Mauro Ranallo Will Miss NXT TakeOver This Saturday

POST Wrestling is reporting that Mauro Ranallo will not be on commentary for this Saturday’s NXT TakeOver: Chicago II special airing live on the WWE Network.

Ranallo had a scheduling conflict and will instead be calling the Showtime Championship Boxing card this Saturday night in Dallas instead.

Vic Joseph, who does commentary for WWE as part of 205 Live, will be replacing Ranallo on Saturday night. Ranallo is scheduled to fly to London, England after the Showtime boxing event to do commentary for the WWE United Kingdom Tournament at Royal Albert Hall.

Pat McAfee Announces NXT TakeOver Pre-Show Return

NXT TakeOver: Chicago will feature Pat McAfee on the pre-show and the popular Barstool Sports personality couldn’t be more excited to return.

McAfee shared the news on Instagram with a picture of him signing the contract and a caption saying, “Living a bucket list life.. Enjoying the hell out of life.. June 16th, @wwenxt Takeover Chicago.. The #PreShowShaman returns.”

Pat was on the panel for TakeOver: New Orleans and received mixed reviews.

Update On Tommaso Ciampa’s Injury From Triple H & If He Will Work Saturday’s ‘NXT Takeover: Chicago’ Event

We reported on Thursday night that Tommaso Ciampa of DIY was injured at that evening’s NXT live event in Highland Heights, KY. Early during a match pitting DIY against Sanity, Ciampa dived off the ring apron onto Sanity and hurt his left leg. The match was quickly stopped and ruled a no-contest. An upset Ciampa hopped to the back yelling, “get me the f–k out of here.”

Ciampa and Johnny Gargano were scheduled to face NXT Tag Team Champions The Authors of Pain for the titles at NXT: Takeover this Saturday. Triple H took part in a media conference call this morning to promote the event. During the call, I asked Triple H about Ciampa’s injury and his status for this Saturday.

“He turned his ankle somewhere [during the match],” Triple H said. “As a precaution everything shut down, it stopped, he got out of there. He went for an X-ray last night, and there’s no break or fracture. He’s got an ankle sprain. When I texted with him this morning, he was feeling better and was up moving around and felt like he was not going to have an issue with it. It was not really bothering him, it was not really as bad as they thought it was.”

Triple H noted that Ciampa was up and moving around, and their medical team will decide if he can work Saturday’s show. He said that as of right now, Ciampa is in “but we’ll see how that goes.” He added that Gargano and Ciampa were very excited to work in Chicago, which is somewhat of their homebase, and he would hate to see that ruined because it’s a moment for them.

Asked if there was a backup plan in place in case Ciampa is not able to work the match. Triple H said that if Ciampa’s condition worsens today, then he will try to figure out other plans.

“Right now I’m going to keep a positive frame of mind that he will be there tomorrow,” Triple H said

Jim Ross To Call WWE NXT ‘Takeover: Chicago’ Match

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross announced yesterday that he will be calling the UK Championship match at Saturday’s WWE NXT “Takeover: Chicago” event on the WWE Network. JR’s announce  partner for the match will be Nigel McGuinness.

JR and Nigel will also be calling the WWE UK special that premieres on the WWE Network this coming Friday afternoon.

Ember Moon Confirms Injury, No Longer Wrestling At NXT Takeover: Chicago (Video)

Speculation has run rampant for weeks, but Ember Moon has now confirmed that her shoulder is hurt — and WWE reports that she’ll no longer be wrestling at NXT Takeover: Chicago.

“There’s no Takeover: Chicago for me. I’m out,” Moon said in a video posted by WWE Monday afternoon. WWE also reports that she sustained a grade one shoulder sprain.

Rumors of Moon’s injury began after the last set of NXT tapings when images of Moon in a sling emerged after she landed hard on the floor during an ambush from Asuka. However, this has been the first confirmation that she will be off of the show and out four to five weeks.

No official word as to whether she’ll be replaced in the upcoming match or if it’s now a triple threat. As for Moon, she remains hopeful. “When I get back, I’m going to be better than ever.”
