania 35, but it’s not set in stone yet … and All Elite Wrestling is expressing interest.

According to multiple sources, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star is deep in talks with WWE about a return on “The Grandest Stage of Them All.”

However, we’re told he’s 50/50 on returning at this point based on how talks have gone.

In addition to this, we’re told there’s been interest expressed to Dave from All Elite Wrestling and he isn’t turning them away. Our sources say he’s listening to what both companies have to offer.

For those unfamiliar, AEW is the new company started by the billionaire Khan family with Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks serving as Executive Vice Presidents. Chris Jericho is also signed to the company and it’s rumored a TV deal is on the horizon.

As you may recall … Dave last made a WWE appearance in October during SmackDown 1000’s Evolution reunion. The segment ended with a tease for a future match between Batista and Triple H. The next month, however, Triple H got injured at WWE Crown Jewel.

The WWE Exec has since been cleared to train again though, as he revealed on a media call.

Batista Reportedly Considering Another Full Time WWE Run

Batista

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Batista (Dave Bautista) is considering another run with WWE (6-months to a year) at the age of 49. While it’s not something he needs to do, word is that this is something he wants to do. He’s doing well in Hollywood but the problem is if he signs with WWE, they own your contract and if something comes along in Hollywood, the company wanting him will have to negotiate with WWE which may be a turn off for them and cost Batista roles. Batista reportedly doesn’t want to work a limited or special attraction schedule, and is actually looking at a more of a full-time schedule. In the past he raved about how he loved working live events over TV.

Batista Says He Has Asked WWE About Returning, Wants Final Storyline With Triple H

Image result for Dave Bautista

Chris Jericho recently spoke with fellow professional wrestling legend Batista, also known as Dave Bautista, on Talk Is JerichoAmong many other things, Batista talked about whether he misses pro wrestling and what angle he would return to WWE to work.

According to Batista, he misses pro wrestling “a lot”, but he does not miss dealing with WWE.

“There’s nothing like it. [Jericho] know[s] how it is. There’s just an adrenaline rush that goes along with it. What I don’t miss is the company, to be honest with you. I don’t miss WWE. I miss wrestling. I just don’t miss dealing with the company and its bulls–t. Yeah, the bulls–t, man. It’s just too much bulls–t.”

Batista admitted that he asked McMahon and Triple H on multiple occasions about returning to WWE and it has gone nowhere.

“I’ve asked [to come back]. I’ve asked. I’ve asked for what I want. I’ll tell [Jericho] and I’ve talked to Hunter about it and I’ve talked to Vince about it. I said I would come back and run a whole program with Hunter. That’s the only thing I’m interested in and they’re just not interested in it.”

Batista added, “I guess [WWE is] not [interested]. And I’ve run it by them a few different times. They just say, ‘meh, we’ll think about it.’ Vince, every time I ask him, ‘meh, I’ll think about it.'”

Batista indicated that he would like to do a program with Triple H and that is all he is interested in doing, as it would be ‘The Animal”s final run in pro wrestling.

“At this point, no [Batista is not interested in doing long programs with up-and-comers], because it would be like my retirement thing. It’d be what I go out on. I’d come back and I’d do it. I would do a whole program and I’d be done. But that’s how I’d want to go out because we have such a history together and there’s so much history built in. There’s an easy story to be told and I think people would get into it and they’d like it. And Hunter, he’s just awesome to work with.”

Batista professed that he has grown tired of asking to be figured in to WWE’s future plans. Moreover, the six-time world champion acknowledged that the chances of a proper farewell in WWE are shrinking with each passing day.

“I’ve asked, but now it’s at a point where I’m tired of asking.” Batista continued, “the last time I talked to Vince about it was a while ago and I said, ‘if we say we’re going to do it, I can put it in my calendar’ but now my calendar fills up pretty [quickly]. Like, I’m already booked up for the next year and a half, so my window is getting [smaller]. I’m not getting any younger. But see, I don’t know if it’ll ever happen. That’d be the way I want to go out.”
