Tony Khan Addresses ROH Streaming Issues, Offers Free Credit & Confirms Delay of Taz’s Hall of Fame Induction

Ring of Honor’s Death Before Dishonor 2025 may have delivered inside the ring, but the broadcast didn’t go as smoothly as planned. During the post-show media scrum, ROH/AEW CEO Tony Khan openly addressed the technical issues that plagued the live stream and also provided an update on Taz’s postponed Hall of Fame induction.

Streaming Troubles Lead to Free Show & Free Credit

Fans watching via WatchROH.com ran into problems depending on their browser of choice, with Chrome, Firefox, and even Microsoft Edge users experiencing streaming errors. Khan explained that once the problem was identified, he quickly made the call to upload the full pay-per-view to YouTube for free worldwide — a bold decision made while the show was still in progress.

To make good with paying subscribers, Khan also announced that all current WatchROH.com members will automatically receive a one-month credit. While he acknowledged the financial hit — noting that “hundreds of thousands of dollars” worth of subscription revenue would be lost — Khan said the overwhelmingly positive response from fans made the decision worth it.

“The show we delivered was fantastic, and I think new fans must have seen it,” Khan said. “It was a lot of money to eat, but the response on social media was almost unanimously positive.”

The company will now work with streaming partner Brightcove to ensure the issue isn’t repeated.

Taz’s Hall of Fame Induction Moved to Dynamite

Another topic addressed during the scrum was the postponed 2300 Arena Hardcore Hall of Fame induction for Taz. The ceremony was originally scheduled for Death Before Dishonor, but at Taz’s request, the moment has been moved.

According to Khan, the ECW legend wanted more time to arrange for his family to attend the special honor. As a result, the induction will now take place on the September 3rd edition of AEW Dynamite.

“He asked if we could please wait until Wednesday so he could get his family lined up. It’s the least we can do for Taz,” Khan explained. “It’s a real honor for us to celebrate him in that building.”

Big Takeaway

While technical hiccups threatened to overshadow ROH’s biggest summer event, Tony Khan’s quick response and willingness to eat the cost turned what could’ve been a PR nightmare into a goodwill gesture. Fans not only got the show for free, but subscribers were also compensated — and the buzz online shows it paid off. Meanwhile, Taz’s induction being shifted to Dynamite gives the legend an even bigger stage for the recognition he deserves.

ROH Death Before Dishonor 2025 Results

Ring of Honor presented Death Before Dishonor 2025, a night filled with title changes and standout performances. The card, which aired for free on YouTube after some early technical hiccups, delivered plenty of memorable moments for ROH fans. Here’s a rundown of the action.

Pre-Show

  • Jay Lethal def. Jordan Oliver
Veteran vs. up-and-comer kicked things off. Oliver nearly stole one with a slick roll-up, but Lethal regained control, punishing the leg with dragon screw whips before locking in the Figure Four. With no escape in sight, Oliver was forced to tap.
  • MxM Collection (Mansoor & Mason Madden) def. Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver) and Griff Garrison & Cole Karter
A wild three-way tag match saw Dark Order firing up late, even hitting their signature combo on Mansoor. Just as Reynolds had a pin secured, Johnny TV sprayed “Seed” perfume in his eyes, allowing Mansoor to steal the win.
  • After his win, Lethal’s night wasn’t done — Blake Christian and Lee Johnson interrupted to remind everyone that Christian already owns a win over him. They vowed to take out more ROH legends when they meet The Kingdom.
  • Billie Starkz def. Ashley Vox (Pure Rules Match)
Starkz mixed her usual offense with the Pure Rules system, even landing a closed fist that earned her a referee warning. Vox fought with heart, but Starkz ultimately sealed it with a nasty backbreaker.
  • $50,000 Four-Way: Dralistico def. Adam Priest, Angelico & AR Fox
Dralistico survived a chaotic sprint, wiping out everyone (including Serpentico on the floor) before nailing Angelico with a flying Codebreaker to claim the cash prize.

Death Before Dishonor Main Card

  • Tomohiro Ishii & Hologram def. Ari Daivari & Tony Nese
  • ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship: Shane Taylor Promotions def. The Sons of Texas (Sammy Guevara, Ross & Marshall Von Erich)
Shane Taylor, Shawn Dean, and Carlie Bravo captured the gold in a hard-fought clash, cutting short Guevara and the Von Erichs’ reign.
  • Women’s Pure Championship Tournament Quarterfinal: Queen Aminata def. Taya Valkyrie
Aminata advanced in the inaugural tournament, knocking off the veteran Valkyrie to move one step closer to the historic title.
  • Blake Christian & Lee Johnson def. The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett)
Christian and Johnson backed up their pre-show words with a big victory over the decorated Kingdom.
  • ROH Pure Championship: Lee Moriarty (c) def. Xelhua
Technical wrestling at its finest. Xelhua burned through all three rope breaks before finding himself trapped in Moriarty’s octopus hold. With nowhere to go, the luchador submitted, keeping the title around Moriarty’s waist.
  • Fight Without Honor: QT Marshall def. Paul Walter Hauser
Hollywood clashed with hardcore in a brutal showdown. Hauser bled and battled through kendo stick shots and even a terrifying powerbomb on thumbtacks. Hook made a surprise appearance to neutralize Aaron Solo, but in the end, QT survived a low blow and nailed an avalanche cutter through a glass-covered table for the win. Post-match, QT showed respect by fist-bumping the bloodied actor.
  • ROH World Tag Team Championship: Sammy Guevara & Rush def. The Outrunners
Rush was revealed as Guevara’s mystery partner, and the two captured the tag gold. After surviving a late Outrunners rally, Rush hit the Bull’s Horns before Guevara sealed the win with a dive. The celebration turned sour when Guevara betrayed the Von Erichs with a superkick, as LFI laid waste to the brothers.
  • ROH World Championship: Bandido (c) def. Hechicero
In what many will call the match of the night, Bandido and Hechicero put on a near half-hour masterpiece. After countering each other’s signature moves, Bandido finally caught the technical wizard with a bridging German suplex to retain. A must-watch bout for ROH fans.
  • ROH Women’s World Championship: Athena (c) def. Mina Shirakawa
The main event was a 25-minute war. With The Blue Meanie briefly involved in some early antics, things turned serious as both women targeted injuries — Mina’s hand, Athena’s knee. Shirakawa nearly scored the upset with a Mina Driver, but Athena powered through with a straitjacket powerbomb and sealed the deal with the O-Face. “The Fallen Goddess” continues her dominant reign as the “Forever Champion.”

ROH Death Before Dishonor Rescheduled Once Again — Now Set for August 29

Ring of Honor’s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view has shifted dates yet again.

During this past Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision, it was revealed that the annual ROH event will now take place on Friday, August 29, a change from the previously announced date of Friday, September 5. Despite the shuffle, the venue remains locked in — Philadelphia’s iconic 2300 Arena will still host the show.

This latest move marks the second time the event has been rescheduled. Death Before Dishonor was originally slated for July 11, but AEW/ROH officials pushed it back without much explanation. As with the previous change, no official reason was provided for this latest adjustment.

With the event now set for late August, fans are hoping this will be the final word on the date. Death Before Dishonor has long been a key event on the ROH calendar, and after multiple shifts, there’s plenty of buzz about what Tony Khan and company have planned for this year’s card.

ROH Announces Death Before Dishonor At ECW Arena, Reschedules Supercard Of Honor

Ring of Honor is shaking up its 2025 calendar with a major reshuffle of two of its flagship shows—Supercard of Honor and Death Before Dishonor. Originally set for different dates and cities, both events have swapped places and are heading to entirely new venues, marking a significant change in ROH’s annual schedule.

Supercard of Honor Heads to Texas in July

Initially planned for Friday, May 2 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, Supercard of Honor will now take place on Friday, July 11 at the Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas—the same weekend AEW is running its highly-anticipated All In Texas event at Globe Life Field. The move positions Supercard as a high-profile lead-in to one of AEW’s biggest shows of the year, potentially giving ROH a larger spotlight as fans descend on the Lone Star State.

This date switch leaves the Atlantic City event off the board, and fans who had already secured tickets for the original May 2 date will receive full refunds at the point of purchase. In addition, those fans will be given exclusive presale access once Death Before Dishonor tickets go on sale.

Death Before Dishonor Returns to Philadelphia Roots

With Supercard now in July, Death Before Dishonor slides into the fall and gets a fitting new home: the legendary 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, set for Friday, September 5. Longtime fans will know the venue well—it’s the iconic former ECW Arena and one of the most storied buildings in independent wrestling history.

The 2300 Arena holds a special place in ROH lore. While the company initially ran events at the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory in the early 2000s, it shifted to the ECW Arena in 2008, using it heavily for TV tapings during the “ROH on HDNet” era. Philly has been a spiritual home for Ring of Honor over the years, making this return both symbolic and meaningful.

The venue has continued to be a hotbed for pro wrestling, having recently hosted promotions like New Japan Pro-Wrestling, TNA, and even a taping of WWE NXT as recently as November 2024. Bringing Death Before Dishonor to this historic arena only adds to the buzz surrounding ROH’s fall schedule.

A Strategic Pivot

These scheduling shifts appear to be strategic on multiple fronts. Positioning Supercard of Honor around AEW’s All In Texas weekend could drive crossover traffic from die-hard fans traveling for the bigger show, while Death Before Dishonor’s return to Philly offers a nostalgia-fueled boost for longtime supporters of the brand.

It’s clear that Ring of Honor is continuing to evolve its identity under the AEW umbrella, and these venue changes signal a renewed focus on legacy, location, and strategic synergy with AEW’s biggest events.

ROH Death Before Dishonor 7/26/2024 (Results)

Zero Hour

MxM Collection defeated Angelico & Serpentico. Mansoor and Mason Madden made their ROH debut with nifty teamwork and stunning poses. Hot tag to Madden to clean house. Tag back to Mansoor for the double-team double underhook brainbuster on Serpentico to win. Afterward, Maria Kanellis complimented the work of the MxM Collection. The insinuation being that she is interested in managing them.

Marina Shafir defeated Angelica Risk. Shafir kicked ass to win via chokehold.

The Infantry defeated Griff Garrison & Anthony Henry. Maria Kanellis was ringside to support Garrison in a makeshift tag team due to the injured Cole Karter. As the match progressed, Henry argued with Maria. He ran the ropes and accidentally knocked her off the apron into the arms of Garrison. Meanwhile, the Infantry closed with the Boot Camp big boot to side Russian leg sweep finisher. Shawn Dean made the pin.

Top Flight defeated Outrunners. Dante Martin blasted a jumping knee to send Turbo Floyd tumbling out of the ring. Darius Martin finished Truth Magnum with a fireman’s carry cutter.

Death Before Dishonor

The Beast Mortos defeated Komander. Amazing highlight reel of cool moves. Komander gambled for a rope-walking shooting star press, but he missed the mark when Mortos moved. The beast hit a vicious backbreaker and the Power Bull inverted piledriver to win. Breaking news that Mortos will wrestle Hologram on Collision.

Melissa Santos interviewed the MxM Collection. They spoke in acronyms to call out FTR for Collision. Dax Harwood needs an extreme makeover, but Cash Wheeler has potential.

ROH World Tag Team Championship: Matt Taven & Mike Bennett defeated Kyle O’Reilly & Tomohiro Ishii to retain the titles. Epic action with a garbage finish. Drama was hot, then Don Callis and Kyle Fletcher entered the scene. Callis distracted the referee, O’Reilly lunged at Fletcher, and Bennett struck O’Reilly with a low blow to win.

Texas Death Match: Leyla Hirsch defeated Diamante. Badass violence. Hirsch was busted open when stuck in the Tree of Woe for a dropkick into chairs to the face. Diamante bled as well. I think that was from colliding face-first into a chair in the corner. Diamante duct taped Hirsch to the ropes to beat her on the head with a chancla stuck with tacks. Hirsch hit a Samoan drop off the apron through a barbed wire board. On the finish, Hirsch duct taped Diamante to the table. Hirsch climbed a tall ladder for a moonsault through the table. The referee began the ten-count. Hirsch rose to her feet at 9. Diamante was still down at 10.

ROH Pure Championship: Lee Moriarty defeated Wheeler Yuta to win the title. Pure rules in effect. Battle of technicians. Both men used all three rope-breaks. Yuta suckered Moriarty into an armbar. Moriarty reached the ropes, but no more breaks. Moriarty used the ropes to roll into top position for a pin, and he put his feet on the ropes for leverage to win.

ROH Women’s World Television Championship: Red Velvet defeated Billie Starkz to win the title. Starkz tried to fake a neck injury again, but it didn’t work this time. After Starkz ‘surprised’ her opponent to continue the match, Velvet played possum to throw her off the turnbuckles. Velvet pounced for a front reverse DDT to win.

ROH World Six-Man Championship eliminator match: Dustin Rhodes & the Von Erichs defeated Dark Order. Winners advance to wrestle the Undisputed Kingdom for the six-man straps at Battle of the Belts. Dark Order used cowbell and cowboy hat antics to take control. They worked a smart game plan consistently attacking Rhodes on the outside to keep him out of the match. That lasted only so long. Hot tag to Rhodes running wild with snap powerslams. Dark Order dumped the Von Erichs over the barricade to attack Rhodes with a numbers advantage. That led to an Iron Claw return from the Von Erichs to clear the path for Rhodes to deliver the Shattered Dreams kick to Reynolds. A Final Reckoning suplex sealed the deal. Afterward, Katsuyori Shibata entered the ring to give the Von Erichs his endorsement. The Texas crowd was hot throughout for this match.

ROH World Television Championship: Atlantis Jr. defeated Brian Cage, Johnny TV, Lio Rush, Shane Taylor, and Lee Johnson to retain the title in Survival of the Fittest. Elimination style of contest. The flow was often one-on-one action with highlights galore. Taylor was eliminated first by Rush via frog splash after everyone teamed up on Taylor. Rush was eliminated second by Johnson via lifting reverse DDT. Johnson was eliminated third by Cage via springboard kick powerbomb combo with Johnny. Johnny was eliminated fourth by Cage via Drill Claw. Cage was eliminated fifth by Atlantis Jr. via roll-up on countering the Drill Claw. Atlantis Jr. was the last man standing.

ROH Women’s World Championship: Athena defeated Queen Aminata to retain the title. Slow pace with hard hits. Athena crushed a tombstone piledriver onto the ring steps. Aminata kicked out on the cover and roared back with anger. Aminata headbutt Athena to set up a double underhook driver. Billie Starkz ran in with Red Velvet right behind to prevent interference. Aminata headbutt Starkz off the apron. Meanwhile, Athena called over Lexy Nair to take her microphone. Boom! Athena walloped Animata with the mic as the referee was dealing with Starkz and Velvet. Athena took flight for the O-Face to win.

ROH World Championship: Mark Briscoe defeated Roderick Strong to retain the title. As Briscoe had momentum setting up a Jay Driller, the Kingdom ran in to interfere. Mike Bennett bashed Briscoe with a title belt. 1, 2, dramatic kick out by Briscoe. Kyle O’Reilly and Tomohiro Ishii ran in to even the odds and brawl with the Kingdom. Briscoe surged for a froggy bow to win.

Tony Khan – ‘Mark Briscoe’s Injury Changed Everything For ROH Death Before Dishonor 2023’

Speaking during a media call for Death Before Dishonor 2023, AEW President Tony Khan revealed that certain plans had to be altered due to Mark Briscoe’s recent injury.

Khan noted that he had hoped to get Eddie Kingston back from NJPW in time for Death Before Dishonor but the current situation didn’t permit the same.

You can check out some highlights from the media call below:

On the obstacles to Khan’s preferred plans for Death Before Dishonor: “I was hoping maybe even some possibility that Eddie could fly back to participate in Death Before Dishonor and then go back to Japan, and I certainly would have accommodated the travel if that was possible. It wasn’t possible. Mark Briscoe, I had slotted for something different on the card. It turned out that also was not viable for another reason. There have been so many things that came up and it can be like a domino effect. It’s very challenging. With Mark Briscoe’s injury, it was very challenging because Mark had been dealing with injuries for a while and I think some of us almost took it for granted because Mark is such a fighter and amazing person with an amazing spirit. People sympathize with Mark for many reasons, and he’s such a compelling wrestling character and always has been. I felt Mark could be an emotional hook for this pay-per-view in a lot of ways and it was a pivot. With Eddie going to Japan, I thought it would be cool with Eddie having a big moment winning the STRONG Championship and he passed on some wisdom to Mark Briscoe. I knew he was dealing with some injuries, but honestly, he had been dealing with them for a long time, and I think the pain had become too much to manage and it had become very challenging for him. To be honest, he hadn’t told many people about that, including our doctors. The people who knew really well knew he was hurting. I think Mark was no selling it. I know he was no selling the doctors on how much pain he was in. That’s why they were surprised that this had become a lifestyle challenge for him. When he came to me and said, ‘It’s worse than I was letting on. I’m not sure I can do this.’ That meant changing everything.”

On working around Briscoe’s injury: “If Mark comes to me and says he needs something, I’m going to do it, no matter what it is. If he needs time to heal up and needs me to pivot the pay-per-view, I’m going to do that for him, without questions. I’ll do it for pretty much anybody, but I’ll do it with a smile for Mark Briscoe. It meant changing pretty much everything again.”
