Welcome, Grumpy Cat

The guest host of this week’s RAW will be none other than Internet sensation Grumpy Cat. While some of the sentiment on the Internet is negative, there are also things to be excited about. On one side of the coin, people may view any celebrity guest host as someone on the show solely for promotion who’s taking away from real wrestling fans.

However, celebs like Hugh Jackman and Maria Menudos have busted that stereotype in the past, getting physically involved in  matches. However, where’s the argument for this when it comes to an animal? With

repetitive matches and emphasis on other stars being used on Main Event to help promote the WWE Network, how much harm can a segment of innocent fun be with Grumpy Cat be? Internet meme fans will love it and hear about it through word of mouth and once again the WWE succeeds in inviting new fans to the company.

Sure, wrestling is about the athleticism and skill, but it’s also entertainment and a  reminder to enjoy those times when you can take life lightly.

  1. it actually has to do with the fact that NBC Universal which owns Lifetime network ( which is airing the Grumpy Cat movie) also owns the USA Network and therefore WWE has a contract with NBC Universal.
