Backstage Update On WWE Doing Horsewomen Vs. Horsewomen, Shayna Baszler’s Status, Ronda Rousey

WWE officials are still interested in doing a Horsewomen vs. Horsewomen feud as multiple ideas have been discussed, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

One issue being discussed is making sense of Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch being on SmackDown Live while Sasha Banks and Bayley are on RAW but that could be solved by having the match on a joint pay-per-view such as the Survivor Series in November. There’s also been talk of doing a Flair vs. Ronda Rousey singles match at some point. It was previously believed that Ronda’s first singles match would be against Stephanie McMahon.

There are unconfirmed reports that Shayna Baszler has signed a contract with WWE. She was backstage for the first set of WWE NXT TV tapings after The Mae Young Classic finals but she was not used. After being booked strong in the tournament, the 37 year old was expected to sign with WWE when she stopped booking new indie dates.

Chris Jericho Launching ‘Rock & Wrestling’ Cruise For ‘Jericoholics’

WWE wrestler Chris Jericho has held a wide range of jobs over the years, from rock singer to game show host to best-selling author (see above). But on Tuesday, he added another entry to his ever-growing resume: cruise-ship entertainer.

On Tuesday, Jericho announced his eponymous Chris Jericho Rock & Wrestling Rager at Sea, a themed cruise promising “5 venues of raging entertainment,” “endless rockin’ moments,” and “one family of Jericoholics.”

“Wrestling, rock and roll, comedy — all on the open sea!” explains Jericho in a video announcement. “It’s going to be one of the greatest times of your life, guaranteed. I want you to join us,” he adds.

According to its official site, the Chris Jericho Rock & Wrestling Rager at Sea will depart from Miami, Fla., on Oct. 27, 2018, and set sail for Nassau, Bahamas, before returning to Miami on Oct. 31.

The Rock & Wrestling festivities will also be held aboard the Norwegian Jade cruise liner, which will also host the upcoming “Star Trek II: The Cruise” in January.

Along the way, guests — or Jeraholics, as the website is calling them — will be treated to live music from at least eight different acts, such as Jericho’s own band Fozzy, an all-female AC/DC cover band called Shoot to Thrill, and former “SNL” cast-member Jim Breuer’s band, Jim Breuer and the Loud & Rowdy. The itinerary also includes comedy from Breuer, a one-man show from Chris Jericho, and three live podcasts, the latter of which will also be hosted by Jericho.

As for the “wrestling” component of Jericho’s Rock & Wrestling Rager, the cruise will also host an in-ship “Sea of Honor” tournament. Special appearances include WWE announcer Jim Ross (who is described as the “host” of the cruise) as well as professional wrestlers Diamond Dallas Page, Mick Foley and Rey Mysterio, among others.

Tickets to the Chris Jericho Rock & Rager were reportedly available as of Tuesday.

Ric Flair Opens Up About Health Scare, Says Charlotte Was Told He Wouldn’t Survive (Video)

ric flair video interview people health scare

“The Nature Boy” Ric Flair is talking about the health scare that almost ended his life and revealed that his daughter Charlotte was told he wouldn’t survive.

Flair spoke with People TV at the rehabilitation center where he’s currently recovering from surgery and said his fiancée initially took him to the hospital because he was having a bad stomachache.

Ric’s fiancée Wendy Barlow says he had been having heart related issues prior to the hospitalization, but his organs began to shut down once he arrived and Flair was rushed to the ICU.

The 68-year-old wrestler says his daughter Charlotte was told before surgery that he wouldn’t make it, but Flair says he had no idea it was that bad at the time. Thankfully the doctor was wrong and Ric survived. Now, Flair has begun physical therapy in the hospital and is using a stationary bike, but is unable to walk on his own and needs to use a walker.

UPDATE: People posted an additional article which says Flair was also suffering from congestive heart failure due to years of alcohol abuse.  Ric admits in the interview that he’s an alcoholic and will try to never drink again … adding, “I never want to go through this again.”

The article also reveals that part of Flair’s bowel was removed and a pacemaker was inserted.

Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods play a group of South Dakota historians trying to figure out how to get people to come visit the state, coming up with Mount Rushmore in the process. Of course, they brought a bit of that P.o.P to history and started a chant of “Cowboy Rocks!”

Bobby “The Brain” Heenan passed away at the age of 72 Sunday due to organ failure caused by throat cancer, according to his obituary in the Tampa Bay Times.

Heenan received the cancer diagnosis in 2002 and had been in remission since 2004, according to his daughter Jessica Solt. “It was just his time,” Solt told the Tampa Bay Times.

Heenan, whose real name was Raymond Louis Heenan, is widely regarded as the greatest manager in WWE history. Wrestlers he managed were dubbed members of the Heenan Family, which included the likes of Big John Studd, King Kong Bundy, “Ravishing” Rick Rude, “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig, the Brain Busters (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard), and Harley Race. He also managed the top enemies of Hulk Hogan, most notably King Kong Bundy at WrestleMania II and Andre The Giant at WrestleMania III.

Heenan, who was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2004, also had a successful run as a WWE commentator. His infectious personality created wildly entertaining segments with fellow WWE Hall of Famers Gorilla Monsoon and “Mean” Gene Okerlund. He also had a brief stint as host of “The Bobby Heenan Show” on USA Network.

Wrestlers past and present posted heartfelt reactions to Heenan’s death. During Monday night’s Raw, the WWE aired an incredible tribute to Heenan, which can be viewed below.

Cris Cyborg Wants To Fight Ronda Rousey In WWE

cris cyborg ronda rousey ufc wwe wrestlemania challenge

Cris Cyborg has been wanting to fight Ronda Rousey for years, but now the UFC Women’s Featherweight champ says there’s only place it should happen … in a WWE ring.

It all started when Rousey’s coach recently said in an interview that he wants Ronda to come back for a fight with Cyborg, however, Cris no longer feels the same way and outlined her idea in a blog.

She explained that they’re now both at different points in their careers and her true intention was to show the world that Ronda was beatable, which has now been seen already.

Therefore, she wants the super-fight to be a WWE affair … saying, “If Ronda is wanting to make the fight for the fans, I would still be willing to give them it, but I think it would be better to take place inside the WWE ring. For her it gets her one step closer to Hollywood and for me it would be another exciting challenge and a chance to test my athletic ability.”

For what it’s worth, the image used in her blog has the WrestleMania logo behind them (seen above).
