Mysterious Group Attacks Jay White On AEW Dynamite

Following a contract signing segment between Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page that main evented this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, the cameras panned backstage where Jay White was being assaulted by a man wearing MJF’s devil mask.

The show closed with several people attacking White in the backstage area before the cameras faded to black. The segment saw White being thrown onto a production cart, and then the masked man grabbed the camera to end the show.

As of this writing, there is no word on who the attacker is.

The devil mask was reminiscent of MJF’s own; the AEW World Champion calls himself “The Devil,” and he has worn the mask several times. He introduced it at AEW All Out 2022, where a group of masked individuals helped him win the Casino Ladder Match. This faction was later revealed to be The Firm. The group included Stokely Hathaway, Lee Moriarty, Colten Gunn, Austin Gunn, Ethan Page, and W. Morrissey.

No members of the group on Wednesday were identified. However, it’s easy to connect MJF to the attack. He and White got into a heated exchange earlier in the show. White set his sights on the world title, criticized MJF, and make it clear that he intends to dethrone the champion.

It’s worth noting that Edge’s WWE contract expires at the end of September. The AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view event takes place the following day on October 1st.

Jon Moxley Believed To Have Suffered Concussion On AEW Dynamite Grand Slam

During the “AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam” special, Jon Moxley lost the AEW International Championship to Rey Fenix, though that’s not what caught the attention of the fans. After Fenix hit his Black Fire Driver, Moxley did not kick out of the move. It appeared something was wrong as referee Rick Knox only counted to two even though Moxley’s shoulders were still on the mat. Fenix quickly hit the move again, and this time around, Knox counted to three and Fenix won the title.

According to “PWInsider,” the reason behind the awkward finish was Moxley reportedly suffering a concussion. After being checked over by doctors for some time, Moxley walked out of the arena by himself. It’s also believed that Fenix winning the title was not the original plan and only happened because of Moxley’s injury.

On social media, both Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp and Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez provided updates on the situation. Sapp noted that those he spoke with were “optimistic” that Moxley was fine, and that right after the incident AEW CEO Tony Khan and the other members of the Blackpool Combat Club went to check on him. Alvarez acknowledged that Moxley was hurt during the match, but said that “he is okay.”

Jon Moxley became the AEW International Champion on September 3 after he defeated Orange Cassidy at All Out in Chicago. He defended the title thrice before losing it to Fenix, with his previous defense coming against Big Bill on the September 13 episode of “Dynamite.”

Tony Khan Allowing The AEW Roster To Skip Dynamite To Attend Bray Wyatt’s Services

There could be a few top names missing from this week’s or next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, as Tony Khan is allowing any talents in his promotion who want to attend Bray Wyatt’s services to do just that.

According to a report from Fightful, Khan notified the entire roster on Monday that they are not required to attend AEW Dynamite if they want to attend the services for Windham Rotunda. The AEW President is more than willing to re-write episodes of Dynamite if need be.

As of this writing, there is no word on when Bray Wyatt’s services will be taking place but many talents who will be attending the services will need some travel time.
