WWE announced today that NXT Women’s Champion Asuka broke her right collarbone during her match with Ember Moon this past Saturday at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III. The typical recovery time for the injury is 6-8 weeks.

“During the match, she landed awkwardly from a throw from Ember Moon and was able to complete the match, but had notable pain and discomfort,” ringside physician Dr. Jeffrey Westerfield said. “We performed an initial ultrasound backstage that was highly suspicious of a break that was later confirmed by an X-ray.”

No timetable has been given for Asuka’s return. The next set of NXT tapings takes place this Thursday at Full Sail University.

WWE Confirms Lio Rush Has Signed A Deal, Began Training At The Performance Center

lio rush signs wwe contract deal performance center

WWE announced the signing of top independent wrestler Lio Rush, who officially joined the WWE Performance Center yesterday.

Here is the full statement:

WWE signs Lio RushWWE has announced a blockbuster signing in the form of 22-year-old prodigy Lio Rush.

Internationally recognized as one of the ring’s top high-flyers, Rush officially joined the WWE Performance Center today in Orlando, Fla.

Born Lionel Gerard Green, of Lanham, Md., Rush wrestled in high school, becoming a two-time All-American and three-time state qualifier. He began training for sports-entertainment in 2014 and, in less than three years, has competed in 43 states, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Germany and Ireland. In 2016, he won Ring of Honor’s Top Prospect Tournament, and earlier this year, he held the Combat Zone Wrestling Heavyweight Championship.

The 160-pounder quickly became a fan favorite on the independent scene for his daredevil creativity and unbelievable resiliency, as well as his “Dragon’s Call” finisher, a devastating frog splash that recalls D’Lo Brown’s split-leg variation. In joining the WWE PC, Rush reunites with a former tag team partner, current NXT Superstar The Velveteen Dream, with whom Rush co-held the Maryland Championship Wrestling Tag Team Titles in 2015.

WWE apparently has plans for Rush to join NXT in the near future as the announcement was filed under the NXT section on WWE.com.

Former ROH Champion Adam Cole Signs With WWE

As has been expected for quite some time, former three-time Ring of Honor champion Adam Cole has signed with WWE.

That’s the word according to a report from PWInsider and confirmed by the Wrestling Observer.

WWE has been interested in the 28-year-old star for quite some time. However, he decided to wait so he could continue working for Ring of Honor along with more opportunities in Japan. Over the past year, he wrestled in New Japan Pro Wrestling as a member of the “Bullet Club” and also defeated Kyle O’Reilly at “Wrestle Kingdom 11” this past January to win the ROH Championship.

Cole is expected to report to the company’s Performance Center in Orlando, Fla. later this week and debut with NXT in the near future.  That could be as early as this Saturday at the “TakeOver: Brooklyn III” event at the Barclays Center on the night before “SummerSlam.”

Pro Wrestling Sheet has learned that HoHo Lun wasn’t fired from WWE … the wrestler requested his own release in order to deal with a family situation.

WrestlingInc first reported Lun’s exit and now a rep for WWE confirms, “WWE has granted HoHo Lun’s request to be released for personal reasons.”

No word on what the family situation he’s dealing with is exactly.

Lun came to WWE by way of the Cruiserweight Classic where he made it to the second round and was eliminated by current 205 Live star Noam Dar.

HoHo had been used sparingly on NXT TV, but did team with Tian Bing in the Dusty Rhodes Classic.

His last televised match was against Velveteen Dream in a losing effort back in late June.
