Triple H — WWE Women’s Tournament Will ‘Probably’ Happen This Summer

The WWE Women’s Tournament will more than likely go down this summer … this according to Triple H — who says he wants to uncover hidden talent like they did with the Cruiserweight Classic.

The WWE exec was interviewed by Fox Sports’ Wrestling Compadres podcast and told them the setback for a tournament featuring women has mainly been due to scheduling.

However, he finally had good news to report about when it will happen. “The women we’re gonna do probably this summer.” Adding “That’s the plan anyways.”

Popular female wrestlers Kimber Lee, Heidi Lovelace and Andrea were recently signed to WWE. Plus, there’s a whole crop of new performers at the Performance Center.

Even with all of that talent, Triple H says he wants to find more. Explaining the plan is “much like cruisers” … “to go scour the globe and maybe find the girls that are out there doing this that no one’s heard of. That no has seen. That are like these diamonds, waiting.”

As seen on last night’s RAW, Triple H made a surprise return and helped Kevin Owens win the WWE Universal Title after attacking Roman Reigns and turning on Triple H. Triple H then had a staredown with Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon before walking off.

It’s possible that this is leading to Triple H vs. Rollins at WrestleMania 33, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. Rollins vs. Triple H was one of their original plans last year before Rollins got hurt and went down with an injury.

Regarding last night’s Fatal 4 Way with Rollins, Reigns, Owens and Big Cass, the Elimination stipulation was decided on some time in the past few days.

Triple H made his return to RAW and got involved in the WWE Universal Championship Elimination Match to crown a new champion. Seth Rollins vs Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns vs Big Cass. Triple H was the decisive factor of the outcome.

The match saw Big Cass get eliminated first, by Owens. Triple H made a surprise return and attacked Reigns outside of the ring, hitting him with a Pedigree. Triple H rolled Reigns in the ring and sent Rollins in to make the cover to eliminate Reigns. This led to Triple H turning on Rollins. Triple H gave a nod to Owens and hit Rollins with a Pedigree and allowing Owens to get the title. Triple H then celebrated with Owens before stopping at ringside to stare at Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon. He then walked off , Stephanie looked shocked by what her husband Triple H just did. Owens was left to celebrate in the ring, fans chanted you deserve it as RAW went off the air.

Triple H’s media call to promote WWE NXT Takeover: The End:

Triple H joined the call and thanked everyone for joining and noted that there will probably be some questions about the Cruiserweight Classic. Triple H ran down the card for Wednesday’s Takeover event. Triple H said that Nakamura will be a key player in the company. He added that he’s excited for the debut of Andrade Almas and that he will be “big player.”

Triple H said “The End” title for the event has a lot of meanings, which we’ll see tomorrow. He said that you can expect it to be the end of the Finn Balor – Samoe Joe series.

NXT will be taping TV on Thursday, and he will be heading to the UK with the NXT crew for the UK tour after the tapings.

The Cruiserweight Classic starts up at the end of the month. Triple H thinks it will be the premier cruiserweight tournament, and he thinks it will be an unbelievable ten weeks. He says that it will be something unlike you’ve seen from WWE or NXT.

He thinks the NXT roster will look a lot different after the brand split, but he doesn’t know for sure. He thinks that one of the strengths of NXT is that their talent rises to the occasion whenever talent leaves for the main roster.

He doesn’t think the talent is any more aggressive than they were before, and they’re always looking for the best talent around the world. He’s always been aggressive in acquiring great talent.

About the brand split, Triple H noted that they’ve always had two tours and he’s not sure how much everything will change.

He was asked about how much they focus on the UK. Triple H said there is a ton of talent in the UK, but they don’t focus on any one area for talent, they look everywhere.

On Bobby Roode and Eric Young, Triple H is working on contracts for both men and said to stay tuned. He said they’re both talented, and he looks forward to working with both of them.

When asked about NXT touring in Canada, he said that they’re looking at everywhere. He said that NXT will be doing 180-190 events this year alone, and with RAW and SmackDown, you’re at around 500 events a year. With all the events, there’s a lot of factors that go into where they tour.

When asked for an update on Hideo Itami, Triple H said that he can’t go too much into his medical information, but everyone heals differently, and Itami had some issues with mobility and scar tissue, and wants him to take his time and return at 100%. Nothing has changed regarding his thoughts on Hideo as a performer, and he looks forward to him returning.

Triple H was asked about doing a women’s tournament, similar to the Cruiserweight Classic. Triple H said he had been throwing out ideas about it, and said that he would like to do it if the timing is right. He said it’s on the table, but there are a lot of things on the table. He said that it’s just an idea that spread quickly on the internet, and when they know what they’ll want to do, they’ll put out a statement or contact talents.

He said that the process for the Cruiserweight series has been very exciting, and he’s enjoyed working with outside promotions to secure talent for the series.

Triple H thanked everyone for calling in. He mentioned the passing of Muhammad Ali, and called him a personal hero of his. He said that Ali’s personality and charisma, which admittedly was influenced by pro wrestling, was amazing and and he was able to pass it on to others. Triple H said Ali was integral to what they do, and even though Ali wasn’t a part of WWE on a day-to-day basis, that his impact isn’t forgotten in the sports entertainment world.

WWE Announces Dean Ambrose VS Triple H Title Match, New Name For Live WWE Network Special

Source: WWE via WrestlingINC

The March 12th “March to WrestleMania: Live from Toronto” WWE Network special has been renamed to WWE Roadblock. WWE has confirmed Dean Ambrose vs. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H for the event. They announced the following:

The Road to WrestleMania has, quite literally, hit a roadblock. On March 12, aspecial event will take place on WWE Network that could completely alter thelandscape of The Show of Shows. That is because at WWE Roadblock, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H will put his title on the line against The Lunatic Fringe, LIVE at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.Roman Reigns captured his WrestleMania World Title opportunity at WWE Fastlane, but the following night on Raw, Triple H systematically dismantled his No. 1 contender and sent him into surgery. While he recouped from the assault, his brother-in-arms Ambrose decided to keep the 14-time World Champion busy — a challenge that The Cerebral Assassin accepted in painful fashion.

The Roadblock title match is already raising many questions. Will The Game even hold the esteemed gold when Reigns finally comes calling on April 3? After all, though Triple H is The Authority, authority is something Ambrose simply does not recognize. For The King of Kings, is conquering the completely unpredictable adversary easier said than done?

Moreover, if Ambrose does manage to defeat The Game, isn’t Triple H entitled to a rematch of his own? Plus, what will come of The Lunatic Fringe’s already established showdown against Brock Lesnar at The Showcase of the Immortals?
