WWE Bringing Back The Elimination Chamber PPV?

Image result for elimination chamber 2017

WrestleMania kicks into full gear at the Royal Rumble but the road to WrestleMania will include a returning pay-per-view. The Elimination Chamber is scheduled to return in February. There’s no word yet on if this will be a Raw or Smackdown-branded show but if you follow the list of alternating Raw/Smackdown pay-per-views, it would seem that the Chamber show will be a Smackdown-branded show. The last Raw-branded show before the Royal Rumble is the Roadblock PPV in December so Elimination Chamber will probably be a Smackdown show and Fastlane will probably be a Raw-branded show. The last Elimination Chamber show took place on May 31, 2015, in Corpus Christi, TX. It was actually a show that was put together at the last minute for the WWE Network. That date was originally scheduled to be a regular live event.

The show was dropped at one point because of logistical issues with some arenas because it’s tough to hang a 10-ton structure with large scoreboards above the ring area. WWE had always been open to bringing back the concept if they could book the show in an arena that could accommodate them.

WWE announced on Sunday that WWE Fastlane will be taking place on March 2, 2017, in Milwaukee’s BMOP Harris Bradley Center.
As of now, these are the pay-per-views scheduled through September 2017:

Royal Rumble (January)
Elimination Chamber (February)
Fastlane (March)
WrestleMania (April)
Payback (April or May)
Extreme Rules (May)
Money In The Bank (June)
Battleground (July)
SummerSlam (August)
Clash Of Champions (September)

More shows will be added since they need 2 shows on most months.

WWE Bringing Back Elimination Chamber PPV This Month, Title Matches Confirmed For Elimination Chamber

Last night on RAW, WWE announced they are bringing back the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. It will be available exclusively on the WWE Network. It will take place on May 31st at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.

PWInsider reports that the decision to bring back the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view was made within the last few days. Talents backstage at RAW were surprised to hear the announcement.

One of the reasons WWE did away with the Elimination Chamber was due to the lack of arenas that would allow the setup of the Chamber when renovations to older arenas made it impossible for them to handle the structure.

WWE is running a live event that same night May 31st in Greenville, SC. John Cena, King Barrett and Rusev are advertised for that event but the card is subject to change. The event starts at 1pm EST so technically they could get some of the top Superstars to Texas for the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event.

WWE has confirmed that the newly vacated Intercontinental Title and the WWE Tag Team Titles will be decided inside the Elimination Chamber.

WWE also has confirmed that the WWE World Heavyweight Title and the United States Title will be defended at Elimination Chamber but not inside the Chamber.

Stephanie McMahon Explains Why WWE Dropped Elimination Chamber PPV

Stephanie McMahon and Booker T appeared on The Wrestling Compadres Slamcast and Stephanie explained why WWE decided to drop the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view and replace it with Fast Lane.

Stephanie said Elimination Chamber was dropped mostly due to the logistics of hanging the Chamber, which weighs more than 10 tons. Many arenas now feature large scoreboards above where the ring would be and they were facing issues with being able to hang the Chamber in some buildings.

Stephanie said WWE will still deliver with Fast Lane.

WWE Dropping Elimination Chamber PPV

WWE

Reddit user MetsFan4Ever, a former WWE employee who has broken several WWE stories in the past is reporting that WWE is planning to drop the Elimination chamber pay-per-view. He wrote the following:

“Word going around backstage this past Tuesday at the SmackDown tapings are that the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view will be no more. The early lead names going around to replace the Elimination Chamber name will be either WWE Fast Lane or WWE Fast Track.”

The reason is because there is only one WWE / World Champion right now. So they want to stay with the Rumble winner receiving the shot and have no Chamber even with the title holder in the match.”

He noted that he expects WWE to keep the Elimination Chamber Match around as a match for certain pay-per-views that call for it.
