Broken Matt Hardy Files Trademark For His Name

Broken Matt Hardy has taken his first legal step to own the name. Pro Wrestling Sheet has confirmed that he filed a trademark to officially lock it down.

According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the wrestler filed for a trademark last week on “Broken Matt Hardy” for “Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer.”

As we previously reported, sources close to Matt says his Impact deal gave them the ability to profit off of anything already filmed having to do with ANY gimmick he used throughout the course of his contract … but, once that’s over, he retains ownership of his name and characters.

Impact Wrestling sources, however, say that’s not the case. They claim the current deal specifically states that their company owns all IP creations.

If that’s the case, Impact’s legal team still has time to oppose.

Matt Hardy Still Teasing Going To WWE

Despite signing with ROH, Matt Hardy is still teasing returning to WWE. Hardy tweeted the following after Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson defended their RAW tag team titles at Fastlane tonight:

The Hardys Are Reportedly Not Returning To WWE

As noted, the Hardys appeared at ROH Manhattan Mayhem VI last night and defeated The Young Bucks to win the ROH tag team titles. They cut a promo after the match and said that they have signed with the company.

During their promo they listed several ROH dates which are all before WrestleMania 33, which led many to believe that they signed a short-term deal with ROH until WrestleMania. Dave Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that word is that it is a long-term deal and they are signed with ROH for the near future, although the exact length of the deal is not known.

“They’re not going to WWE anytime soon. I do not know the length of the [ROH] deal, but it’s not a two month deal,” Meltzer said. “They’re there [in ROH].”

It was noted that a big part of the Hardys signing with ROH was creative control, and that they can work independent dates. The Hardys are also once again taking independent dates. They had recently stopped taking any indie dates because they felt that they might have not been able to fulfill them if they signed with WWE.

Bubba Ray Dudley Makes ROH Debut, ROH Manhattan Mayhem VI Results

Last night, Ring of Honor’s Manhattan Mayhem VI took place and Bubba Ray Dudley showed up to help Bobby Fish fight off Adam Cole and the rest of the Bullet Club. Here’s a video of his appearance, he also took a picture with The Hardys.

The Hardys Win ROH Tag Titles, Say They Are With ROH

The Hardys appeared at last night’s ROH show and defeated The Young Bucks to win the ROH tag team championship.

After the match the Hardys said that although people are wondering if they signed with Meekmahan, they “exist in the plane known as ROH.” They are with ROH until at least Supercard of Honor

On February 26th and 27th, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring of Honor will join together for Honor Rising. Both shows can be watched live on NJPW World (subscription is about $9 a month, please note that you will be charged once you sign up and again on the 1st, as that’s when NJPW charges all of their current subscribers) and both start at 4:30am EST. ROH To Hold First Ever Women Of Honor Tryout Camp

ROH is put out a statement that they will hold their first ever Women of Honor Tryout Camp and it will be in partnership with Japanese wrestling promotion, STARDOM. The statement also says “at least” one wrestler will be picked for a tour of Japan with STARDOM later in the year. You can read the full statement by clicking here.
