Tony Khan Provides Insight on Adam Cole’s Absence, Says In-Ring Return Would Require “The Right Situation”

Adam Cole’s status has been one of the bigger question marks in AEW over the past several months, and Tony Khan has now offered a clearer—though still cautious—update on where things stand.

Cole has been away since AEW All In: Texas, where he vacated the TNT Championship after informing Khan he wasn’t well enough to compete. Reports since then have suggested his latest setback is tied to concussion-related issues, adding another layer to a long road of injuries that already included the serious ankle injury that sidelined him for over a year.

During a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Khan opened up about the situation and made it clear that Cole’s health is the priority. According to the AEW President, getting the call on the morning of All In was “incredibly difficult,” especially given how hard Cole had battled back from previous injuries to rebuild momentum in 2025 and reclaim a top spot as TNT Champion.

Khan emphasized that Cole’s ankle injury alone could have ended his career, noting the pain and recovery process were far more serious than many realized. Cole’s comeback had been one of the more inspiring stories in AEW before this latest setback forced him to step away again.

As for an eventual return to the ring? Khan didn’t shut the door, but he made it clear that AEW will only consider it if every factor—medically and situationally—lines up. He expressed that Cole will always have a place within the company, even if wrestling isn’t in the immediate picture. Cole has already contributed as a commentator and show host, and Khan believes those avenues remain open whenever Cole feels ready to resume regular work.

Khan stressed that anything involving head injuries has to be treated with caution, and AEW would only move forward if it can ensure the safest possible environment for Cole and everyone involved.

For now, the message is simple: Adam Cole’s health comes first, and AEW is leaving the door open—but not rushing anything.

AEW’s Rebel Reveals Lung Cancer Diagnosis, Shares Health Battle With Fans

AEW personality Rebel (Tanea Brooks) has shared heartbreaking news with fans, announcing on social media that she’s been diagnosed with primary pulmonary lymphoma, a rare form of lung cancer. According to Rebel, what doctors initially believed was a severe case of pneumonia last year turned out to be cancer that had gone undetected.

On top of the diagnosis, Rebel revealed she is also dealing with a neurological condition that has impacted her speech and mobility. She’s preparing to begin rehab soon and is determined to fight both the cancer and the ongoing neurological issues head-on.

Rebel has been absent from AEW programming since early 2023, and while her on-screen presence has been missed, the wrestling community is already rallying behind her. Fans and peers alike have flooded social media with support, encouragement, and well-wishes as she begins her treatment journey.

Backstage Update On AEW Stars After Brutal Blood & Guts

AEW’s annual Blood & Guts spectacle has come and gone, and as expected, the double-cage war left its mark on everyone involved. With shattered glass, broken mirrors, and enough bloodshed to fill an arena, fans naturally wondered just how banged up the roster was after Wednesday’s chaos in Greensboro.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, the overall verdict is a lot more positive than you might expect.

Women’s Blood & Guts: Banged Up, But Battling Through

Jamie Hayter walked out of the cage bruised and beaten, reportedly even chipping some teeth during the match. Still, one AEW source told Fightful she was “as badass as you’d expect,” which shouldn’t surprise anyone who saw the former Women’s Champion throw herself into the violence.

Skye Blue arguably had the roughest night visually—entering first for her team and wearing a 45-minute crimson mask—but despite being the bloodiest competitor on the card, she was said to be completely fine once she got backstage.

Men’s Blood & Guts: No Major Injuries Reported

As of Fightful’s report, AEW hadn’t provided specifics on the condition of the men’s teams, but the early indication is that no serious injuries occurred—a minor miracle considering the carnage that typically comes with Blood & Guts.

Hangman vs. Hobbs Also Escapes Injury Scare

The night’s lone non–Blood & Guts bout—a wild Falls Count Anywhere fight between Hangman Page and Powerhouse Hobbs—also wrapped without any major medical issues. AEW sources described both men as “sore,” but everything reportedly went exactly as planned.

A Thinner Roster Behind the Scenes

Interestingly, AEW had fewer roster members on hand than usual. With only three matches booked and AEW Collision set to air live this Saturday, the company traveled with a smaller crew—making the overall lack of injuries even more fortunate.

For a show built on violence and risk, AEW’s latest Blood & Guts may go down as one of the safer entries in the history of the match—at least in terms of long-term damage. The visuals were brutal, but behind the curtain, it sounds like the roster made it through the war in surprisingly good shape.

Ric Flair Misses Planned AEW Dynamite Segment Due to Injury, Backstage Scramble Ensues

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was expected to resurface on AEW Dynamite this week alongside longtime rival Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat—at least, that was the plan on paper. Instead, only Steamboat made it onto the broadcast, leaving many fans wondering why Flair, who was advertised for the segment, never hit the stage.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Flair was in the building but unable to appear due to a recently suffered torn rotator cuff. Dave Meltzer reported that Flair’s injury came from a fall, though details are still unclear. Despite showing up to the arena, Flair was said to be in significant pain throughout the day.

Meltzer noted that Flair even removed his arm from its sling while speaking to fans before the show began—apparently not wanting anyone to notice he was hurt. After addressing the crowd, Flair quietly left the venue before Dynamite went live.

While Meltzer wasn’t 100% certain Flair was originally scripted to participate in the Steamboat/FTR promo segment, the references made to Flair during the broadcast strongly suggest he was meant to be part of the angle. With Flair unable to perform, AEW reportedly had to adjust the segment on short notice—a change that Bryan Alvarez believes contributed to Steamboat coming off “frantic” during his promo.

Flair’s most recent AEW television appearance came during the build to Sting’s retirement earlier this year. He has since acknowledged ongoing health issues as the primary reason for his light AEW schedule.

As of now, there’s no word on when (or if) Flair will return to AEW programming, but the company clearly had plans for “The Nature Boy” on Dynamite. Whether those plans get revisited once he recovers remains to be seen.

Jeff Jarrett No Longer AEW’s Manager of Live Events

It looks like Jeff Jarrett’s backstage run with AEW has quietly come to an end. According to a new report from Fightful, the WWE Hall of Famer is no longer serving as AEW’s Manager of Live Events and hasn’t held that position “for a while.”

Jarrett’s departure from the role appears to be part of a behind-the-scenes shake-up, as AEW recently posted a listing to hire a new Live Events Manager, signaling that the company is moving forward with a fresh approach to its touring and event operations.

For now, Jarrett remains under contract as an on-screen performer, though his in-ring activity has slowed significantly in 2025. His last notable AEW storyline came earlier this year in a feud involving MJF, and he hasn’t been featured on television since.

While there’s no official word on when—or if—Jarrett will return to AEW programming, his shift away from the live events department marks another change in the company’s evolving backstage structure.

Jarrett joined AEW in late 2022, taking on multiple roles both on-camera and behind the curtain. Given his decades of experience promoting wrestling events across the globe, his exit from the live event position could mark the end of one chapter for “Double J,” while leaving the door open for what comes next—either inside AEW or beyond.

Backstage Drama Reportedly Leads to Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize Walking Out of AEW Collision

It looks like things got a little tense behind the scenes at AEW Collision recently. Former WWE Superstar Tegan Nox, now competing under her pre-WWE name Nixon Newell, made her AEW debut on the October 25 episode of Collision alongside her real-life partner Miranda Alize. The duo confronted Anna Jay and Tay Melo (collectively known as TayJay), setting the stage for what looked to be a fun new women’s rivalry.

After teaming up the following week to face Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir, Newell and Alize were scheduled to meet TayJay in tag action on the November 8 edition of Collision. But when the show went live, fans instead saw TayJay take on Maya World and Hyan—a sudden change that immediately sparked speculation online.

According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Newell and Alize actually walked out of the Collision taping less than an hour before showtime. The two were reportedly unhappy with the planned outcome of their match, which would’ve seen them lose to TayJay. Both women later took to social media to offer cryptic comments—Newell reminded fans that “not everything you read is true,” while Alize hinted they’d have more to say soon, sharing fan reactions on X (formerly Twitter).

A follow-up report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select painted a fuller picture. Sources told Fightful that the walkout wasn’t just about losing—it was about how little time the match was given. The segment was reportedly only going to last around three minutes, which didn’t sit well with either woman. Alize was said to be the more outspoken of the two, but Newell also expressed frustration over the situation.

Backstage reaction within AEW was described as “shocked,” with many in the locker room surprised by how things unfolded. Several talents reportedly sympathized with Newell’s struggles since her WWE release, even advocating for her to get opportunities in AEW.
