TNA Recap: April 4 2013

Aces & Eights came to the ring. Mr. Anderson said he has a special package. Anderson holding up the package said AJ Styles this cut is for you & I hope you make the right decision brother. Devon had a envelope that he said was for Brooke that Bully Ray will give to her tonight. Devon said he guarantees that it will give a new meaning to a changed relationship. D’Lo Brown said he has a gift but not one he gave but one he received. D’Lo said he received a letter from TNA World Headquarters. He said it was a notice of termination from TNA. D’Lo said he deserved more than a letter. D’Lo said he wants an someone from the TNA front office to come out here to tell him he is fired to his face. Kurt Angle came out & said & that he is going to walk down to the ring & look D’Lo eye to eye & tell him how he really feels. Angle went to the ring & attacked D’Lo. Aces & Eights jumped on Angle but Angle had backup in Magnus, Samoa Joe, Eric Young & Joseph Park. A brawl broke out.

Backstage Joey Ryan asked a favor of Brooke Hogan. Ryan offered to referee the Knockouts match. Brooke reluctantly accepted his offer but told him to not touch the girls.

Tara & Gail Kim vs Taryn Terrell & Velvet Sky: Joey Ryan even though told by Brooke to not touch the girls couldn’t keep his hands off them. When a pin was attempted he wouldn’t count instead he would get behind them a stare at them in a real sleazy manner. Gail Kim seemed to enjoy the attention from Ryan. Gail & Tara got the win. After the match Taryn & Velvet pretended to be interested in Ryan & Taryn gave Ryan a low blow from behind while Ryan was distracted by Velvet.

TNA Tag Team Championship Match Contract Signing for Tag Team Champs Bobby Roode & Austin Aries vs Chavo Guerrero Jr. & Hernandez: Roode said Chavo & Hernandez can’t hold a candle to him & Aries. Chavo said he is a Guerrero & Hernandez is strong as a son of a gun. Aries said lets make things more interesting by adding some perks for the winners to the contract. Roode & Aries added a fruit basket, green M & M’s & more money for the winners purse. Chavo & Hernandez added a stipulation. Roode & Aries added another stipulation. they all signed the contract. Jeremy Borash announced the stipulations that was added. The match will be a 2 out of 3 Falls match & if Chavo & Hernandez lose they can’t ever team together again.

Gut Check Match: Adam Pearce vs Magno: Pearce got the win by holding on to the ropes for leverage during the pin cover.

Backstage Mr. Anderson with other ACEs & Eights members talked to AJ Styles. Anderson gave AJ a Aces & Eights jacket & told him to try it on.

Backstage Hulk Hogan was asked for an update on Sting. Hogan said Sting isn’t here. Hogan said he needs warriors not politicians. Hogan said he is going to call out a certain warrior because he isn’t sure where he stands.

Backstage Joseph Park talked to Kurt Angle. Park said he is here to fight & will do whatever it takes. Angle told Park to follow his lead & if you see a opportunity take it.

Hogan came to the ring. Hogan said he wont make a mistake again because he is going to listen to his gut. Hogan called out AJ Styles to the ring. AJ came to the ring carrying the Aces & Eights jacket. Hogan asked if that was his decision AJ has made because of the Aces & Eights jacket AJ was holding. Hogan said he understands the personal stuff that AJ went through. Hogan told AJ that TNA is his family. Hogan said he is looking at a different AJ & is praying to God that he isn’t going down the path of Aces & Eights because the man that we need is the man he is looking at the AJ Styles that is dangerous. Hogan asked AJ for help. AJ said to Hogan you want me to help you. Hogan said yes. James Storm interrupted & came to the ring. Storm said it bothers him that last week AJ just stood & watched while Aces & Eights jumped him. Storm said every time we clock in we come down that isle & get in this ring & perform for the fans because that is what we love to do. Storm said to AJ that we built this & now you want to join them(Aces & Eights). Storm told AJ to go ahead because he isn’t the same guy. Storm told AJ to clock out before you get knocked out. AJ walked away & was staring down at the Aces & Eights jacket. Hogan was heard asking Storm what was that about.

Backstage Hogan was asked what the bottom line with AJ is. Hogan said AJ has 1 week to give him an answer. Hogan said AJ is either part of this company or he is done. Hogan said he has had it.

X-Division Qualifying Match: Sonjay Dutt vs Mason Andrews vs Petey Williams: Williams got the win by hitting Andrews with the flip powerdriver called The Canadian Destroyer.

Aces & Eights in the clubhouse. Bully Ray said he isn’t in a good mood but it isn’t their fault its Kurt Angle & his punk friends fault. Bully said lets go out their & kick their ass, take their names & take their souls. Devon asked Bully if he is ready to deal with this thing with Brooke. Bully smiled & said he misses his wife & that she took good care of him. Bully said he is going out there & look his wife in the eyes, going to take her by the hand & is going to hand her this envelope & after that they will all be able to move forward. They toasted & said when you ride with the Aces & Eights you’ll never walk alone.

10 Man Tag Match: Aces & Eights members Devon, DOC, Knux, Wes Briscoe & Garett Bischoff vs Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, Magnus, Eric Young & Joseph Park: Aces & Eights got the win after DOC hit Park with a low blow.

Backstage Hogan told Brooke that it doesn’t feel right. Brooke said she has to do it & will take a few guys with her. Brooke said Bully probably will just give her some divorce papers & that she will be OK.

Bully Ray came to the ring with the envelope. Bully talked about the rematch with Jeff Hardy next week. Bully called Hardy the stupidest person ever for challenging him to a match tables, ladders & chairs. Bully called Brooke to the ring. Brooke came to the ring with 2 security guards. Bully asked her why she isn’t wearing her wedding ring & pointed out that he is wearing his. He told Brooke for now on to wear he wedding ring. Bully said Brooke was a crazed woman after Lockdown. Bully said she should have been happy that night because her husband became TNA World Champion. Bull said he forgives her. Bully asked Brooke if she knows what is in this envelope. Brooke said divorce papers. Bully said your my wife & that he loves her. Bully said he couldn’t have done it without her. Bully gave her the envelope to open. Brooke opened it & it was a front row ticket for next week. Bully said that he want her there to watch him beat Hardy again. Bully said he wants Brooke there by his side cheering him on & looking beautiful as she can. Bull said lately she has let herself go. Brooke tore up the ticket & slapped Bully across the face. Bully called her pathetic. Bully told her that he is in her head so bad its not funny & has been in ya since day one. Bully said to Brooke what are you going to do smack me again. Jeff Hardy came to the ring & attacked Bully. Hardy & Bully brawled as the show went off the air.

CM Punk & Living Colour announced on Twitter that Living Colour will be performing Punk’s Theme at WrestleMania 29.

Wrestlemania The Early Years

Wrestlemania, a fixture for The WWE for 29 years now, shaped the way major live sporting events are broadcast to the world. After being shown on closed-circuit television for the first “Mania”,  Pay-per-view began with the 2nd Wrestlemania  and the early success of this venture led the way for professional boxing, MMA and many other events that are not covered by the major sports networks.

Wrestlemania 1 was a bold move for Vince McMahon and the WWE. It helped usher in the Rock ‘n’ Wrestling gimmick that helped propel the company into the undisputed number 1  wrestling promotion in the world. WWE teamed up with MTV and brought in an entire new audience of viewers.

Held at the historic Madison Square Garden on March 31, 1985 – Wrestlemania 1 featured Hulk Hogan and actor Mr. T taking on Rowdy Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff with “Cowboy” Bob Orton, father of current WWE Superstar Randy Orton, getting involved in the match as well.

Wrestlemania 2 was held in three separate venues – in the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Rosemont Horizon, and the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena and as earlier mentioned helped usher in Pay-per-View as we now know it.

However, it was Wrestlemania III that many people still talk about today. The event was held on March 29, 1987 at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan and set a record attendance of 93,173, the largest recorded attendance for a live indoor sporting event in North America. That record held until 2010.

The featured match was Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant in a match the is probably most remembered for Hogan body slamming the 520 pound Giant – a video clip that is still regularly seen today.

These early days of Wrestlemania have morphed into the annual event that is the highlight of the year for most fans of professional wrestling.
