Drew McIntyre Returns to the U.S. – SummerSlam Tag Match Locked In

Drew McIntyre is officially back on American soil, and his WWE SummerSlam 2025 status is no longer in question.

In a video shared on social media, McIntyre confirmed he’ll be teaming with Logan Paul at this year’s SummerSlam — putting to rest speculation about his availability. The clip also featured a cheeky dismissal of The Miz’s offer to step in as Logan’s new tag partner, with Paul responding to the idea with a definitive “hell no.”

McIntyre, never one to shy away from humor, joked that country music star (and apparent heel for the night) Jelly Roll tried to stop him from making the trip. But, thanks to Logan Paul’s connections, a private jet was dispatched to bring the Scottish Warrior back in time.

Now, the match is set: Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre will go toe-to-toe with the unlikely duo of Jelly Roll and Randy Orton in what’s shaping up to be one of SummerSlam’s most unpredictable showdowns.

Whether fans are tuning in for the celebrity crossover appeal, the ongoing tension with Orton, or just to see if Jelly Roll can hang in the ring, this tag team clash is bound to get people talking.

Backstage Report On WWE Star Drew McIntyre’s Travel Issues

With WWE SummerSlam just around the corner and marquee matches like Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena and CM Punk vs. Gunther already locked in, one of Night 1’s more buzzworthy bouts could be in jeopardy—thanks to a surprising real-world issue.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Drew McIntyre is currently stranded in the UK due to a passport mishap that prevented him from boarding his flight back to the U.S. McIntyre, who resides in Nashville, had traveled to England for a friend’s wedding, only to be blocked from flying home after he was unable to use his British passport.

The issue stems from travel restrictions that require U.S. residents to enter the country with an American passport, something McIntyre apparently didn’t have on hand. Though frustrating, WWE insiders reportedly believe the issue will be sorted out in time for the show. Still, with the clock ticking, concern is creeping in.

McIntyre himself took to social media to vent, posting a video filmed somewhere in the English countryside. “Does that look like an American scenic countryside? No! I’m in England still,” he quipped, clearly irritated but staying in character. The Scottish Warrior even threw some classic heel shade at his SummerSlam tag team opponent Jelly Roll, accusing the country star of pulling strings to keep him grounded.

“You realized when I took off my shirt on SmackDown, you went, ‘Oh my God, oh the horror, I’m screwed!’” McIntyre said, laying blame at Jelly Roll’s feet for sabotaging his training week. He then promised vengeance upon his return, finishing with a shot at the musician’s weight in typical villain fashion: “Eventually, you’re gonna gain all that weight back and look like one of these f***ers,” he said while pointing his camera at a herd of cows.

The planned match would see McIntyre team with Logan Paul against Randy Orton and Jelly Roll, in what WWE has marketed as a celebrity-laced showdown. While Logan Paul and Jelly Roll are expected to bring the entertainment factor, McIntyre’s real-life passport problems might delay—or even derail—the moment.

For now, it’s a waiting game. If Drew can resolve the travel snag, expect him to show up at SummerSlam angrier than ever—and ready to take it out on Jelly Roll.

Confirmation On Who Drew McIntyre Blames For His Royal Rumble Elimination Not Going As Planned

The Royal Rumble always brings surprises, but this year, one of the biggest stories came after the match, when Drew McIntyre stormed out of Lucas Oil Stadium, visibly frustrated. Reports quickly surfaced that McIntyre was upset about how his elimination played out, specifically blaming interference from another Superstar for throwing off the moment.

According to F4WOnline, McIntyre holds LA Knight responsible for the botched sequence, feeling that Knight “got in the way” and caused the planned angle with Damian Priest to lose momentum. Footage from the match fueled speculation among fans, with some initially pointing the finger at Logan Paul, but it’s now confirmed that Knight was the one involved.

This kind of real-life tension has often been turned into on-screen storylines in WWE, and there’s a possibility that McIntyre and Knight could be heading toward a rivalry leading into WrestleMania 40. The two have history dating back to their TNA days, and with Knight’s momentum cooling off in recent months, a feud with McIntyre could be exactly what he needs to climb back up the card.

However, McIntyre’s post-Rumble reaction suggests he’s not too happy with Knight at the moment, which could complicate things. If WWE wants to capitalize on this, they’ll need to get both men on the same page. Will we see their real-life frustration spill over into a heated WrestleMania program? Or will McIntyre push to move in a different direction?

McIntyre according to PWInsider, sources within the promotion have told them that the Scottish star will likely be moved to SmackDown with WWE’s transfer window that ended at the Royal Rumble

Either way, this is definitely a situation to watch as the Road to WrestleMania heats up.

Drew McIntyre Reportedly Storms Out of WWE Royal Rumble After Controversial Elimination

While WWE officials, including Paul “Triple H” Levesque, continue to celebrate a successful Royal Rumble weekend, not everyone left Indianapolis in high spirits. According to PWInsider, Drew McIntyre was visibly frustrated following his elimination from the Men’s Royal Rumble match, leading to a heated backstage incident and his abrupt exit from Lucas Oil Stadium.

What Happened in the Rumble?

McIntyre entered the match at No. 17 and found himself battling against longtime adversaries such as CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, and Sami Zayn. However, his night ended at the hands of Damian Priest, who eliminated the Scottish Warrior once all 30 entrants had made their way into the match.

According to PWInsider’s report, something about McIntyre’s elimination did not go as planned, leading to immediate backstage frustration. When he returned to the Gorilla Position, he was overheard “screaming and cursing”, allegedly upset that “someone had to get their moves in” at the expense of the match’s storytelling.

McIntyre’s Reaction: A Pattern of Frustration?

Rather than sticking around to watch the final moments of the Rumble, McIntyre stormed out of the arena before the match had even concluded. This incident echoes a similar situation from Survivor Series 2023, when he reportedly left the venue immediately after CM Punk’s shocking return.

It remains unclear who McIntyre was referring to in his post-match frustration, but his reaction highlights potential tension behind the scenes.

What’s Next for McIntyre?

With WrestleMania 41 now on the horizon, McIntyre’s current status raises several questions. Could this frustration impact his standing within WWE? Is this a sign of deeper creative frustrations? While McIntyre has been vocal about his contract situation in recent months, this latest outburst adds further intrigue to his future with the company.

For now, WWE is moving forward with Jey Uso as the 2025 Royal Rumble winner, while McIntyre’s next steps remain uncertain. Stay tuned to WrestlingNewsBlog.com for further updates on this developing story.

Backstage Update On Drew McIntyre’s WWE Return & Contract Status

Drew McIntyre made his return to WWE at Saturday’s Money In The Bank 2023 pay-per-view event and confronted Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER following the latter’s victory over Matt Riddle.

According to a report from Pwinsider, McIntyre’s contract expires in early 2024. As of now, contract talks are yet to commence as there is sufficient time left on the deal. McIntyre is reportedly unhappy with recent WWE creative and is also far apart on money with the company for a new deal. WWE could extend his existing deal to around WrestleMania next April.

While WWE wanted McIntyre to return at Money In The Bank 2023, the Scottish Psychopath demanded a strong storyline for his return and both parties finally reached an agreement in the final days leading up to the show.

McIntyre was reportedly in continuous communication with Triple H and was also dealing with some injuries that had piled up in the lead-up to WrestleMania 39.

WWE kept McIntyre’s return a well-guarded secret and both sides went particularly silent on the matter in the weeks leading into Money In The Bank 2023.

It’s believed McIntyre will challenge GUNTHER for the Intercontetnial Title at SummerSlam.

Backstage Update On Drew McIntyre’s WWE Status

Drew McIntyre announced on Monday afternoon that he was not medically qualified to compete at this week’s WWE SmackDown, where he was slated to team with Sheamus to challenge Undisputed Tag Team Champions The Usos.

In his statement, McIntyre promised to return soon because he doesn’t like missing shows. Butch will replace McIntyre in the match.

Drew McIntyre Reportedly Pulled From WWE Live Events Due To Injury

2022 has been rather unkind to pro wrestlers, putting the best of the best on the shelf for extended periods due to injuries. And just when you thought the injury bug was preparing to recede, it has threatened to raise its ugly head (or in this case, its back) yet again. According to multiple reports, Drew McIntyre is working through a lower back injury, which is why he was pulled from WWE’s live events at Atlantic City, NJ, and Salisbury, MD, over the weekend.

The story was first broken by Jason Powell of ProWrestling.net, who reported that McIntyre is currently dealing with “a lower back issue causing him soreness.” Subsequently, news outlets such as PWInsider and Fightful Select would confirm the report. Fortunately, all the reports noted that McIntyre isn’t expected to undergo surgery, his advertised match against Roman Reigns at Clash at the Castle is still on the table, and the decision to pull him from the live events is considered a precautionary move.

However, fans on social media are speculating whether the injury could alter WWE’s creative plans going into the match in Cardiff, Wales. Although Reigns is still the odds-on favorite to retain his unified world title, there’s been talk that McIntyre could be the man to dethrone the Tribal Chief in front of 70,000+ fans in his home nation of the United Kingdom. If that had indeed been the plan, WWE’s top brass could be forced to call an audible and keep the belts on Reigns, especially if they believe McIntyre’s injury would require surgery at some point in the future.

McIntyre is still expected to work the next two episodes of “WWE SmackDown” in the lead-up to Clash at the Castle on September 3.This past Friday, he called out the returning Karrion Kross for blindsiding him with a vicious attack the previous week, promising to send Kross “back to the dungeon he crawled out of.” Scarlett then walked down to the ring, distracting McIntyre enough to be jumped by The Usos. The segment led to a McIntyre/Usos handicap match, which was later changed to a tag team bout also including Madcap Moss, with McIntyre and Moss getting the win.

Drew McIntyre Reportedly Written Off WWE TV Due To Neck Issues

Drew McIntyre is reportedly suffering from a legitimate injury.

As noted, Saturday’s WWE Day 1 pay-per-view saw McIntyre defeat Madcap Moss in singles action. WWE later ran a backstage segment where Moss and Corbin attacked McIntyre during an interview. The attack ended with Moss and Corbin wrapping a chair around McIntyre’s neck, and then smashing it with a piece of lighting rig. WWE announced after the pay-per-view that McIntyre suffered a cervical neck strain with severe contusions during the backstage attack. It was also noted that upon further evaluation by WWE medical staff, McIntyre will have a follow-up with an orthopedic cervical specialist. There was some speculation on this being a storyline injury announcement, but now we know that there is more to it.

In an update, PWInsider reports that the Day 1 beatdown angle was done because McIntyre has been dealing with some legitimate neck issues for several weeks.

McIntyre now needs to undergo medical testing on his neck, which is why WWE wrote him out of the storylines as a way to be proactive about the situation.

There is no timeframe for McIntyre’s return to the ring, but there’s hope within WWE that his absence from the ring will be short-term. His status was described as “up in the air” until he gets checked out by doctors.

There’s been a feeling within WWE about how “insanely hard” McIntyre has been working in recent weeks, despite the issues with his neck. It was also noted how he’s pulled double duty at recent WWE live events on the annual Holiday Tour. One WWE source said McIntyre “went down swinging” to injury for the company.

McIntyre was seen leaving the State Farm Arena with a neck brace on after Saturday’s Day 1 pay-per-view.

Goldberg Issued Challenge To WWE Champion Drew McIntyre On RAW For Title Match At Royal Rumble

Goldberg has his sights set on the gold, and he made his intentions clear during a tense confrontation with WWE Champion Drew McIntyre.

It all went down on this week’s edition of Raw immediately following the main event between Keith Lee and Drew McIntyre.

Monday night was a special one. It was “Legends Night” after all, and there were plenty of legends on the show, including Hulk Hogan, Mark Henry, Big Show, I.R.S., Mickie James, Torie Wilson and others. But there was one legend who waited until the closing moments of the show to make his presence known.

After McIntyre’s hard fought victory over a valiant Keith Lee, Goldberg claimed that McIntyre doesn’t have any respect for legends. He then demanded a title match with McIntyre at the upcoming Royal Rumble event. Drew’s response was less than enthusiastic.

“Fighting you would be like fighting my own dad,” the champ said … and then things got out of hand.

The WWE Hall of Famer shoved McIntyre to the ground. Drew got back on his feet and the pair squared off as the show went off the air.

Check out the tense confrontation below.
