UFC moved the Ronda Rousey VS Cat Zingano fight to UFC 184 on February 28, 2015 in Los Angeles at the Staple Center because of a back injury suffered by Zingano. The report was confirmed by “UFC Tonight” earlier this week. Rousey VS Zingano will square off in a battle of unbeatens at UFC 184 for the bantamweight title. The fight serves as the co-main event to Vitor Belfort challenging Chris Weidman for the middleweight title.

A decade of badassery

20141031-161328.jpg

Do you remember what you were doing on October 31st 2003? My 12 year old self was trick or treating in my neighborhood dressed as the infamous Jason Voorhees. I remember I used my brothers Friday the 13th mask covered in blood, my ensemble included a gray long sleeve thermal, with a jean jacket over it, topped off with some ripped up jeans splattered in blood. (Fake of corse) it wasn’t the best but my mom made do and honestly it’s a moment I treasure especially because my mom is no longer with me.

I’m sure some of you where trick or treating as well. Or maybe you were taking your kids out for candy? Maybe you were at a party or watching scary movies?

That is unless you were Shayna Baszler. October 31st 2003 is when Shayna Baszler made her pro mma debut at the age of 23, in a barn in the middle of nowhere for a local MMA show then known as NHB (no holds bard) for an organization called RCF (Reality Cage Fighting). Her opponent? Tina Johnson a girl that had been running her mouth because no one had beaten her. Shayna coming from a family of wrestlers wanted nothing more then to put an end to the trash talk. Little did she know it would become something she loved and through that love become the “queen of spades.

Of corse Baszler went on to defeat Johnson that night and has been proving since then that she is one of the best time and time again. Defeating the likes of Alexis Davis, Sarah D’alellio, Julie Kedzie, Roxanne Modaferri, Megumi Yabyushita and so much more. I mean some people even say she should’ve got the decision win over Sara Mcmann. Nonetheless her 15-9 record speaks for itself.Sure it’s been a battle of highs and lows even a few injuries but that doesn’t take away all Baszler has accomplished in the sport and done for the sport as a whole. Today she is regarded as one of the pioneers who paved the way for WMMA

Sure I may have not been there since Baszler’s humble beginnings but I have been there for 416 days and those are days that I am proud of. After all I’ve gotten the nickname “the general of the queens army” on social media.

A lot can change in 11 years but one thing that hasn’t changed is Shayna’s passion and drive for what she does, so here’s to a bright future of epic battles, awesome promos, twitter wars and just straight up badassery.

UFC 184 set to take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles

20141029-144924.jpg

Guys I think I’m on the verge of having a panic attack but in the best way possible. UFC184 is coming to my neck of the woods… (Well my future neck of the woods) Los Angeles California, on February 28th 2014. The excitement doesn’t stop there though because UFC president Dana White took to Instagram today to announce that on that card we will see UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey defend her title against challenger Cat Zingano in the co main event. (That bout was originally scheduled for UFC 182 on January 3rd in Las Vegas) also on the card for UFC184 will be Chris Weidman defending his middle weight title against challenger Vitor Bellfort in the main event.

You can check out the video here http://instagram.com/p/uwCxy7vA3p/

This is a HUGE deal for me because I’ve seen 2/4 of the 4horsewomen fight live (marina Shafir and Shayna Baszler) and to be quite honest I always thought Rousey would be out of my reach since her fights tend to always be in vegas. I’ll be moving to LA in December so the timing is perfect.

I can assure you that if I do indeed attend UFC184 I’ll give you guys play by play exclusive coverage on our twitter account @vasquezsports

Is there anyone like me that’s super excited about this announcement? Let me know by sounding off in the comments.

Ronda Rousey gets involved in PWG event

20141020-155033.jpg

This past Friday on October 17th 2014 UFC battemweight champion Ronda Rousey attended the PWG (pro wrestling Guerrilla) event in Reseda California with fellow training partners and UFC fighters Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke. Rousey had to leave the event early since she had training in the morning the next day as she preps for her title defense in January. However the champ had some fun before jetting out. The “rowdy” one got involved in one of the matches directly from where she was sitting in the front row. She was prompted by one of the wrestlers to chop his opponents chest in Ric Flair fashion and Rousey did just that which led to cheers and woos from the crowd. You can read more on the story here http://www.foxsports.com/ufc/haymaker/ronda-rousey-gets-involved-in-local-california-pro-wrestling-show-101914?cmpid=tsmtw:fscom:ufconfox

Man oh man what I would’ve given to see that happen. Kudos to the wrestlers of PWG for getting the crowd involved and putting on a show all on their own.

Things like this really really make me want a “4Horsewomen” invasion in the WWE: I know without a shadow of a doubt it would be “best for business” I guess only time will tell

Ronda Rousey Says She Would Rather Die Than Lose

Ronda Rousey appeared on “Jim Rome on Showtime” recently. Rousey discussed why she would never submit during a fight.

Rousey said: “There have been times during a fight when I thought I was going to die. I thought to myself, I would rather break my neck than lose a fight. I will never tap out of a fight because I know the feeling of losing. I know that I would rather die than lose a fight. It’s not that I’ve never lost, it’s that I’ve lost at the worst times, so I know what a loss is. That’s why I want to win so much more than these other girls.”

Since Rousey moved from Judo, where she won a Olympic bronze medal, to MMA, she has won all 10 of her pro fights.

Ronda Rousey Says Cyborg Is An Embarrassment To Women’s MMA & Her Country

20140625-152824.jpg

Ronda Rousey says Cris “Cyborg” Justino Is an embarrassment to Women’s MMA and the sport & her country. Cyborg responds to Rousey.

“I’m the champion. I fight whoever comes up. She’s the one who has options, not me. I’m exactly where I was when she left and she can come back and give it a try anytime. She’ll get what she deserves. She really embarrassed not just women’s MMA and the sport, she embarrassed her country, as well. I’m happy to set it straight.”

“She says she so ‘desperately wants (the fight). Then how come the day after they announced out-of-competition drug testing in the UFC she asked to be released? If you so desperately wanted a fight you would come fight me, not run away. I think she’s saying one thing and doing another. I’ve always been (in the UFC). I’m not going anywhere.”

“When I was Strikeforce champ she was in my weight class at 145 and she ran to 135 so she cannot fight me,” Cyborg told Submission Radio last week. “She’s trying to use my mistake saying, ‘Ah she don’t want to be in the UFC because of heavy doping test, ‘ but she’s lying because I don’t go to the UFC because I have to cut for 135 and at the time when I talked to the UFC I wasn’t ready for this.”

“I think she keeps talking and keeps running and I think if I make 135 she cannot run anymore, because everybody, all the fans want to watch the fight and I think the only way fro this fight to happen and to make her shut up is to make 135.”

Jessica Eye vs Leslie Smith set for UFC180

20140926-194303.jpg

The WMMA God’s are trying to kill me, and quite possibly the whole WMMA fan base. It may sound like a negative connotation but THIS is a good thing. Earlier today it was announced that Zingano will be next to face Rousey if she could beat Nunes tomorrow. Dana also said he would like Rousey to have a quick turn around and fight in march as well!

The awesome news doesn’t stop there because its official that when the UFC makes their first appearance in Mexico not only will heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez be defending his title against Fabricio Werdum but we also have an AWESOME women’s batemweight bout.

It’ll be Jessica “Evil” Eye VS Leslie “Peacemaker Smith. Eye is looking for her first official UFC win. In October 13th of last year Eye picked up a split decision win against Sara Kaufman but it was overturned due to Eye’s usage of marijuana. Then in February she suffered a lost to Alexis Davis.

As far as smith goes she is coming off a win over Jessamyn Duke from July. This fight should be a good one. Who’s excited? I know I am 🙂
