Vanessa’s thoughts on NXT Unstopabble

Every time I hear the words NXT I know I’m gong to be in for a treat. It doesn’t matter if it’s the weekly one hour show or one of their two hour specials.

Yesterday was no different. May 20th 2015 was the day NXT Unstoppable took place and from the moment the event was announced I was extremely excited because I knew NXT would deliver.

The show kicked off with an exciting number 1 contenders match for the NXT title featuring the demon Finn Balor vs the king of cuteville Tyler Breeze. This match was originally suppose to be a triple threat but earlier in the day Hedio Itami was attacked by an unknown asilum taking him out of the match up.

Both Breeze and Balor up’d the antey with their entrances. Breeze had an entrance that looked like a fashion show featuring developmental divas Dasha, Gionna, Nhooph, and newest couch for training the girls Sarita formerly of TNA. Balor of corse came out as a demon but his face paint was so much more intense. He even had the eye of Balor painted on his back. If appeared as if blood was dripping from his legs and he even wore a custome that made it look like he had bat wings and spikes on his back. It was epic.

If the entrances were any indication of how the match was going to go, you knew it would be epic and boy oh boy that’s exactly what it was. It was a grueling back and forth match up that could’ve went either way. The crowd was devided and rightfully so. In the end Balor came out on top making him the newest contender for the NXT title.

The 2nd match was (what now is my favorite tag team) of Bayley and Charlotte vs Emma and Dana Brooke. This match also had the crowd devided and it had some solid wrestling. The only complaint (if you even want to call it that) I had about this match would’ve been that I wish Dana would’ve had more in ring time. In the ends the baby faces Bayley and Charlotte got the win; after Charlotte delivered natrual selection to Emma.

Up next was Baron Corbin vs Rhyno in an all out slug fest. There was no technical wrestling just two big guys hell bent on proving they were the force to be reckon with. Eventually Corbin hit the end of days defeating the veteran Ryno.

Now it was time for gold to be up for grabs as Blake and Murphy defended their tag titles against fan favorites Collin Cassady and Enzo Amore. The best part of this match for me was the closing moments. As Enzo was closing in on a victory out comes Alexa Bliss to attack Carmella causing the distraction and costing Enzo and Big Cas the titles. That’s right ladies and gents Bliss is now heel and I’m so excited to see how this will change her character. It should also be noted that apparently Bliss and Blake are a real life couple so its likely that Bliss asked for the pairing.

Up next is what I feel was match of the night as Sasha Banks defended her title against Becky Lynch. Now I’ll be honest up until yesterday I was unable to connect with Lynch. Don’t get me wrong I always recognized her as an incredible wrestler but nothing really stood out to me but then it all changed. Becky made her way to the ring with a new look. Her hair dyed a bright orange. She was wearing a trench coat and these awesome goggle like glasses.(hear me out I know it’s not all about looks but they do help)

Even Sasha up’d her entrance. It had the UFC feel to it as she started from the back stage area making her way to the ring. Just like Balor and Breeze earlier on if the entrances where any hint to what was to come it was going to be awesome, and that it was. In my humble opinion it was better then any other women’s match showcased on an NXT special. Both women redefined what most people think about women’s wrestling and they pretty much threw the term diva out the window. If you watch ONE match from Unstopabble make it this one. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed. Both ladies had amazing spots and put their bodies on the line for our entertainment. Although Sasha Banks came out on top successfully defending her title there was no loser in that match. Both. Sasha and Becky where winners last night and they should be proud.

The main event was the anticipated rematch between Kevin Owens and Sami Zyne for the NXT world title. Much like last time the match was a one sided beat down by Owens. Mid match Owens delivered a pop up Powerbomb to Zyne sending him head and back first into the ring apron. Officials quickly rushed to a motionless Zyne, but Owens wouldn’t let up. He kept attacking Zyne. At one point even GM William Regal tried to intervene but Owens quickly disposed of him. Owens dragged Zyne back into the ring where he attempted to beat him down with a chair, but to no avail  because Owens’  attack was interrupted by none other then SAMOE JOE!!!!! (Yes you read that right it’s not a typo) Joe and Owens faced off as the crowd chanted “this is awesome” and “holy sh**” but the champ wanted nothing to do with Joe. He left the ring and even came back for a moment only to tease the crowd. Unstoppable closed with Joe standing tall and the crowd going nuts.

All and all NXT Unstopabble Exceeded all expectations and delivered yet again. After seeing what happened last night the only thing I can say is Vince and his team of writers need to take notes from HHH and company. THAT IS HOW YOU PUT ON A WRESTLING SHOW!!!
