It’s no secret that TNA Impact wrestling star AJ Styles is a follower of the Christian faith. There are interviews and other examples of the TNA wrestling icon expressing his faith in mutable ways. From his choice for his iconic entrance music to what he wears to the ring.
There’s no doubt obstetricals being in the wrestling business and a Christian, most of the things you see at a wrestling show are not exactly “biblically approved” if you were to ask most believers. Nevertheless AJ Styles has been able to make everything work together for the good. While some storylines might tend to push the envelope just a little bit AJ Styles always seams to come out on top and is always doing the right thing. So when the Aces and Eights storyline started to revolve around getting the phenomenal one to join it’s ranks fans were left to wonder “would he do it”. After all for the last few months AJ’s character has been a mystery ever since he lost his chance to go after the championship for a whole year.
Last night as Impact Wrestling was nearing the end of the weekly broadcast viewers witnessed the unthinkable. The man who has always put his faith and morals above everything else was getting patched in as a member of the rebel motorcycle gang that has been tormenting TNA Wrestling on it’s quest to gain ultimate control of the company. Even more shocking the person who doesn’t drink alcoholic beverages was having a cold one with the boys right in the middle of the ring. But in true AJ Styles form in the end he turned on Aces and Eights attacking them in the middle of the ring and standing proud at the top of the entrance ramp as the broadcast went off the air in Tampa Florida.
You see behind the scenes AJ Styles has always put his relationship with Jesus Christ above everything else. So it came as no surprise when AJ ultimately didn’t join the gang. One sure sign that this indeed would be the outcome was something Bully Ray said to AJ. “You can give your heart to Jesus, but your soul belongs to the club”.
Christian’s don’t do anything that would jeopardize their connection with Jesus Christ. As believers we know that our whole being must be committed to Christ. Knowing that AJ Styles firmly believes this also we knew he wasn’t going to send out a mixed message even if it was scripted. AJ’s countless examples of being a light in the darkness for his faith while also being a founding figure in impact wrestling is self evident. Even last night while he was standing in the ring he was wearing a cross necklace and a belt buckle of what appeared to be three crosses on a hill. Getting back to something mentioned earlier, his theme music. Did you know that his entrance music was written and recorded by a popular hip-hop Christian music group? yes it’s true AJ tells the story that he went to Jeff Jarrett and asked if they could do his entrance music for him. Jarrett also being a Christian and friends with the music group gladly agreed. And despite attempts to update and change his popular entrance music on a few occasions it has for the most part remained the same.
It will be interesting to see where this goes next week. You can watch “Impact Wrestling” Thursday nights on SPIKE TV.
AJ Lee tweeted a photo taken with her in-ring “boyfriend” while visiting the World Heavyweight Champion while he continues to recover from a serious concussion which he obtained in a match with Jack Swagger.

“Mick never recovered from the loss of his beloved wife Barbara and lost the will to live, despite the loving care of the nurses at the celebrity home for retired actors Brishing House where he lived out his final days.
“Even the arrival of his old friend Lord Richard Attenborough recently failed to lift his spirits, refusing all food and drink until he quietly slipped into a coma three days ago.
“Mick was without doubt, through his own efforts, the greatest wrestling name that the UK has ever seen or will see again, and even 25 years after his retirement, he retained his aura of stardom until the end. He was 93.”
Tributes have been pouring in throughout today from wrestlers and fans on both sides of the Atlantic and from all generations.
WWE star William Regal tweeted: “Very sorry to hear of the passing of one of my childhood heroes, Mick McManus.
“I only got to see him wrestle live once. It was on my 9th birthday and I remember him giving me an autograph. Got to know him in the 1980s and he was always nice. A great man.”
Nick Aldis, better known as Magnus in TNA wrestling, said: “Woke up to the sad news of the passing of one of British Wrestling’s true legends: Rest in Peace Mick McManus.”
Nick also posted a picture of himself as an 18-year-old training at the Dropkixx Academy on a day when McManus paid a visit to inspire the students.
‘Superstar’ Mal Sanders, the first man to beat McManus in a televised match, wrote on Facebook: “I wrestled Mick a hundred times or more when I first came into the business and he looked after me every time.
“The wrestling game never has or never will see his like again. God bless Mick.”
TNA Wrestling: British Boot Camp star Marty Scurll said: “RIP Mick McManus, the greatest British wrestling villain in history. I was fortunate enough to meet Mick a few times. True gent. Sad day.”
