Jim Ross Knows The “Sting” Secret For Tonight’s Raw…. But He’s Not Telling

Jim Ross has posted a new blog on his website. Regarding tonight’s “Sting” related teaser he said the following….

The questions that I get regarding the @Sting Tweet of 7-14-14 are often times comical. Some fans feel compelled that they MUST know what is going to occur tonight on RAW. Yes, I know but I’m not in the Don Jardine business so my suggestion is to simply watch RAW and find out for yourself. No matter what occurs, many will b—h tomorrow that it wasn’t what they wanted.

The first step of whatever Sting may or may not do with WWE begins tonight on RAW and where it ends is anyone’s guess. For me, it’s a no brainer but I’m arguably biased. Sting will be on the Ross Report podcast on Tuesday July 29.

BJ Penn announces retirement

20140707-122220.jpg

Prior to last night the last time we saw BJ Penn in the octagon was in December of 2012 when he lost to Rory McDonald via unanimous decision. Many people wondered if BJ would make a return. Despite the lost from McDonald Penn is arguably one of the greatest lightweight fighters of all time & his record of (16-10-2) speaks for itself even if people don’t think it’s a good one because in some ways Penn really did break the mold.

It was his opponent from last night Frankie Edgar who had previously beaten him twice that convinced Penn to get back in competition in early 2014. Last night at the ultimate fighter 19 finally Edgar knocked out penn in the 3rd round.

It was at the post fight press conference where Penn announced his retirement & said this. “This is the end I would’ve complained and complained that I could do it again now I know I can’t” you can check out what else penn had to say here http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/news/breaking-santino-marella-retires

BJ Penn is one of the few fighters to hold a world title in multiple weight classes and he truly is a legend in his own right.

Santino Marella announces retirement

20140706-181959.jpg

It is being reported on the inter webs that according to fans it attendance at the “WWE LIVE” show in Toronto CA today, professional wrestler Santino Marella (real name Anthony Carelli) announced his retirement. Santino was billed as Italian but really is Canadian. According to fans Marella came out and said he’s suffered his third neck injury and he’s sorry he can’t preform anymore but is proud to be Canadian.

Santino Marella made his debut in 2003 as a fan in the crowd who challenged the late Umaga for the IC title and actually ended up winning the title with a little help from Bobby Lashly

He was a face his entire time with the WWE & served predominately as a comedic relief. One of his most memorable moments was his “Santina” persona who just so happened to win the very first “Miss Wrestlemania battle royal” at Wrestlemania 25

On behalf of everyone here at DTRTwrestling we would like to wish Santino all the best and thank him for the memories.
Are you a fan of Santino and are you saddened by the news? What is your favorite Santino moment? Let us know.

Ronda Rousey injuries.

20140706-104404.jpg

Don’t let the headline scare you. Rousey did indeed sustain injuries last night in her title defense against Alexis Davis but nothing to serious. The 1st being a hand injury. Apparently Rousey has been working with this injury for quite sometime. She’s had it ever since before her fight with Sarah Mcmann in February. Rousey says in her last two fight camps she kept ripping her knuckle open and she wrapped it up dismissing it as nothing serious. She admits she should’ve taken it more seriously because the ripping of the knuckles eventually became a cyst. With the punches she landed on Davis the cyst popped requiring the champ to get 9 stitches. Rousey now says she hopes the cyst is gone now but will be going to the doctor to get it checked out

The 2nd injury isn’t a injury rather then a precautionary measure After years of combat she’s going to get her knee scoped out. She says its nothing serious but it’s more of maitnence she needs to be doing. In a post fight interview last night she says she expects to be out for four weeks. She also had this to say about her injuries. “It’s my right hand and my right knee. It’s cool I’m left handed anyway”

UFC 175 results

20140706-101059.jpg

UFC 175 took place from Las Vegas Nevada at Mandalay Bay Casino (last night on July 5th) with it being fight week and all it was sure to be an exciting card and I gotta say it indeed delivered. There were two titles on the line. The middleweight title and the women’s batemweight title. The 1st title defense featured Ronda Rousey (C) vs Alexis Davis, in a bout that lasted an astonishing 16 secs! Rousey came out swinging and hit Davis with an overhand right which by this time Davis was already rocked. Rousey then delivered one of her infamous judo throws followed up by a series of punches to the face of Davis which called for a stoppage by the referee.

In the second title bout we saw Chris Weidman (C) vs Lyoto Machida. Let me just say this fight was an AMAZING thrill ride. The bout went all 5 rounds, the first two easily belonging to Weidman the third and forth could’ve been anyone’s game and the 5th had Machida finishing strong. In the end the judges scored it as a unanimous decision in the favor of weidman.

So there you have it both Americans retained their titles last night in champion like fashion.

Other note notable mentions goes to Stefan Struve and Matt Mitrione their bout was called off when (the returning Struve) blacked out in the locker room.
Another stand out fight for me would be the one between Uriah Hall and Thiago Santos in which Uriah won via unanimous decision dispute a broken toe that was sticking outside of the skin. That’s a heart of a true fighter
forsure. You can check out the full results here

All and all I really did enjoy this card even if the main reason why I paid only lasted 16 secs. What did you guys think? Did you enjoy UFC175? Let us know.

Rousey vs Davis (in photos)

The co main event last night at UFC175 featured the undefeated UFC women’s Batemweight champion Ronda Rousey defending her title against challenger Alexis Davis. Now for this fight I hope nobody went to use the restroom or went to get snacks because by the time you would’ve gotten back to your tv it would’ve been over. In fact the walk out entrances were longer then the actual fight itself! The fight lasted all of 16 secs! With Rousey picking up the win via TKO. This is Rousey’s 2nd TKO win of her career and the fastest bout she’s ever had while competing in the UFC. I will be doing another post later about UFC175 as a whole but for now please enjoy these pictures of Rousey vs Davis

WWE reinstates Emma

20140702-152449.jpg

Thank you to the wrestling God’s above!
Upon further observation the WWE has decided to reinstate diva Emma. The news hit the inter webs nearly 3 hours ago that she had been released but now it’s a whole different story as being reported on wwe.com

I’m so happy right now that I feel like braking out in full blown Emmalution. Thank you WWE for making the right call.

WWE diva Emma released

20140702-142806.jpg

Here I was having a great day hanging with my best friend and in a blink of an eye my day went from great to pretty crappy. It was reported on WWE.com that Diva Tenille Dashwood better known as Emma has been released from the flagship that is known as WWE. Emma was a fan favorite in NXT with the start of the Emmalution and how can one forget her phenomenal match with Paige on “NXT arrival” earlier this year? Emma made her debut In WWE as “a sign holder” getting the universe to join her in the Emmalution, and eventually was paired up with Santino Merella.

It was reported monday night that Emma was arrested on shoplifting charges. It’s being said that WWE had no eventual plans for her and this shop lifting incident is what led to the decision to let her go. It should be noted that WWE had originally stated that it was a misunderstanding and that they were behind Emma.

Now here’s my take on the situation and please excuse me for being blunt but I think it’s complete BULLSHIT. How is it fair that Cameron can have a DUI and she’s still with the company, or how about Jack swagger and Randy Orton violating the wellness program numerous times and yet they still have jobs?? It’s completely unfair. WWE has truly dropped the ball on her. She’s a true talent that was never given a real chance to shine on the main roster. It’s sad for me & Emmacrats alike because she really was something special.

On behalf of everyone here I would like to wish Emma nothing but the very best.

Paige Losing The Divas Championship Will Bring Out The “Anti-Diva”

Check out the video below from this week’s Raw fallout. I think this is a good sign of things  to come. Keep reading on I explain.

Many WWE fans are furious at the fact that Paige lost the Divas title to the returning AJ Lee on last night’s Raw. Many fail to see the bigger picture and the fact that this is for Paige’s benefit. Since coming up to the main roster after WrestleMania 30, those fans who have followed Paige since the beginning have been asking for the “Anti-Diva”. The Paige they grew to respect in NXT who didn’t strive to be a Diva but just to wrestle and change the perception of female wrestlers in the WWE.

Page losing the title to AJ provides the creative direction needed to bring back the Paige the NXT fans originally grew to respect. Last night was not the end but only the beginning for what I see as an amazing rivalry between AJ and Paige, this time however we will see Paige shine even more in the persona she is most comfortable with. Fighting the established image of what a diva is and her ruthless nature. Please don’t be upset for AJ Lee winning the championship was the fuel to the fire to bring out the best in Paige.

With WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of the summer just around the corner (Summerslam) I predict we will see a buildup to one of the best Divas matches in years. Sometimes we need to take off our fan caps and put on the creative. We need to look at the bigger picture and what is down the road. When we do this, we gain a greater appreciation for the heat generated by what happened last night on Raw.

Is there a chance that WWE creative could drop the ball with this build? Of course, but I really believe what is to come in the next several weeks between AJ Lee and Paige will serve as the foundation for an awesome confrontation in August.  Just give it a chance and watch the saga unfold. I think we are in for something really special.
