PWInsider.com is reporting Kurt Angle is expected to appear on the post-WrestleMania 33 RAW on April 3rd in Orlando, Florida. Angle will be inducted earlier that weekend into the WWE Hall of Fame.
While it is not known what Angle’s role will be, there is an obvious spot opening up for the General Manager of RAW with Mick Foley undergoing hip surgery soon.
Angle hasn’t appeared live on WWE television in over a decade. His last match for WWE was at an ECW taping on August 8, 2006, where he wrestled Sabu to a no contest.
The Wyatt Family has been splintered on the road to WrestleMania 33 … and now, to add further intrigue, Erick Rowan‘s been cleared to return.
As we previously reported, Rowan went under the knife to repair a torn rotator cuff back in October and it was expected that he’d be out of action until March.
Looks like that timeline was right on target, because Pro Wrestling Sheet was told he’s been given the green light.
Erick’s medical news couldn’t come at a better time. Bray Wyatt just recently won the WWE Championship and is currently feuding with Rowan’s former tag partner Luke Harper.
Last night on WWE SmackDown Live, Randy Orton burned the infamous Wyatt Family Compound to the ground.
Orton appeared on the big screen via satellite from the creepy shack and declared, “This is your world, Bray. But it’s not mine!”
The Viper went on to explain that he only joined the Wyatt’s to eventually screw them over.
Randy then began to pour gasoline all over the compound as Bray screamed in anger, watching helplessly in the ring, and eventually Orton torched that sucker to the ground.
Chris Jericho is scheduled for TV and WWE live events throughout the month of April after WrestleMania 33, including the WWE Payback pay-per-view on Sunday, April 30th. He is scheduled to tour with Fozzy in May and will perform at the Download festival in the U.K. on June 11th, but is expected to return to WWE after that.
Big Show may have beat The Shining Stars tonight, but he wasn’t as lucky after Raw ended … because Brock Lesnar made an appearance and hit him with an F-5.
Lesnar surprised the crowd in Green Bay, Wisconsin at the Resch Center with Paul Heyman in tow, and Show answered their challenge shortly after.
The two then brawled for a short period of time and Brock eventually hit the F-5.
Injured WWE Superstar Seth Rollins says he’ll be at WrestleMania 33 … but whether he’ll wrestle in a match still seems to be up in the air.
Rollins was interviewed by Corey Graves on Raw and said he didn’t think he’d be cleared in time for WM33. Triple H interrupted shortly after add to insult to injury.
The segment ended with Seth telling Hunter, “A month ago, I told your wife I had nothing left to lose. Well that couldn’t be any truer than it is right now. I will be at WrestleMania! And if it’s the last thing I ever do, then I swear to you, it will be the last thing you ever do.”
Despite the guarantee he’d be there, the interview appeared to leave things open ended just in case. As wepreviously reported, Rollins has been out of action since January 30th.
Beth Phoenix to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017Beth Phoenix, one of the most dominant female competitors in sports-entertainment, will take her rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame when she is inducted as part of the Class of 2017 during WrestleMania 33 Week. The news was first reported by USA Today.
Phoenix first arrived in WWE in 2006, brutalizing Mickie James and aligning herself with fellow WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. Unfortunately, a jaw injury forced Phoenix to the sidelines just weeks after her debut. She returned to Monday Night Raw more than a year later, ready to dominate the competition. Possessing great beauty and power, Phoenix dubbed herself “The Glamazon” and went right to work.
Within months of her return to WWE, Phoenix captured the Women’s Championship and dominated the division for months, muscling around the competition with ease before planting opponents face-first into the canvas with her patented Glam Slam. She also was part of an unlikely, yet infamous power couple with Santino Marella. The duo, dubbed “Glamarella,” found great success, often in spite of the wacky antics of The Milan Miracle. In fact, it was Phoenix who won herself a second Women’s Championship and Marella the Intercontinental Title in a Winner Take All Tag Team Match at SummerSlam 2008.
Phoenix went on to capture the Women’s Championship once more, as well as the Divas Championship before stepping away from the ring in 2012. On top of her championship glory, The Glamazon was a pioneer, truly showing what women could do inside the squared circle. Phoenix was the second woman ever to enter the Royal Rumble Match, eliminating the towering Great Khali in the 2010 edition of the 30-Superstar, over-the-top-rope melee. She wasn’t afraid to throw down in a hardcore match and even took part in the first ever Tables Match to feature women at WWE TLC 2010.
And now, Beth Phoenix is blazing a trail toward sports-entertainment immortality, as she enters the WWE Hall of Fame.
WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley announced on Facebook that he will be inducted into the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame this coming May, along with WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels and others. He wrote the following:
PROUD TO BE INDUCTED
I am very happy to announce that I will be attending the 2017 #ProWrestlingHallOfFame Induction Ceremony on May 20, 2017 in #WitchitaFalls Texas. I am proud to be among a great group of inductees like Sputnik Monroe, Luther Lindsay, Dirty Dick Raines, Yvon Robert, Susan Green and Shawn Michaels. I visited the #PWHF many times when it was located in #Amsterdam NY and I’m really looking forward to visiting the hall in its beautiful new home in Texas. I hope some of my fans in Texas (or anywhere around the country or world) will think about stopping by for the festivities, including a great evening of independent wrestling the night before the induction.
