CM Punk Done In The UFC?

As seen below, UFC President Dana White appeared on FOX Sports 1 and commented on CM Punk’s UFC future. In regards to Punk having another fight, White said, “…probably not. But he wanted to try it. I like the guy, I respect the guy. He wanted to fight in the UFC. He wanted to do it, he trained for two years and he did it.”

The former WWE Champion trained for 2 years to make his UFC debut and quickly lost in the first round to Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in September. Punk indicated then that he won’t give up and is hoping for a second fight.

Ronda Rousey To Fight Amanda Nunes Dec. 30 In Las Vegas At UFC 207

Former UFC female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will attempt to reclaim her title against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 on Dec. 30 in Las Vegas.

The UFC 207 pay-per-view event takes place at T-Mobile Arena.

“Ronda Rousey has been the biggest, baddest female fighter on the planet since we got into women’s fighting,” UFC president Dana White said on the “The Herd” on Wednesday. “Ronda had a bad loss, obviously, lost her title — she’s still Ronda Rousey at the end of the day.”

Rousey (12-1) has not fought since she suffered a stunning knockout loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November. The first female to ever sign with the UFC, Rousey had recorded six consecutive title defenses, five of which ended in the first round, prior to the loss.

Fighting out of Glendale, California, Rousey was a massive favorite heading into her seventh attempted defense against Holm. The former professional boxing champion proved to be a mismatch for Rousey, however, hurting her with left hands before finishing the bout with a left head kick.

Rousey has laid low since the loss, but White said she’s been in the gym and denied her confidence has been shaken by the loss.

“It was never about a psychological problem with Ronda,” White said. “She wanted time off. She said, ‘I want to go away and relax.’ This girl worked hard for us for three years, non-stop, fight promotion after fight promotion. She wanted time off and in this sport, I say it all the time, if you even hint, ‘I want to retire of I want time off,’ you need to do it.”

Nunes (13-4) won the title by submitting Miesha Tate at UFC 200 in July. She is currently on a four-fight winning streak and has 12 career finishes in 13 wins.

Current Invicta FC featherweight champion and UFC fighter Cris “Cyborg” Justino has been loudly campaigning for a fight against Rousey. The two have gone back and forth in headlines for years and a bout between them would likely be the biggest fight in female MMA history.

According to White, should Rousey reclaim her title at UFC 207, a future matchup against Justino is likely.

“Cyborg wants that fight, Ronda wants that fight,” White said. “Ronda’s plan is to come back, win her title back. If that happens, the Cyborg fight will definitely happen.”

Jose Aldo Requests Release From UFC

Former undisputed UFC featherweight champion and current interim titleholder Jose Aldo wants out. Aldo, who was one regarded as the pound-for-pound top fighter in the world, has requested his release from the UFC after the promotion signed Conor McGregor-Eddie Alvarez for UFC 205.

Aldo, who lost the belt last year to McGregor, was looking to score a rematch with “Notorious” to crown an undisputed champion at 145 pounds. He stated in an interview with Combate out of Brazil that he was offered a fight at UFC 205 opposite either Max Holloway or Anthony Pettis, but declined because he wanted a full training camp for either opponent.

“I heard about everything that happened through my coach,” Aldo said. “He had spoken with (UFC matchmaker) Sean Shelby Saturday and Sean still had no answer about anything, and asked if I could fight on November 12. My coach said that if it would be Conor, yes, and then Sean asked him if I would fight Max Holloway or Anthony Pettis. ‘Dede’ (Pederneiras) said that for those who I’d rather do a full camp and it could be on December 10. We waited until Dana (White) publicly said that he wanted this fight with McGregor to happen. And then we expected it to happen: I’d get my rematch to unify the featherweight belts, or I’d have my belt back and fight Holloway or Pettis, since Dana said all the time that Conor couldn’t keep both belts. But, to my surprise, I heard last night about the fight between McGregor and Eddie Alvarez, which was also denied by Dana last week. And to make it worse, he would keep the featherweight belt, and possibly having two belts at the same time.”

Aldo isn’t looking to compete elsewhere, as he added that he wants to “follow a career in another sport. That’s what I want.” The Brazilian was a standout soccer player before embarking on an MMA career beginning in 2004. He has defeated the likes of Frankie Edgar, Kenny Florian, Urijah Faber and Chad Mendes during his run.

Cris Cyborg Speaks Out On Ronda Rousey, Weight-Cut;

Source: WrestlingINC

Ask Cris “Cyborg” Justino her thoughts on Ronda Rousey or cutting weight and the Brazilian gets a little testy. Justino, the reigning Invicta FC featherweight champion, returns to the Octagon this Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 95 to take on Lina Lansberg in the main event. Over the past several days, Justino has been bombarded with questions about the cut to 140 pounds for the catchweight contest.

“I’m getting down. It’ll be OK,” she said during an interview on UFC Tonight. “This time we used birth control. I hold more water, and have less time to make 140. I think it’ll be OK. I trust George Lockhart. I hope everything will be OK on Friday.”

Reports that Cyborg has had to cut 20-plus pounds just this week have filled social media. She offered up some insight into it all and did say that she feels capable of making the signed weight.

As for her nemesis, Rousey, that is another question that continues to be presented to her. The two have long been rumored for a potential fight, though Rousey is currently sidelined.

Chael Sonnen Parts Ways With UFC, Signs With Bellator

The bad guy is headed to Bellator.

In what can only be described as a shocking turn of events, Chael Sonnen has signed a multi-fight contract with Bellator MMA after the UFC recently granted him his release. Terms of the release or the new deal were not immediately available.

MMA Fighting confirmed the news with both UFC and Bellator officials after an initial report byThe Associated Press.

Sonnen, 39, will enter Bellator with a 29-14-1 professional record, however, he has not fought since his Nov. 2013 loss to Rashad Evans. He recently served a two-year suspension handed by the Nevada Athletic Commission for failing multiple drug tests in 2014.

Sonnen took to Twitter shortly after the news broke:

“Chael is an incredible athlete that has competed at the very highest levels of the sport,” Bellator MMA President Scott Coker stated, “and I know that he is going to continue to do just that here at Bellator. When we were signing him, Chael was adamant that he wants to compete in three divisions here. He already has unfinished business with Wanderlei Silva, but he also wants to fight guys like Tito Ortiz, Fedor Emelianenko and even Rory MacDonald at middleweight. These are all fights that I’d be very inclined to watch, so hopefully we can put some, if not all of these match-ups together starting before the end of the year.”

Sonnen told The MMA Hour in July that he was interested in fighting again and had officially entered the UFC’s USADA drug testing pool.

“I definitely have that itch,” Sonnen said. “I fantasize about it. But it’s one step at a time. I’m not holding back from you. I’m not acting like my return is some kind of breaking news. I’d tell it to you right now. But I have to pass this first test, quite frankly. It’s still out there. I’ve gotta pass it. If I pass that, I’ll pass all of them. But I have to know that everything is out. Boom, step one down.”

In the end, though, it didn’t matter as Sonnen, one of the most popular and polarizing figures in recent MMA history, is headed to Bellator.

It’s unclear when he’ll debut for the promotion, but it could come before the year ends. A Nov. 19 fight against Tito Ortiz in San Jose has been discussed.

CM Punk Gets Destroyed In His UFC Debut, Cuts Great Promo After – ‘Cult Of Personality’ Entrance

CM Punk made his UFC debut at UFC 203 tonight, and the fight went pretty much as most expected.

Punk’s opponent, Mickey Gall, got his wish and came out to “Oh Mickey, You’re So Fine,” which UFC President Dana White had nixed earlier this week, but changed his mind after fan backlash. Punk got a great pop coming out to his old wrestling theme, “Cult of Personality.”

Almost immediately, Punk was taken down. Gall landed some hard ground and pound and got his back. Punk escaped Gall’s first attempt at a rear naked choke, but was forced to submit to the second at 2:14 of the first round. Punk’s face and ear were a mess after the fight.

After the fight, Gall refused to say anything bad about Punk, instead saying that there’s too much hate and to “f–k the hate, we’re all going to be dead in a hundred years.” He said the fight was a great opportunity, then called out Sage Northcutt, stating that he was “corny.”

Despite the mauling, Punk spoke to Joe Rogan after the fight and said that he still plans to fight again.

“In life you go big or you go home, I just like to take challenges,” Punk said. “This was a hell of a mountain to try to climb and I didn’t get to the summit today, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to give up.

“I will be back, believe it or not, this was the most fun I’ve ever had,” Punk continued. “It was the second best day of my life after marrying my wife. I know there’s a lot of doubters, but life’s about falling down and getting up. It doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down, it’s about getting back up. So if there’s any kid out there who’s told be a parent, a teacher or a coach or somebody that they’re supposed to look up to, somebody that’s supposed to push them and believe in them and they’re told no, Visit Wrestling Inc.,don’t listen to them. Believe in yourself. Sometimes the outcome isn’t always what you desire it to be, but the true failure in life is not trying at all. I know that sounds preachy and kind of weird for a guy that just got beat up, but f–k it. This is the time of my life, thank you Cleveland!”

UFC Star Miesha Tate Rescues 6-Year-Old With Broken Arm While Hiking

Source: MSN.com

Most UFC fighters don’t wear capes to the octagon as part of their kits. Miesha Tate might have to start that trend going forward, though.

The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion was out hiking Sunday when she found a family in need at the top of the mountain. Their six-year-old daughter, Kai, had broken her arm, and the parents were going to have to carry her down the 2.6 mile trail before she could get medical attention.

The girl’s mother was struggling to do so when Tate arrived.

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey has yet to decide when she will fight again. And UFC president Dana White recently stated that it will not be at UFC 205 this November. But when she does compete again, White sees record-breaking numbers in her future.

“I think that Ronda Rousey’s return will be the biggest pay-per-view we’ve ever done,” White said during a recent appearance on “The Herd” on FOX Sports 1.
