NWA Reveals 2019 Crockett Cup Bracket

NWA Crockett Cup will take place on April 27 at the Cabarrus Arena in Concord, North Carolina. In NWA’s latest video the full bracket has been announced for the tournament with the following first-round matches.

* The Briscoes vs. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express
* Villain Enterprises (PCO & Brody King) vs. Satoshi Kojima and Yugi Nagata
* Flip Gordon and Bandido vs. Guerrero Maya Jr. and Stuka Jr.
* The War Kings (Crimson and Jax Dane) vs. Winner of the Wild Card Tag Team Battle Royal

Below is what the rest of the card looks like.

* Nick Aldis (c) vs. Marty Scurll (NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship)
* Willie Mack (c) vs. Colt Cabana (NWA National Championship)

* Wild Card Tag Team Battle Royal (Winner is the 8th entrant into the Crockett Cup)

The event will stream live on FITE for $19.99, ROH HonorClub, and traditional PPV.

WWE Giving EC3 A Manager?

It looks like Drake Maverick may be adding to his stable on WWE’s main roster.

Maverick, who is still the WWE 205 Live General Manager, was the manager for EC3’s dark match against Harper before tonight’s post-WrestleMania 35 edition of WWE SmackDown from Brooklyn. The two had worked together in TNA both as allies and rivals.

That dark match saw Harper get the win over EC3 via pinfall. It was noted that both Superstars were over with the crowd.

Maverick has been away from RAW since The Authors of Pain were taken off TV due to the leg injury that Akam suffered back in January. It was reported that he would be out of action for a few months. Rezar has worked some WWE Main Event singles matches since then.

There’s no word yet on if WWE plans on using Maverick with EC3 on WWE TV.

Sasha Banks Pulls Out Of TV Appearance Due To Personal Reasons, Posts Cryptic Message

Sasha Banks was scheduled to appear on The Wendy Williams Show today, however her appearance was cancelled. Banks took to Twitter to explain that her appearance was nixed due to “personal reasons” while using #IfYouOnlyKnew.

“Due to personal reasons, I had to pull out of my appearance today on @WendyWilliams,” Banks wrote. “Sorry to everyone who was looking forward to it. Hopefully the opportunity will be there again later. #IfYouOnlyKnew”

Banks and Bayley, the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, lost their titles to the IIConics at WrestleMania 35 this past Sunday. It was announced on Monday that Alexa Bliss would be wrestling her first match since January on RAW later that evening against either Banks or Bayley. Bliss ended up facing and defeating Bayley, while Banks never appeared on the show. During the show, Banks posted this cryptic message on Twitter:

AEW Signs New Talent To Women’s Division, Releases “Fyter Fest” Trailer

Japanese wrestler, Hikaru Shida, has been added to the AEW women’s division. Debuting back in 2008, Shida has worked for multiple promotions included Oz Academy, Ice Ribbon, and Pro Wrestling Wave.

Here is what the current AEW women’s division looks like: Aja Kong, Allie, Bea Priestley, Brandi Rhodes, Britt Baker, Hiraku Shida, Kylie Rae, Nyla Rose, Penelope Ford, Sadie Gibbs, and Yuka Sakazaki.

Below is the trailer for the upcoming AEW / CEO Fighting Game Championship event at the Dayton Beach Ocean Center on June 29. The show is being called “Fyter Fest” and is billed as “The most luxurious gaming and wrestling festival of all-time.” Tickets for the upcoming event will go on sale in early May.

Backstage News On WWE Wanting To Do A Big WrestleMania 35 Rematch

Multiple sources have confirmed to Sports Illustrated that the finish of the “Winner Takes All” WrestleMania 35 main event with Charlotte Flair, Ronda Rousey and SmackDown & RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch went off as planned.

As previously reported, the match was scheduled to end with Lynch pinning Rousey. According to SI, the finish with Lynch pinning Rousey while Rousey got her shoulder up was designed to protect Rousey and keep her character strong. The controversial finish allows Rousey to say Lynch did not legitimately defeat her.

SI also reported that WWE officials reportedly have Rousey tentatively planned to face Lynch in a singles rematch at WrestleMania 36 on April 5, 2020 from Tampa. Dave Meltzer added on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE officials do want to do the rematch, but there’s no date for her return yet and there’s no date or plans confirmed for the rematch.

Rousey is expected to step away from WWE for now. She has stated in media interviews in the past that she wants to have children with husband Travis Browne, which throws out any timetable for a return if they plan to do so during her break. She will also need to recover from the broken hand that she suffered during the match while throwing punches.

AJ Styles Injured At WWE WrestleMania 35

AJ Styles reportedly suffered an injury during his win over Randy Orton at WrestleMania 35 Sunday night.

There’s no word yet on details of the injury but PWInsider reports that AJ was pulled from yesterday’s Axxess VIP meet & greet appearance due to the injury.

Fans who had tickets to meet AJ today were told that he was removed from the signing due to an injury. They were offered full refunds and the promise of a Styles 8×10 photo that would be mailed to them, or the chance to meet new WWE Champion Kofi Kingston today.

Styles is scheduled to miss tomorrow’s WWE SmackDown from Brooklyn, according to Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline.com. A fan spotted Styles at the airport and said he was moving slowly.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Styles has a hip injury. The severity of the injury is not known.
