WWE Doctor On Finn Balor’s Injury Being More Severe Than Normal, Update On His Ring Return

Finn Balor underwent shoulder surgery on Tuesday evening after being forced to drop the WWE Universal Title on Monday’s RAW, just 24 hours after winning it at SummerSlam. The injury came when Balor took a powerbomb into the barrier from Seth Rollins.

WWE’s Dr. Jeffrey Dugas commented on Balor’s operation and noted that the injury was more severe than normal. Dugas said:

“Finn’s injury was pretty severe, more severe than normal. A really high energy injury, it did more damage than a standard shoulder dislocation where you simply tear the labrum. The prognosis is excellent, however. We were able to fix it all and put it back where it came from. I’m anticipating him getting back at full speed.”

It’s been expected that Balor would be out of action for 4-6 months but WWE did not include an updated timeframe in their latest report. There was some concern at RAW that he could be out of action for a few months longer.

Balor tweeted these photos after surgery yesterday:

Balor cut a promo on how he achieved the impossible at SummerSlam, then relinquished the title. Balor said he is coming for the title as soon as he’s able to.

It was announced by RAW General Manager Mick Foley and RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon that a new Universal Champion will be crowned on next week’s RAW after a series of matches.

Seth Rollins defeated Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens defeated Neville, Big Cass defeated Rusev and Roman Reigns defeated Chris Jericho. The winners advanced to a Fatal 4-Way match next week to determine the new WWE Universal Champion.

WWE Drops “Balor Club” Trademark

Source: WrestlingINC

WWE abandoned the trademark “Balor Club” on June 22nd.

The application to trademark the name had been in an “OPPOSE TO REGISTER” stage since January of this year due to Baylor University filing an opposition. This abandonment does not appear related as Baylor still had not filed their official opposition as of June 22nd when WWE abandoned their application.

No word yet on why the trademark was dropped but it was listed as an Express Abandonment, like the recent trademark application for Legion of Doom, the name used by The Road Warriors.

It looks like when Finn Balor does make it to WWE’s main roster, he will not be using the “Balor Club” name with Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson and perhaps AJ Styles.

Sunday’s WWE Money In the Bank pay-per-view could end up being one of the most newsworthy pay-per-views of the year. Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there is once again internal talk about Finn Balor being called up. It’s possible his call-up is held off for the WWE Draft in July, but his debut is said to be imminent. There’s also plans in the works for The Wyatt Family, Neville and Randy Orton to return in the next few weeks. No word yet on if any of those returns will come on Sunday but The Wyatts have been rumored.

Ticket sales picked up in the past week and the company is expecting to sellout the 13,000 seat configuration at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
