WWE announced the following:
STAMFORD, Conn. — WWE and Jose Rodriguez (Alberto Del Rio) have mutually agreed upon the terms of his release as of today, September 9, 2016.
Del Rio returned to the company less than a year ago, but his run had been lackluster to say the least. His final match was against John Cena.
Del Rio was suspended last month for 30 days along side his girlfriend Paige for violation of the WWE Wellness Policy. Paige is rumored to be possibly on her way out of WWE as well.

Paige’s WWE future is said to be up in the air right now, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. While also dealing with injuries, she is still serving a 30-day suspension for her first violation of the WWE Wellness Policy and is under contract until 2019 but there has been a lot of heat over her relationship with Alberto Del Rio, and other issues, leading to speculation on her not coming back.
We noted last week via MLW Radio’s “MSL & Sullivan” podcast that WWE’s Mark Carrano approached Paige and Del Rio individually and harassed them about the relationship. It was indicated that the office wanted them to end the relationship, which is why they were split up in the WWE Draft. It was also reported that the company threatened to fire Paige if she didn’t break up with Del Rio.
The Observer reports that WWE is denying the story – the harassment to Del Rio and Paige, and the threat to fire her. Apparently there is also a claim going around that Del Rio called Carrano on the subject but Carrano just went silent during the conversation.
For what it’s worth, Paige has now reportedly retained legal representation and there’s speculation on if she will stay with WWE or leave.
On a related note, it’s believed that WWE will be announcing Del Rio’s departure any time now.

Alberto Del Rio made headlines a few weeks ago after he was suspended for 30 days for violating the WWE Wellness Policy. Del Rio made headlines once again this week, because according to reports, he will not be returning to WWE once his suspension ends.
On this week’s episode of MSL & Sullivan on the MLW Network, Mister Saint Laurent noted that Alberto Del Rio is free to work outside of the U.S. as of September 1st, and will be free to work wherever he wants on October 1st.
MSL also spoke about Alberto Del Rio’s relationship with Paige claiming that not only did the office disapprove of the relationship, but that they actually threatened to fire Paige.
“I do know that Mark Carrano, who fans might know from Total Divas as kind of like the the office liaison guy, approached Del Rio and Paige individually, and harassed each of them about their relationship. It was indicated that the office wanted them to sever their romantic relationship. A lot of people speculated, if this is why WWE split them up in the draft, and that is definitely what happened. The company did not want them together, they split them up in the draft by design, and they threatened to fire Paige if she didn’t break up with Del Rio.”
Paige is currently out of action serving out the remainder of her 30 day suspension. Alberto Del Rio and Paige were both suspended for 30 days on August 17th for violating the WWE Wellness Policy.

Alberto Del Rio (Jose Alberto Rodriguez) has been removed from all upcoming WWE live events and is not expected to be returning to the company after his 30 day suspension concludes in September according to new reports on Tuesday.
WWE announced the 30 day suspension of Del Rio back on August 17 (effective the following day). Del Rio was let go by WWE back in August of 2014 after a backstage incident with a WWE staff member in what they cited as “unprofessional conduct.” After returning to Mexico and working a series of independent dates in the United States, Del Rio returned to WWE last October at the Hell in a Cell PPV defeating John Cena to become the new WWE United States Champion. He was paired with Zeb Colter in a storyline that only lasted a few weeks. Del Rio was then paired with Sheamus, Rusev and Wade Barrett to form The League of Nations group. That angle was also later dropped by WWE. Del Rio was drafted to Smackdown Live during the 2016 WWE Draft and main evented the August 16 episode against John Cena. His 30 day suspension for violating the company’s wellness policy, his first violation, was announced the next day.

Suspended WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio is being called a cheater in a nasty divorce battle between he and his wife … but the wrestler has responded saying that’s just not true.
Pro Wrestling Sheet obtained court documents filed at the end of June by Del Rio’s wife Angela Velkei which state their marriage ended May 27th, 2016 due to adultery. Discord or conflict within the marriage is cited as well.
Velkei’s attorneys Raymond Rafool and Richard Orsinger are also asking for a judge to issue a restraining order that would limit contact between their client and the former WWE champ.
While it’s not specifically mentioned, the listed break-up date is just two weeks after ADR and Paigewent public with their relationship — when many people had no idea he was still married — and our sources say this wasn’t a coincidence.
Alberto is telling a different story though. In documents filed last week, the wrestler claims their relationship ended in June ’15 and it was because Angela was “guilty of cruel treatment” towards him.
According to Del Rio’s lawyers, the couple were married in Mexico … so he filed for divorce there last month. Because of that, they believe that country should have “dominant jurisdiction over the proceedings.” They also request that his wife undergo a psych evaluation.
Both sides want full custody of their children, as well as ownership of their house and her car.
A judge has yet to make a formal decision.

“STAMFORD, Conn. — WWE has suspended Jose Rodriguez (Alberto Del Rio) for 30 days effective tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 18, for his first violation of the company’s talent wellness policy.”

Alberto Del Rio has dished out additional details to MLW Radio on what led to Paige being detained after Money in the Bank … claiming officers intervened after hecklers refused to give up.
Del Rio allegedly told MLW’s Court Bauer that he and Paige were repeatedly being harassed by a drunk couple at a show following MITB, so they asked security to kick the two hecklers out.
Bauer says the couple waited outside for Del Rio/Paige to leave and when they exited the hotel, there was a confrontation. Police arrived on-scene shortly after.
As we previously reported, police say they were flagged down after a woman was seen running into the street. Paige was detained and officers determined that she needed further medical evaluation.

It is being reported by Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE officials are planning on breaking up The League of Nations soon. No word yet on what they have planned for Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio or Rusev but apparently King Barrett’s dismissal from the group was the beginning of the end.
Alberto Del Rio defeated Kalisto to win back the United States Championship with help from fellow League of Nations member King Barrett.
There has been some speculation and rumors for a while that WWE was interested in bringing Alberto Del Rio back. Last night Del Rio made a surprise return to WWE at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. Del Rio accepted John Cena’s US Open Challenge. Del Rio went on to defeat Cena for the United States Championship. Del Rio was accompanied at ringside by Zeb Colter.
