Cageside Seats has a post that suggest that the expected Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey match at WrestleMania 35 needs to headline the show.

You can check out the article below:

The last thing I’d do is suggest Becky Lynch’s injury and removal from her Survivor Seriesshowdown with Ronda Rousey is a good thing.

That said, there may be some good to come out of it.

With rumors already suggesting a clash between the women could headline — or at least co-headline — WrestleMania 35, the match could only grow in size by keeping the two away from each other, but on each other’s minds.

The reality is, Rousey will continue getting trounced in the Twitter and promo wars because she simply isn’t playing the same game as Lynch, who is on one of the greatest character runs in modern WWE history. But fans want the match and they want it even more now that they can’t have it.

If WWE can have both women go about their business in their respective brands and strategically work moments for them to come close to a clash, it’s only going to build heat.

It also allows their title reigns to grow in length and make the prospect of a champion vs. champion match on the biggest stage of them all all that much more intriguing.

Here’s hoping WWE uses pay-per-view events to put the women in the same place to continue building to the future, but limits any physical interactions until they step on that grand stage.

Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey should main event WrestleMania.

If that happens as a first-time-ever match, it’s a bit of sunshine peeking from the dark cloud of Becky’s injury.

As noted, SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey is currently the plan for WrestleMania 35, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer reported in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the match is currently planned to headline the show. If the plan doesn’t change, it will be the first time a women’s match has ever headlined WrestleMania.

It looks like the match between SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey may happen at WrestleMania 35.

As we’ve noted, Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view will now feature Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair in a non-title match due to Becky suffering injuries at the hands of Nia Jax during the invasion angle on Monday’s RAW. Rousey vs. Flair had been rumored for WrestleMania 35, but WWE was forced to rush the match due to Becky’s injuries.

The Lynch vs. Rousey match for WrestleMania was discussed on Tuesday when WWE officials changed plans for Survivor Series, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. That match will likely be one of the top women’s matches at WrestleMania 35 on April 7 at MetLife Stadium.

The Rock Wants To Wrestle At WrestleMania 35

The Rock’s WrestleMania 29 encounter against John Cena was Dwayne Johnson’s last WWE match except for an extremely brief contest with Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32. The People’s Champ reportedly wants to wrestle once again at next year’s WrestleMania and WWE might have a big opponent for him.

Dave Meltzer spoke about The Rock’s desire to perform at WrestleMania 35 during Wrestling Observer Radio. WWE wanted The Rock to tag with Ronda Rousey against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at this year’s show in New Orleans, but they substituted Kurt Angle in Johnson’s place. If The Rock can find time in his busy schedule, then WrestleMania 35 could be a possibility.

“[The Rock] wants to wrestle at WrestleMania,” Meltzer said. “You know [WWE] wanted him last year. He was originally in the Kurt Angle position, he had filming stuff.

“If there’s a movie project or something [The Rock] has to film at that time or a week later or something it makes it difficult because of the injury risk. If he doesn’t have anything much going on I would think that he would. My impression is that he wants to wrestle, you know The Rock loves wrestling.”

The Rock suffered a pectoral injury during his WrestleMania 29 contest which caused shooting for Hercules to be delayed costing the Paramount and MGM film a considerable amount of money. Movie studios have since been leery of allowing The Rock to wrestle due to the amount of money they have invested in him.

The Rock’s name is known on a global scale and having him back in WWE could help the company in foreign markets where his movies are extremely popular. Johnson’s age could also play a factor on whether he chooses next year to wrestle once again, but at any age, he will still be The Rock.

“If there’s no movie project on the table that he wants to do and he wants to do WrestleMania I’m sure Vince isn’t gonna go, ‘hey we don’t need you, we don’t want you,” Meltzer said. “Especially [WWE] is trying to break into China because The Rock’s movies are doing just giant business in China. Even if they weren’t [doing well in China] he’s The Rock and he’s one of the biggest movie stars in the world, some say he’s the biggest, I don’t know if he’s the biggest, but he’s up there.

“Time will tell, it’s up to offers and schedules, you know? It’s not like WrestleMania is going to be the number one thing but I think at 46 [years old], he’ll almost be 47 next year, I think in [The Rock’s] mind he’s probably going, ‘if I’m gonna do another match next year might be a good time.’ Because do you really want to do it at 48, 49? Maybe, but I know he doesn’t want to go in there when he doesn’t have his speed anymore and when he’s not as good as he once was. I don’t see him wanting to be that guy… maybe he would.

“Because let’s face it he can get through anything just based on the fact that he’s technically sound and he has incredible charisma and he’s The Rock. It’s not like he has to go in there and do a bunch of really quick armdrags and things like that. He can just talk his way through a match or just basic his way through a match. But I don’t see him as a guy who wants to go in there when he’s diminished.”

Meltzer said The Rock wouldn’t come back to WWE for a bad angle either as he revealed that someone told him a match against Roman Reigns might be a possibility.

“Someone suggested to me the idea of [The Rock] and Roman Reigns in a match. At first, I thought, ‘eh it doesn’t really appeal to me,'” Meltzer said the more he thought about it, Rock vs Reigns makes sense. They have a built-in storyline due to their family heritage, and The Rock would have no problem giving his cousin the win. It would also be a huge moment in Reigns’ career as WWE keeps pushing him as the next face of the company.

“I feel like that could be something that could appeal to [The Rock],” Meltzer continued. “Again, for Roman Reigns, if they’re trying to get Roman Reigns over something big, I mean The Rock will do the job for him that’s not even a question. In [WWE’s] mind if they want to get Roman over as a big Superstar, you know that’s a match that makes sense from everyone’s perspective.”

WrestleMania 35 will take place on April 7th, 2019 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

WWE announced WrestleMania 35 will return to the New York-New Jersey area at MetLife Stadium on April 7, 2019.

WWE issued the following:

A high-profile press conference was held to make the official announcement that MetLife Stadium will play host to WrestleMania 35 on Sunday, April 7, 2019, with additional events held throughout the New York-New Jersey region during WrestleMania Week.

“On behalf of everyone at WWE, we thank Governor Murphy and all of our partners for bringing WrestleMania back home,” WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon said of the incredible partnership. “It is the one place that matches the energy, excitement and spectacle of WrestleMania.”

“What does WrestleMania mean to me?” said an emotion-filled John Cena, as he asked his fiancé Nikki Bella to join him at the podium.  “Everything.” The 16-time World Champion beautifully expressed the many ways The Showcase of the Immortals has been his life throughout the years and how he would be a part of the event in 2019 in some capacity.

“It was destiny that brought me here [to WWE],” said The Baddest Women on the Planet Ronda Rousey, who exchanged an intense stare with  one-half of her WrestleMania 34 tag team opposition Triple H as she made her way to the podium. Rousey expressed her desire to use WrestleMania 35 as her way to honor the late WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and the great female Superstars of the Women’s Evolution.

Some of the other distinguished speakers in attendance included WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon, who described the rich past of the Showcase of the Immortals, WWE EVP, Talent, Live Events, Creative  Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who talked about WWE today including the Women’s Evolution and the rise of Ronda Rousey, The New Day as well as dignataries like New Jersey Lt Governor of New Jersey Shelia Oliver, WWE EVP Special Events and the host for the event John Saboor and the CEO of Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment Brett Yormark.

Other Superstars in attendance included Braun Strowman, Titus O’Neil, Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax and Apollo.

Other dignitaries included Vincent Prieto, President and CEO of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, Rob VanDeVeen, President/CEO of MetLife Stadium, John Mara, Giants owner and PresidentNeil Glat, New York Jets President, Kirkos, President and CEO of the Meadowlands Regional Chamber and Fred Dixon, President and CEO of NYC and Company.

In the end, The New Day would return to the stage to close the amazing event out right, serving pankcakes to the crowd. A fitting way to ring in the return of The Greatest Stage of Them All to the New York-New Jersey Area.

WrestleMania 35 is more than just a one-day event; it’s a week-long celebration that will stretch throughout the New York-New Jersey region. In addition to WrestleMania, other activities will include WrestleMania Axxess — WWE’s four-day interactive fan festival — as well as four nights of events at Barclays Center: The 2019 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, NXT TakeOver, Monday Night Raw and SmackDown LIVE. WWE will also host more than a dozen community outreach events, including hospital visits and Be a STAR bullying prevention rallies, designed to give back to the local region.

The last time The Show of Shows came to MetLife was WrestleMania 29, an event held in April 2013 that grossed an excess of $72 million and attracted a sold-out crowd of 80,676 fans from all 50 states and 34 countries. The incredible event featured WWE Champion The Rock going head-to-head against John Cena, Triple H battling Brock Lesnar in a No Holds Barred Match, The Undertaker taking on CM Punk, and WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No clashing with Dolph Ziggler & Big E.

Over the past 11 years, WrestleMania has generated more than $1 billion in cumulative economic impact for the cities that have hosted the event. This year, WrestleMania 34 takes place Sunday, April 8, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans and will be streamed live around the world on WWE Network.

As first reported on nypost.com, the New York-New Jersey area will once again play host to The Showcase of the Immortals when WrestleMania 35 descends on MetLife Stadium on April 7, 2019.
