Jeff Hardy Injury And WWE Status Notes

As noted, SmackDown Tag Team Champion Jeff Hardy reportedly suffered a leg injury at the April 20 WWE live event in Madison, Wisconsin as The Hardy Boys defeated The Usos. Hardy appeared the next night in Rochester, MN to be in Matt Hardy’s corner for his win over Jimmy Uso, but he did not get physical and was said to be limping pretty bad. Hardy did not appear the following night in Sioux City, as Matt teamed with R-Truth for a win over Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, and he was not backstage for SmackDown on Tuesday.

Hardy appears to be suffering from a right knee injury, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, and the severity of the injury is still unknown. Hardy has had a bad right knee since his 2015 dirt bike accident, and has worked with a torn PCL for the past four years.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that officials will have to make a decision on the titles this coming week as there are two versions going around from people close to the situation – one is that Hardy needs knee surgery and will have to do the title change, and the other is that he’s just banged up, but they’re not sure how bad.

It’s believed among the people in WWE who need to know Hardy’s status for storyline purposes that he is scheduled to undergo knee surgery this coming week after SmackDown. This could be why the injury is being kept a secret. People close to Hardy are saying he’s injured, but hopefully not too bad, and right now Jeff is just playing things safe, according to the Observer.

There’s on word yet on if The Hardy Boys will appear on Tuesday’s SmackDown in Columbus, OH, but they could end up doing a title change or an injury angle to write Jeff out.

Jeff Hardy Reportedly Injured At Weekend WWE Live Event

WWE Tag Team Champion Jeff Hardy suffered an injury at Saturday’s night’s SmackDown live event in Madison, Wisconsin, according to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. The Hardyz had teamed up at that event to defeat The Usos.

Meltzer reported that Hardy appeared to have suffered some sort of leg injury. At Sunday’s SmackDown live event in Rochester, Minnesota, Jeff was in Matt’s corner and was said to be “limping significantly.” At the show, Matt defeated Jimmy Uso.

At Monday’s live event in Sioux City, Iowa, Matt Hardy teamed with R-Truth to defeat Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.

The Hardy Boyz had just defeated The Usos to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship on the April 9th edition of SmackDown Live. They are the first team to win the WWE World Tag Team Championship, the RAW Tag Team Championship and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

No other details are known about Jeff’s injury.

Hardy Boyz Win Smackdown Tag Titles, then Attacked By Lars Sullivan

Last night on SmackDown Live The Hardy Boyz (Matt & Jeff Hardy) defeated The Usos to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. After the match, Lars Sullivan came down and attacked the Hardy’s leaving them laying.

Matt Hardy Comments On WWE Contract Ending Very Soon

Last August, Matt Hardy’s wife, Reby Hardy appeared on Busted Open and spoke about her husband, who was going through a transitional period at the time where he was stepping away from the ring to rehabilitate his back and hip. She also noted his WWE contract would be up in March of this year.

“Matt is good. Matt is right now going through a bit of a transitional period,” Hardy said. “He’s not really sure what he’s going to be doing. His contract is up in March, which I’m not sure many people are aware of. But there’s sort of a decision to be made at this point as to whether or not he should continue his in-ring career or if he should pursue something different, which he would totally be up for and would be excited to do, I feel like.”

Earlier today, Hardy tweeted out photos from 2014 when he held titles in two different indie promotions and wrote how he felt “comfortable” working outside of WWE.

“#TBT 2014 As both the MCW Wrestling & Extreme Rising Champion, whilst working dozens of territories. I’ve always felt comfortable outside of the WWE.”

Hardy would respond to an individual who said that will probably be a tweet he’ll be forced to delete. The WWE Superstar replied it was quite the opposite and noted he has 11 days left on his WWE contract.

“Not a threat at all, just a fact. I have 11 days left on my current deal. I love WWE, but I’m 100% comfortable being outside the walls of pro wrestling’s ‘Alexandria’ Safe-Zone. I’m a born survivalist. My previous tweet will nevah face deletion.”

Last month, Hardy noted he was “physically greenlit” to return to the ring.

Backstage News On WWE Pushing Tag Team Division, The Revival, The Hardy’s

WWE officials are reportedly looking to revive the tag team division, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

WWE tag teams have been told that they would be receiving a big push soon, apparently to counter All Elite Wrestling, who will be putting a major focus on tag teams.

The Revival’s Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder were even told that they would be the face of the division. As noted, Dawson and Wilder’s WWE contracts do not expire until April 2020. They recently asked for their releases because they’re serious about doing the best work they can do, and the feeling was that won’t happen in WWE because the company isn’t focused on tag teams. That looks to be changing now.

This week’s RAW indicated that Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins may be getting back together to work the division. The Authors of Pain will be away from the division for several months due to Akam’s leg injury.

On a related note, the contracts for Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy will expire in WrestleMania 35 season but the feeling is that they are staying for at least one more year. The brothers signed a two-year deal in 2017 with a third-year option. It’s believed WWE will pick that option up now. The option does include a significant pay raise for the third year. Matt has been teasing his return to action after taking some time off to heal in 2018.

Jeff Hardy Teases Appearing At “Hell In A Cell” As Brother Nero, Reveals His Main Goal In WWE

Jeff Hardy took part in a media call this week to promote Sunday’s WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. Wrestling Inc. was on the call, below are the questions Wrestling Inc.’s Akhilesh Gannavarapu asked Jeff:

* * * *

Jeff, you’re the most recent addition to the list of Grand Slam Champions in the WWE in the modern format. Looking back at what you’ve accomplished so far in the WWE, what’s your next aim or ambition to achieve in the company?

“Well, you know, it’s coming up really soon. I mean, it’s just days away, and I’ve been talking about it for the last eight years. The one thing I’ve never done in the WWE is (participate in) the Hell In A Cell match, and here we are. I’m in the Hell In A Cell with Randy Orton, and so I’ve been asking for it all this time, and now I have to see what I can do inside there. It’s going to be very memorable; I’ll do something that people won’t forget. That’s one to knock off my list as far as things that I want to do.”

I was going to ask you that. You previously talked about wanting to participate in a Hell In A Cellmatch, something you never participated in. Is there anything else on your bucket list you’d want to cross off before you call it a day?

“I would like to win the world title again for sure. That’s probably the main thing; back when me and my brother returned at WrestleMania 33 we won the tag team championships. It’d be good now that we are doing solo deals, in singles competition to be the world champion again. That’s one thing for sure.”

At Hell In A Cell, you will face a familiar foe in Randy Orton. Many remember the outrageous moments you both were involved in over a decade ago. Now that you will both square off inside the Hell In A Cell, what can we expect from the Charismatic Enigma?

“You can expect the unexpected. I think my thoughts are too big for my size sometimes. I got a lot of good ideas as far as what I can do inside that structure. And this Sunday, we are going to find out if what I’m thinking is possible or not. It’s going to be a very memorable Jeff Hardy match.”

When you and Matt returned to the WWE last year, obviously everything was different from when you were there the last time. What has been the biggest difference for you since returning to the company, either in terms of talent, the focus on women’s division or anything else?

“Not much has changed as far as my position (is concerned). I feel kind of the same as I did before, (I’m) just a little older. There are a lot of new faces; The Shield is now… they are the main–eventers… I mean, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose… I’ve been in the ring with Dean and Seth, and Roman – not yet. But hopefully that will happen in the future, and I forget, (but) there are quite a few new faces. But the family is still here. We’ve been coming here off and on since I was 16 years old. It’s been 25 – 26 years, whatever it has been. Not much has changed, other than the faces, and social media. That has probably been the biggest difference.”

Finally, I got to ask you about something the fans were expecting to see when you returned to the WWE. With Woken Matt returning to his Woken Universe, while we’ve seen a few glimpses, was there any discussion about Brother Nero appearing on WWE programming, and is there a chance the WWE fans can see the alter ego of Jeff Hardy?

“Yeah, I think so. I mean, I kind of feel like me wearing the face paint now, and breaking out the white contacts – it’s like a modified version of Brother Nero. And that might take a completely drastic turn this Sunday at Hell In A Cell. I might really go all out as Brother Nero. And who knows? You might even see Willow. He may pop up here. From the Broken Universe, anything is possible!”

Jeff Hardy Pleads Guilty To DWI, License Suspended For 120-Days

jeff hardy legal update license suspended guilty dwi

WWE United States champ Jeff Hardy plead guilty on Monday to driving while impaired earlier this year and his license was promptly suspended for 120-days.

According to WBTV … Hardy was also fined $300 for court costs and, in addition to turning over his license, the wrestler will need to complete an assessment/treatment class.

As we previously reported, the arrest took place in March after Jeff ran off the roadway around 8pm and struck a guardrail. The crash caused his car to spin out into the middle of the road. Jeff submitted to a breath test before his arrest and blew a .25 — more than three times the legal limit.

At the time, a rep for WWE said, “Jeff Hardy is responsible for his own personal actions. We are investigating the matter and awaiting information from local law enforcement officials.” When he returned from injury not long after, Hardy won the United States Championship.

In case you missed it, the trailer for WWE 24 on The Hardys was shown tonight during Raw.
