Cora Jade & Gigi Dolin Speak Out After WWE Releases, Push Back on “Lazy” Narrative

WWE’s latest wave of talent cuts has stirred up plenty of conversation—and two of the most talked-about names are firing back at behind-the-scenes claims surrounding their departures.

Gigi Dolin and Cora Jade, both of whom had been prominently featured on WWE NXT, were released this past Friday, just weeks after appearing at NXT Stand & Deliver in a kickoff four-way tag team elimination match. Their exits, alongside several other talents from both the main roster and NXT, came as part of another round of budget-related releases.

However, the narrative took a turn when Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that some of those cut were believed to not be putting in enough effort during training, even citing the term “lazy” as being used internally. That didn’t sit well with either Dolin or Jade, who took to social media to push back.

Dolin, clearly frustrated, defended her commitment:

“When I wasn’t traveling for either of the two companies I worked for, I trained hard 3-4 days a week—bumping, doing cardio drills with one of the toughest coaches I’ve ever had. I worked out every day, did live events every other weekend. So yeah, I don’t wanna hear this lol. The way my body feels says otherwise.”

Jade, meanwhile, shared a more personal and troubling aspect of her WWE experience, revealing that she chose to train at her own gym after dealing with body shaming within the company:

“This, plus can’t forget having to go to my own gym after ‘strength and conditioning’ that wasn’t doing anything for me — other than getting me body shamed by my bosses, coworkers, and fans 🙂 crazy!”

Both Dolin and Jade signed with WWE in January 2021 and had become key players in the NXT women’s division. Dolin, as part of the Toxic Attraction faction, held the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship twice, while Jade quickly emerged as one of the brand’s standout personalities and future prospects.

While neither has addressed their next move just yet, it’s clear that both women are leaving WWE with plenty still to say—and plenty still to prove.

With the women’s wrestling scene thriving across promotions like TNA, AEW, and STARDOM, could a new chapter be just around the corner for Dolin and Jade?

Gigi Dolin Makes Triumphant Return at NXT Live Event

NXT Superstar Gigi Dolin made her long-awaited return to the ring at the NXT Live Event on Friday night, November 22, at the Lakeland Armory in Lakeland, Florida. In her first match since recovering from a serious injury, fans at the Lakeland Armory erupted with excitement, clearly thrilled to see Dolin back in action. Dolin secured a victory over Cora Jade, signaling that she’s back and ready to make waves in the NXT women’s division.

Overcoming Adversity

Dolin has been sidelined since suffering a torn ACL on the March 12, 2024, episode of NXT. The injury was a major setback for the fan-favorite, known for her unique blend of charisma and in-ring intensity. Her road to recovery has been a challenging one, but her successful return shows she’s ready to pick up where she left off.

What’s Next for Gigi Dolin?

With her return, speculation is already swirling about what’s next for Dolin in NXT. Could she re-enter the hunt for the NXT Women’s Championship? Will her return reignite old rivalries or spark new ones? Whatever the case, Dolin’s presence is sure to shake things up in the women’s division as NXT heads into the final stretch of the year.

Report – Gigi Dolin Dealing With ‘Significant Knee Injury’

Gigi Dolin has been absent from NXT TV for the past few weeks, and according to a recent report from Fightful Select, she is currently dealing with an injury.

Dolin’s storyline with Arianna Grace has been discontinued, and she has not been present backstage during the TV tapings. The former Toxic Attraction member is sidelined due to a “significant knee injury.”

Dolin had been featured on NXT TV alongside Grace in a storyline in which she was compelled to follow the latter’s guidance to refine her skills as a “proper lady.”

The report mentions that Dolin was the subject of discussions regarding a potential call-up to the main roster earlier this year.

In recent times, Dolin has not been present backstage during the TV tapings, and most of her segments with Grace were recorded outside of the WWE Performance Center. These segments were strategically utilized to maintain her television presence while she recuperates from her injury.

Dolin’s most recent appearance was in a match against Grace on the March 12th episode of WWE NXT.

Toxic Attraction Removed From Tag Title Tournament Due To Gigi Dolin Concussion

Fans had been waiting months for WWE to announce what it had planned for the Women’s Tag Titles after Sasha Banks and Naomi handed them over and walked out. It took Vince McMahon retiring for those plans to be put in place. A tournament to decide who the new champions will be. However, as that tournament nears its end, it has been wrought with issues.

Last Friday, as Nikkita Lyons and Zoey Stark prepared to make their main roster debuts, WWE revealed the NXT duo would not be competing in the tournament. Stark is legitimately injured, and Lyons is too apparently though whether that’s the case or not remains up in the air. Toxic Attraction replaced the pair and defeated Natalya and Sonya Deville to progress.

Three days later, the high Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne were likely riding after debuting on SmackDown and winning their first match has come crashing down. Right before Raw went live on Monday, WWE revealed that Toxic Attraction, who were replacements themselves, will now need to be replaced. WWE reported Dolin suffered an injury on SmackDown, and it has since been revealed (via Wrestling Observer Radio) that injury was a concussion.

It was a little unclear how exactly WWE would fill a tournament for the Tag Titles when there aren’t that many women’s teams to begin with. That reality has really hit home with yet another replacement needed. Instead of finding another team, the four duos who lost their first round bouts will get a second chance match. The Four-Way tag team bout will take place this Friday on SmackDown.

Elsewhere in the bracket, Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai booked their spot in the final on Raw last night. Raquel Gonzalez and Aliyah are the other team left in, and they will face the winner of the 4-way match. When exactly that second semifinal, and then the final, will take place is unclear. Probably not at Clash at the Castle since Sky and Kai are already booked in a different match that night.
