Marko Stunt Signs With All Elite Wrestling

Indie star Marko Stunt took to Twitter yesterday to reveal a big 23rd birthday present he received – a contract from All Elite Wrestling.

“It’s my 23rd birthday, and I can’t think of another way to celebrate, than by announcing something huge! I would like to announce that I have OFFICIALLY signed with @AEWrestling! Thank you to everyone who has supported me, and everyone at AEW! This is just the beginning,” Stunt wrote.

Marko made his AEW debut back at the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view in late May, participating in the Casino Battle Royale on the “Buy In” pre-show. He entered at #7 and was eliminated by Ace Romero, without picking up any eliminations. Stunt also worked the All In event in 2018, participating in the Over Budget Battle Royale on the pre-show.

WWE SmackDown Live To Have A More Cinematic-Like Feel When It Comes To Fox

You can expect WWE SmackDown to have a more cinematic-like feel to it when the show premieres on Fox on Friday, October 4, according to a new report by @Wrestlevotes.

The report notes that the blue brand show will seem cinematic-like, similar to some of the WWE 24 footage we’ve seen, due to new cameras WWE recently experimented with. WWE will reportedly film SmackDown with these new cameras when they move to Fox after recently testing out newer, much more expensive technology. WWE officials were said to be pleased with what the new cameras produced.

It was recently reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE had plans to test out new cameras for the Fox premiere. Fox officials are also looking to invite a lot of celebrities to SmackDown and give the show the feel of a major event, which is one of the reasons why the SmackDown – Fox premiere was booked for the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

As we’ve noted, there’s talk that the Fox premiere on October 4 will feature the 20th Anniversary celebration and there are rumors on WWE trying to get The Rock to appear. The Observer report also noted that the idea is to make WWE look as major league as possible, which would then make AEW look minor league from the start. AEW will premiere their TNT show two days before on Wednesday, October 2.

Trish Stratus Accepts Charlotte Flair’s SummerSlam Challenge

It’s official! Trish Stratus vs. Charlotte Flair at WWE SummerSlam.

Stratus was a guest on “The King’s Court” this week during SmackDown Live in Memphis and the interview with Jerry Lawler was interrupted by Flair.

Charlotte then bragged about being “The Queen of All Eras” and challenged Trish to a match.

When Stratus didn’t immediately respond, Flair angrily stated: “I expected more out of the 7-time Women’s Champion! But I know what it is … the WWE has evolved and we’re no longer models shaking their assets, we are women changing the industry. Trailblazers like me. I expected more fire out of you.”

Trish retorted by shouting out some former WWE women stars like Lita, Ivory and Beth Phoenix, then said “to be the woman, you have to beat the woman,” and accepted the challenge.

Entertainment Reporter Chris Van Vliet Signs With AEW

Entertainment reporter Chris Van Vliet announced today that he is joining All Elite Wrestling to work as a backstage interviewer for the AEW on TNT TV show, which premieres on Wednesday, October 2.

Van Vliet appeared as the “Control Center” segment host in the recent “Road to All Out” series on YouTube. He has been interviewing WWE Superstars for a few years now.

You can see Van Vliet’s full post below:

“I’m honored to announce that I am officially joining @allelitewrestling on October 2 for the first show on TNT!As a lifelong wrestling fan, this is a dream come true to mix my passion for broadcasting and pro wrestling as a backstage interviewer for AEW!

Growing up, I idolized the larger-than-life characters in the ring and I wanted nothing more than to be a professional wrestler.

When I was 20 years old, I enrolled in a wrestling school in Toronto but my wrestling dreams were put on hold as I chose to focus on graduating with an honors degree in Communication Studies and pursuing my other dream of being a TV host. During my senior year, I called every TV station in town and finally earned an internship that led to my first ever on-air job. Every day, I drove 60 miles each way for that job and worked part-time in the fish department of a pet store at the mall to make ends meet. That has since grown into a 15 year broadcasting career and a YouTube channel where I’m still blown away that I get to have conversations with some of the biggest wrestling stars on the planet.

I have loved working as an Entertainment Reporter for @decodrivetv on @wsvn over the last 5 years. My co-hosts @shireensandoval and @lynnmartinez123 are the best in the business—as are the producers, editors, photographers, administrators, studio crew and everyone else at Channel 7. You have all helped me grow so much as both a broadcaster and as a human since I moved to Florida from Ohio in 2014. I am so grateful to have been able to share incredible stories on TV and to also travel the world and report from some of the biggest red carpet events.

If you’re reading this, I’ve got two words for you: THANK YOU! I couldn’t have done ANY of this with you and your support.

And here’s the best part — we are just getting started!!”

Jerry Lawler Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Over The 2018 Death Of His Son Brian Christopher

It’s been one year since former WWE star Brian Christopher passed away and now his father Jerry Lawler has taken legal action against the police department where his son was in custody.

According to WMC5 in Memphis, Lawler filed a lawsuit on Friday against the Hardeman County Sheriff in which he’s seeking $3 million in damages.

As we previously reported, Brian Lawler had been arrested prior to his passing and was found hanging in his cell. The official cause of death was ruled a suicide, but Jerry Lawler has continued to raise questions about his son’s death.

In new documents, Lawler explains that he didn’t bail his son out of jail at the time because he was assured by the Sheriff that they’d help with his addiction and personal issues. Instead, however, Jerry claims Brian was placed into solitary confinement after being assaulted by another inmate.

Lawler alleges his son wasn’t assessed for any potential suicide risks afterward — despite suffering from depression, a history of suicide attempts and drug addiction — and instead let him enter a cell with bolts protruding from the walls while wearing tennis shoes that had laces.

The WWE Hall of Famer also believes the supervising officers at the time were negligent in how they dealt with the incident. Lawler claims one officer saw Brian Christopher with a towel over his head and didn’t take action. Instead, he took out the trash first and only took action after finding Brian in the same position when he returned. At that point, he and another officer entered the cell and used children’s scissors to cut the laces.

In addition to the money, “The King” also wants the Hardeman County Sheriff to make changes in order to protect inmates from harm in the future.

Brian was being held in jail after an arrest on charges of DUI, evading arrest, and driving while on a revoked license. Jerry said on Monday that his family wants policies and training in place at the jail, which would protect and provide health cae to those who are in serious medical and mental distress, and those who are an obvious suicide risk.

“It’s just something you have to cope with on a daily basis,” Jerry said. “It never goes away, you think about it every single day. And what makes it worse, like Jeff (Rosenblum) said, is when you feel like it just didn’t have to happen.”

Jerry took to Twitter to remember his son on the one year anniversary of passing, as seen below.

“Today was a very tough day. It’s been exactly one year since my son Brian Christopher died. I want to thank everyone who thought about Brian today. We’ll never forget you, Brian,” Jerry wrote.
