Latest On AJ Styles To WWE, Major Bullet Club Angle At NJPW Show, Rumors of more NJPW Talent Leaving

AJ Styles who is rumored to have given his notice to New Japan Pro Wrestling for a WWE main roster spot, has been pulled from advertising from several Ring of Honor shows, including the ROH 14th Anniversary PPV.

NJPW ran a angle where Bullet Club member Kenny Omega turned on AJ Styles after they defeated Shinsuke Nakamura and YOSHI-HASHI. the rest of Bullet Club including Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows also turned on Styles.

After the beatdown by the Bullet Club, Styles got to his feet and bowed to the crowd it what really seemed like a farewell for Styles, who has competed in NJPW since 2014, and took leadership of the Bullet Club after Finn Balor left.

Wrestling Observer Radio reports that there were also rumors that Rocky Romero and Tama Tonga may be leaving NJPW as well, but there is no word on if they have given their notices. Tonga is the son of legend Haku/Meng.

WrestlingINC.com reports that WWE is apparently interested in signing IWGP intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura when his contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling is up in January.

Nakamura is 35 years old and is 6’2″ tall with great charisma and speaks English. A source close to Nakamura noted that it’s one of his dreams to do something big over in the U.S.

Currently Nakamura is scheduled to defend his IWGP Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles at Wrestle Kingdom 10 on January 4, 2016 in the Tokyo Dome, however that match is in limbo because of Styles recent back issues.

AJ Styles Talks Possible Future With WWE & Retirement Plans

Former IWGP and TNA Champion AJ Styles has quickly become one of the most sought-after talents in wrestling. His New Japan Pro Wrestling run is arguably the greatest of his career, and has caused many to speculate a possible WWE offer.

In a interview with Wrestling Observer Radio, Styles said he really enjoys being with NJPW, but if WWE made him an offer he couldn’t refuse, he’d have to listen.

It also appears that Styles has about five more years in wrestling, as he said during the interview that he currently plans to retire by 42.

“At 42, that’ll be 20 years for me. I think that’s a good stopping point, if I make it. You never know what will happen next. Blowing out my knee at this point in my career could be career-ending. I was planning on retiring early, but apparently IUDs don’t work for my wife,” Styles joked.

Styles also opened up about his hopes for life after wrestling as an active performer.

“I really think I have a lot to offer, so I’d really like to open my own dojo and still be able to work with New Japan. Their guys could come stay with me and get some experience in states. If New Japan needed some more gaijin, then I would be able to supply that. That’s what I’d like to do when all this is said and done, but liking and doing are two different things,” said Styles.
