TayJay (Tay Melo and Anna Jay) vs. Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford
After nearly two years away from AEW programming, Tay Melo made her long-awaited return during Wednesday night’s Fyter Fest special — and she didn’t come empty-handed.
With Anna Jay cornered and seemingly moments away from being thrown off the stage by Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford, Melo’s music hit to a massive reaction. Charging to the ring wielding a kendo stick, she went straight after Ford, swinging with purpose and clearing house before mixing it up with Bayne. Officials quickly stepped in to separate them, but the message was loud and clear: Tay Melo is back, and she’s coming in hot.
This marks Melo’s first AEW appearance since January 2023, when she was still aligned with Jay as part of the Jericho Appreciation Society (JAS). Later that spring, Melo and her husband Sammy Guevara revealed at Double or Nothing that they were expecting their first child. The couple welcomed their daughter, Luna, on November 28, 2023.
While Wednesday marked Melo’s AEW comeback, fans may recall she quietly dipped her toe back into the ring earlier this year. In January, she teamed with STARDOM’s Mina Shirakawa at the New Year Dream event in Japan — a sign that the former Judo standout wasn’t done with wrestling just yet.
Now reunited with Jay, the duo known as TayJay is back in action. The two first began teaming in 2020, making it to the semi-finals of the AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament. Their chemistry led to a run within the JAS faction from 2022 through Melo’s hiatus. Though Melo was absent during the faction’s eventual implosion, her return signals a fresh start — this time clearly on the babyface side of the aisle.
With AEW’s women’s division heating up and TayJay reunited, all eyes will be on what’s next for Melo, Jay, and whoever dares to stand in their way.

There’s a shake-up in the usual pro wrestling schedule this week, as both Ring of Honor and AEW are making rare programming shifts.
ROH has announced that this week’s episode of ROH on HonorClub will not air on its typical Thursday night slot. Instead, the show is moving to Friday—it will also stream for free on YouTube, in addition to the usual HonorClub platform. This makes a opportunity for viewers who haven’t subscribed to get a taste of the current ROH product without dropping a dime.
Meanwhile, over in the AEW camp, Collision is also on the move this week. The Saturday night show will instead air on Thursday night, which likely prompted the schedule adjustment on the ROH side to avoid overlap and give each brand its spotlight.
AEW is set to pay tribute to the late Steve “Mongo” McMichael during the upcoming AEW Collision: Beach Break special, and the occasion will be made even more meaningful with the presence of McMichael’s longtime friend and fellow Four Horsemen legend, Ric Flair.
McMichael, who passed away in April at the age of 67 following a lengthy battle with ALS, left a lasting impact both on the football field and in the world of pro wrestling. AEW confirmed during this week’s Collision that a special tribute segment will air as part of next Saturday’s Beach Break broadcast, which will take place in McMichael’s hometown of Chicago.
Flair, who wrestled alongside McMichael during their time in WCW as members of the iconic Four Horsemen stable, will be in the building to pay his respects. Following McMichael’s passing, Flair posted an emotional tribute on social media, calling him “an amazing friend and athlete.” Their friendship extended far beyond the ring, and Flair’s involvement in the upcoming tribute ensures it will be as heartfelt as it is historic.
Before stepping into the squared circle, McMichael carved out a legendary career in the NFL — including a Super Bowl win with the Chicago Bears. He later made the jump to professional wrestling in 1995, becoming a regular presence on WCW Monday Nitro and eventually competing in matches from 1996 to 1999. Known for his charisma, toughness, and unmistakable swagger, McMichael became one of WCW’s most memorable crossover stars.
AEW Collision: Beach Break will be taped on April 14 — the same day as AEW Dynamite — and will air on Saturday, April 17. The show is already shaping up to be an emotional and action-packed night, with the returns of Skye Blue and Zach Gowen already confirmed. Now, the inclusion of a tribute to one of wrestling’s most unique figures adds a powerful dose of legacy to the card.
Fans in Chicago — and across the wrestling world — will no doubt be tuning in to remember Mongo and the mark he left on both sports and sports entertainment.
