The Bella Twins Feud – From A Twin’s Perspective

As a twin myself, the current storyline featuring the Bella Twins has obviously got my attention. It’s common sense to put the two against each other. Siblings, in particular twins have a special connection. They are able to finish each other’s sentences and often share emotional feelings etc.

I am all for this storyline, it was my decision to dedicate a whole hour of our podcast last week to discussing the angle. It carries so much more interest with the majority of fans then the Paige and AJ angle which in my opinion has not gone anywhere significant. As much as I am a fan of Paige her current angle is not working.

This past Monday night on Raw I was very impressed with the intensity of the segment between the Bellas. It had the perfect mixture of truth and fiction. The acting was top notch by both ladies and was in my opinion the best segment of the evening.

However, I take issue with a line said by Nikki Bella at the end that in my opinion went over the line. It was something that in my opinion had no place in the segment and WWE creative couldn’t have paid me to say the line to my own twin. The line in question you ask? “I wish you died in the womb”.

I’m all for generating good heel heat, even to the point of making the viewer uncomfortable. Even though it was acting and most likely a line that was said while caught up in the moment it was just plain wrong. There is no doubt that in reality the Bellas love each other. That is not coming to question here. What the issue comes down to is boundaries. The average Raw episode creative outlines are overseen by a group of writers either from soap operas or other television programs. The chances of something getting approved for air that shouldn’t be is defiantly there.

I also have to wonder what was add-lib? Often times veteran members of the WWE are allowed to cut their own promo and simply given start and end points to go from. The reality that some real feelings made it’s way into Nikki Bella’s promo is very possible. A good actor is able to draw from real emotions in order to pull off a good scene. So could this have been the case on Monday night?

This is not a form of protest or calling for the angle to be ended. This is simply a request to tone down the language used to further the storyline. As much as I appreciate this current storyline I feel like somewhere along the way this could go just too far and end up hurting both of the talents involved and their family. In recent years the WWE has prided itself on going back to entertainment for the whole family. Even releasing “Scooby-Doo” films and an upcoming “Flintstones” movie next year.

All I am asking from here on forward regarding this storyline is to remember your audience. Remember the impressionable young viewer, remember your anti-bullying efforts but most importantly WWE, remember your own motto “We put SMILES on people’s faces.”

Tonight WWE held their 2nd biggest PPV of the year “Summerslam” in Los Angeles CA. With it be held in LA one would expect to see some big names in the crowd, and indeed we did. The camera showed UFC Women’s Batemweight champion Ronda Rousey in the crowd. They even gave her a notable mention. Also in the crowd were the rest of the “4Horsewomen” and MMA stars Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. The girls were seeing backstage with WWE divas Paige and Natalya, WWE superstars Dalph Ziggler, Brock Lesnar and legendary manager Paul Heyman.
The love doesn’t stop there though because Stephanie McMahon flashed the “4’s” to the girls as she walked out to her match with Brie Bella (which can be seen here https://gfycat.com/ifrt/DigitalHeavenlyAmericanbulldog)

Big brother 16 contestant gets TNA try out

20140814-134643.jpg

I may not be an avid follower of TNA but I am indeed a avid follower of the reality based completion show Big Brother. Big brother is follows 16 individuals on a weekly basis in where they’re all put under one roof. Each week they have to compete in things such as the “HOH completion” and “power of veto competition” it’s a show where alliances are made & lots of betrayal happens, possibly even some showmance all in the name of winning $50,000.

So why am I talking about a reality tv show on a wrestling site you ask? Well Big brother is currently in its 16 seasons and one of its contestants who got eliminated in the 2nd week Paola “the DJ who loves to party” has had a try out match for TNA. (She can be seen above with fellow TNA worlers)

Again I don’t watch TNA but I think it’s kind of cool that someone I have knowledge of because of a show I enjoy may be joining the company. I just hope she’s there for the right reasons and not just to add a bullet point to her resume cuz I can’t stand when people do that.

Marloes Coenen & Julia Budd sign to Bellator MMA

20140814-095144.jpg

On Monday rumors started circulating that Bellator MMA would be the new home of legendary Gina Carano, since then owner of Bellator Scott Coker has denied that rumor but other sources say it has indeed been in talks. While we wait for those answers however I’m sure this morning’s announcement will hold us over until then. It was announced this morning that the newest members of Bellators 145lb decision are none other then long time WMMA standouts Marloes Coenen & Julia Budd. http://www.bellator.com/articles/bellator-mma-sign-julia-budd-marloes-coenen

I don’t know about you but I think that’s huge and for what it’s worth I think Coker is a smart business man. The UFC’s main women’s division is the 135 division with Bellator focusing on the 145ers Dana white and Scott Coker won’t have to be chopping at the bit for female stars. Further more this indeed puts Bellator right up there in completion with the flagship of MMA that is the “UFC”.

What do you guys think of this announcement, and what 145er would you like to see in Bellator next?
