Josh Barnett successfully defended his Metamoris Heavyweight title this past Saturday against Ryron Gracie at Metamoris 6 by submitting him via toehold.
Barnett who does English commentary for “New Japan Pro Wrestling which airs every Friday on AXS TV, has been pretty busy as of late.
With The Warmaster conquring the world like it’s nobody’s business many wondered when we would see him in the cage again. After all the last time we saw him compete in the UFC was in December of 2013 at UFC168. Now fans of The baby face asscian can rejoice because they won’t have to wait much longer to see the catch wrestler back in the octagon again.
It was announced Wednesday evening by Vice President and general manager of UFC Asia Ken Berger during media day for Faber vs Edgar that Josh Barnett will be squaring off against Roy Nelson live from Japan in the headlining bout of UFC Fight Night 78 on September 27th
In addition to the fight announcement it was also announced that both Barnett and Nelson will be coaches on a Japan reality tv show called Road to the UFC. The show will feature 8 prospects with little to no experience gunning to achieve the ultimate dream of fighting in the UFC.
Filming for the series is set to begin later this month and is expected to take place both in Las Vegas and Japan. Unlike “The Ultimate Fighter,” the athletes are not expected to live together during the duration of filming.
Due to time differences UFC Fight Night 78 will air in North American September 26th. Broadcast plans have yet to be announced
Josh Barnett has a professional fight record of(33-7) with a record of (5-2) in the UFC. Opposite of Barnett, Nelson has a professional fight record of (20-11) with a record of (7-7) in the UFC so there is no doubt this bout is going to be one you don’t want to miss.
Are you like myself; super excited for this fight? Let us know in the comments.
