Changes Made To WWE Announce Teams Following Draft

Source: WWE.com

It’s a New Era for the entire landscape of WWE, which continues to change and evolve with the WWE Brand Extension Draft. That includes the announce teams for WWE programming. The teams for Raw, SmackDown, “WWE Superstars” and WWE Main Event are all experiencing a major shakeup, including one major voice changing shows and several rising commentators being inserted into the lineup.

The new announce teams for WWE’s New Era will feature Michael Cole, Corey Graves and Byron Saxton Monday nights on Raw, while Mauro Ranallo, JBL and David Otunga handle the commentary for SmackDown Live every Tuesday night.

Also receiving a makeover will be the announce teams for WWE Superstars and WWE Main Event. Both shows will be led by Tom Phillips, and he will be joined each and every week by Graves on WWE Superstars and Otunga on WWE Main Event.

It’s interesting to note that Jerry Lawler is not included on either commentary team. Lawler did not provide any comments on his Twitter as of this posting.

Rusev Possibly Injured

Rusev appeared to suffer some type of arm injury at last night’s WWE Main Event match against Neville at the TV tapings in Phoenix, Arizona.

According to PWInsider, word is backstage that Rusev is believed to have suffered a torn bicep. There is no confirmation as of yet of the severity of the injury, but it was bad enough to stop the match.

In regards to Rusev’s post-match tantrum, that may have been done to make up some of the TV time they lost when the match had to be cut short.

Weather Causing Major Problems For RAW & SmackDown

The expected snowstorm in the Northeast is causing major problems for this RAW & this weeks SmackDown tapings.

PWInsider reports that tonight’s RAW taping from Hartford, Connecticut will not be taking place. WWE crews are currently at the XL Center in Hartford packing up their production trucks. A reader who works across the street was told the taping is cancelled. PWInsider reports that there will be a RAW broadcast tonight but are not sure what it will consist of.

PWInsider reports that sources at the TD Gardens in Boston are indicating that tomorrow night’s WWE Main Event and SmackDown tapings will be canceled due to the weather in the Northeast. WWE officials are working on how to handle SmackDown. Weather permitting, it’s possible that they tape on Thursday and air SmackDown live.

WWE Network Not Airing Main Event Next Week

WWE Network will not be airing Main Event next Tuesday night and Santino Marella’s Royal Rumble Lottery Special will air instead.

As to why WWE Network will not be airing Main Event – is because of WWE’s existing deal with the Sky network. WWE Network will be launching in the UK and Ireland on Monday. WWE Network are unable to broadcast Main Event into those countries due to the Sky deal. WWE Network is unable to block certain content based on location.

Update: WWE Network launched early in the UK and Ireland and is available now.

PWInsider reports that there’s no estimate yet on when Main Event will return to the WWE Network.

Update: The current time frame for Main Event’s return to the WWE Network is late summer or early fall as geoblocking could be put into place by then so Main Event could be blocked in the UK.

WWE will continue to tape Main Event each week due to international commitments. It will also still be available on Hulu in the United States.
