First place finish at the 2013 International Fruitcake Eating Championship on December 7th in Santa Claus, Indiana by Mick Foley was overturned by Judges. Foley appeared to have achieved an upset by being the first competitor to finish a one-pound fruitcake & bellow out a jolly “Ho! Ho! Ho!”, the required signal of completion. However the judges threw out Foley’s potentially winning time, when they ruled that Foley was responsible for the half-eaten fruitcake that had been found hidden under a napkin. Foley was ultimately awarded 4th place by the judges, a ruling which still allowed him to finish ahead of several competitors. Foley wants a rematch next year.
