Impact Wrestling’s Scott D’Amore Discusses Impact’s Recent Meeting With WWE

In September Impact Wrestling president Ed Nordholm and EVP Scott D’Amore met with WWE officials at their headquarters in Stamford. The meeting was about Impact’s video library and WWE having use to certain footage for the WWE Network.

D’Amore joined the Wrestling Perspective Podcast where he talked about Impact meeting with WWE and how this is a great step forward for the pro wrestling industry as a whole.

“Since the beginning of the year we have done three content deals with WWE. We did the Hardys documentary deal, to supply footage for the documentary about The Hardys. We did a deal to provide footage for AJ Styles and Kurt Angle for Table for 3, and we provided footage for Bruce Prichard on the WWE Network,” said D’Amore. “We have done a few deals together, which I think that WWE is seeing that this is a different day with Impact Wrestling, and I think in the most minor levels maybe they are seeing that it is a different day and age in pro wrestling.”

This type of meeting between competing promotions would never have happened 20 years ago. But times have changed and both sides can see the benefit of working with one another so there’s a good chance they work together again in the future.

“It is one of those things, it’s like: there was a meeting, we got together, we talked and thought, you know it was nice to see each other face-to-face and say hello and just say that it is 2018,” D’Amore stated. “It is a whole different world and there is no reason that we cannot communicate. There really was no agenda to it and you know, we move on, but it is how the business is now, which I think is tremendous where we can do a deal with WWE where it helps them tell a great story on the WWE Network.

“Whether it is one of their shows, or The Hardy Boyz documentary, it is certainly good for us. Not only to make a little scratch off of the footage, but also the promotion they give us for Global Wrestling Network and having it on their platform where they advertise us and say that if you want more of this then download and watch the GWN Network, which is great for us. This wouldn’t have happened a few years ago. Whether it is WWE, whether it is Ring of Honor, no matter who it is, I think it is in this day and age to stop with the ‘old school wrestling BS’ of if you are with him then you can’t do nothing with us, so to get past that I think that is how business works.”

Neville Makes Surprise Return To Wrestling (Video & Photos)

After roughly a year away from the ring, Neville — now working under his old ring name PAC — returned to wrestling Tuesday at a Dragon Gate show inside of Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall.

Neville, teaming with Eita Kobayashi, picked up the win in a tag match over Shingo Takagi and BxB Hulk with his signature “Red Arrow” finisher.  Takagi is working his final matches with Dragon Gate.

According to multiple reports, the 32-year-old came out with the heel faction R.E.D. and cut a post-match promo on fans saying he’d destroy all their favorite stars.

It was reported in last week’s issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Neville has not been responding to promoters as best as they can tell, and has essentially gone “off the grid.” Neville was reportedly previously in talks with some promotions, however said that he wasn’t ready to start yet due to legal issues.

Neville had been unhappy with WWE creative and tried to get his release when he quit the company back in October of 2017. WWE officials did not grant the release when he quit because they didn’t want to set a precedent where talents under contract could walk out and go to New Japan Pro Wrestling, which is where it was expected Neville would end up. Neville’s contract was then frozen for ten months before his release was granted.

Neville is scheduled to return to Dragon Gate for a match on November 6th.

The Undertaker and Kane take out Triple H and Shawn Michaels on RAW (Video)

Shawn Michaels was on RAW to talk about the Triple H vs. The Undertaker match this Saturday in Australia at WWE Super Show-Down.

Excerpt courtesy of WrestleView‘s Mike Tedesco’s RAW recap:

Michaels has the utmost respect for The Undertaker, but any day of the week and twice on Sunday he’d pick his best friend over anybody on God’s green earth. That upset The Undertaker. Undertaker made this personal. Undertaker has Kane in his corner, so Triple H has his brother in his corner. Michaels warns Kane about crowding the ring. If he does, he’ll be brushed back with some Sweet Chin Music.

Kane’s music hits, and the Mayor of Knoxville County appears behind Michaels in the ring. Michaels turns around, and Kane uppercuts him down.

The bell tolls, and Undertaker appears standing in the ring next to Kane! The crowd is going crazy. Undertaker stands over Michaels and signals for the end. Undertaker lifts him up for a Tombstone Piledriver, but Triple H’s music hits! Triple H comes down and punches away at Undertaker. Kane grabs Triple H, but he punches him back. Triple H goes back to punching Undertaker, but Kane grabs him by the throat. Triple H attacks, so Undertaker grabs him. Undertaker hits a Chokeslam on Triple H while Kane hits one on Shawn Michaels (who has a shaved head!). Undertaker and Kane stand tall in the ring before stopping when Triple H comes to. Undertaker then lays him out with a Tombstone Piledriver! Undertaker and Kane then walk up the ramp and pose.

At the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view, Punishment Martinez successfully defended the Ring of Honor Television Championship, defeating Chris Sabin in the process. Martinez continued to attack Sabin after the match, until Jeff Cobb made the save. Cobb then laid out Martinez with a swinging suplex, before heading to the back.

During last night’s Death Before Dishonor TV tapings, Punishment Martinez defended the title yet again, this time against Jeff Cobb. Martinez dropped the ROH Television Championship to Cobb, and according to F4WOnline, Martinez has reportedly worked his final match for the promotion.

It is also being reported that the former Ring of Honor Television Champion is heading to the WWE.

Martinez trained at the Monster Factory, and has been competing in Ring of Honor since 2015. The wrestler won the Survival of the Fittest tournament in 2017, and unsuccessfully challenged for the NEVER Openweight Championship last year. Martinez won his first championship in Ring of Honor back in June this year, defeating Silas Young to become the new Ring of Honor Television Champion.

Neville Has Reportedly Gone “Off The Grid” And Is Not Responding To Promoters

While Neville is reportedly free to wrestle anywhere since receiving his WWE release in August, Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Neville has not been responding to promoters as best as they can tell, and has esentially gone “off the grid.”

PWInsider had reported that Neville was spotted in Pittsburgh around the time of his release in August. WWE sends their talent to Pittsburgh for medical testing, so the timing for that is interesting to say the least.

Neville was reportedly previously in talks with some promotions, however said that he wasn’t ready to start yet due to legal issues. Will Ospreay had recently called out the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion on Twitter.
