Report: Carmella’s WWE Contract Expires, No Longer with the Company

It looks like Carmella’s time in WWE has officially come to an end. According to Fightful Select, the former WWE Women’s Champion is no longer under contract with the company following the expiration of her deal.

Carmella’s WWE Journey Comes to a Close

Carmella, a former SmackDown Women’s Champion, Money in the Bank winner, and one of WWE’s most decorated female stars in recent years, last competed in March 2023. She had returned for a brief six-week run after an extended absence from the ring but had not been seen in action since.

Before that return, she had been off television for much of 2022. Since stepping away, Carmella has welcomed her first child and has been open about dealing with drop foot, a condition that affects mobility.

What’s Next for Carmella?

With her WWE tenure now seemingly over, fans will be curious about what’s next for Carmella. Will she step away from wrestling completely to focus on her personal life, or could a return to the ring elsewhere be in the cards? While nothing is confirmed, her experience and charisma would make her a valuable addition to any promotion if she decides to continue her career.

For now, one thing is certain—Carmella leaves behind a legacy as one of WWE’s most entertaining and versatile female performers of the past decade.

WWE’s Carmella & Corey Graves Announce Birth Of Their Son, Share First Pic

Former “WWE SmackDown” Women’s Champion Carmella has been out of action since March, later revealing that she and husband Corey Graves were expecting a child together. In some heartwarming news, the two performers have now jointly revealed on Instagram that their son, Dimitri Paul Polinsky, was born on November 8, 2023. Carmella noted that she was in labor for 60 hours, promising to reveal more about that at another time.

Carmella and Graves have been together since 2019, as documented in the ninth and final season of “Total Divas,” and were later married in 2022. Last year, Carmella opened up about experiencing an ectopic pregnancy as well as an early miscarriage in the span of just a few months. Although Graves has children from a previous marriage, this is the first child that the two WWE stars have had together.

Though “Total Divas” is no longer on the air, the pair’s relationship has been indirectly acknowledged onscreen in WWE over the last few years, primarily in the form of Graves commenting on Carmella whenever she would appear. Before getting pregnant earlier this year, Carmella had just made her return to WWE after some time away. The brief run most notably saw her compete in this year’s Women’s Elimination Chamber match. With her priorities certainly set on parenting her newborn baby, it will likely be a while before Carmella returns to wrestling, if she decides to come back at all. Graves is still on TV as a regular commentator for “WWE SmackDown,” appearing every Friday night.

Carmella & Corey Graves Expecting First Child Together

WWE superstar Carmella (Leah Van Dale) and husband Corey Graves are expecting their first child together. Speaking to Good Morning America Monday morning, the former “WWE SmackDown” Women’s Champion revealed she found out the news in March. This exciting announcement follows a revelation from this past October, when she opened up to the world about a previous miscarriage as well as a potentially life-threatening ectopic pregnancy.

Yet despite admitting to GMA that she’s been more tired than she’s ever been, Carmella couldn’t be happier, saying “But I’ve never been so happy to feel so awful.” The couple are expecting to welcome their baby around November.

WWE Star Carmella Shares Heartbreaking News About Ectopic Pregnancy And Miscarriage

WWE star Carmella shared a heartbreaking story to her social media accounts to close out Infant Loss Awareness Month.

On Monday, the 35-year-old revealed that she was treated for an ectopic pregnancy just weeks after miscarrying and spent 12 hours in the emergency room before receiving the devastating confirmation of an abnormal pregnancy. Concluding in her post

“I’ve gone back and forth with myself about posting this because I’m not looking for any sort of sympathy,” Carmella wrote, noting that she wanted to share her story in honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. “Today, I was treated for an ectopic pregnancy,” Carmella continued. “I never thought something like this would happen to me, especially after suffering from an early miscarriage in September.” Carmella says she spent 12 hours in the emergency room this past Saturday, after experiencing pain in her side.

“After several tests and ultrasounds, I was given the devastating news that this was, in fact, an abnormal pregnancy.” Carmella said that the moment can feel “isolating,” but she felt sharing her story to keep women from blaming themselves for the tragic occurrence, crediting popular stand-up comedian Iliza Shlesinger for inspiring her by sharing her own story of pregnancy loss in a recent standup special.

“I’m part of this statistic and it’s happening to me,” Carmella professed. “Again, I’m not looking for sympathy, I know I’ll eventually recover from all of this mentally, physically and emotionally. For anyone dealing with ANY type of pregnancy loss, I want you to know your feelings and emotions are valid, there is NOTHING wrong with you and you are not alone.”

Carmella has been married to WWE commentator Corey Graves (Matthew Polinsky) since April of this year.

Carmella Says She Was Forced To Slow Down Due To Recent Health Scare

Earlier on Wednesday Carmella took to her Instagram, discussing why she has not been as active recently in WWE. In her post, the former SmackDown Women’s Champion spoke about recently have a health scare, and how she was forced to slow down because of it.

“I recently had a health scare that shook my world. I was super apprehensive (still am) to post about it because I’m not looking for any sort of sympathy,” Carmella begins. “Instead, I wanted to share what this past month has taught me. You might find my perception to be trivial and unimportant, but these are my thoughts.

“For the first time in six years, I was forced to slow down. I’ve never had an injury with time off or anything of the sort since I started with WWE. I was able to slow down for a few weeks and just be. It opened my mind and my eyes to the world I didn’t notice for six years and allowed me to be present instead of worrying about the next thing on my to-do list.”

She adds that having time off has opened her mind to all the things she has been missing out on such has having downtime in real life and spending time with her loved ones. Additionally, she comments about how she is learning to stay away from social media, due to the increased negative backlash she and other wrestlers have been receiving online.

“I took a break from social media and it really allowed me to live in the moment and see what was right in front of me,” Carmella said. “I had conversations with people I would have normally never seen because my head would be buried in my phone. More importantly, social media is not real. The fact that I at one point or another would get bothered by a few crass comments made by presumptuous ill-mannered trolls makes me laugh now. It’s all so insignificant at the end of the day. Do these trolls care about my health and well being? Are they the ones who will be there for me when s–t hits the fan? Hell no. So why would I care what people on an app in my phone have to say about me?

“I spent time with the most important people in my life. In a world where I’m constantly on the road, I rarely get more than a few hours with those who matter most to me. I’m grateful I was able to spend so much time with my sister and my parents who are my world. I was also constantly laughing with my boyfriend who is the most supportive man on the planet. I truly don’t know what I would do without him.”

At the end of her post, she encourages others to try and be nicer to everyone they encounter, as well as to not second guess things they want to do or pursue in life.

“Things can and will go wrong, regardless of how healthy your lifestyle is,” Carmella states. “It’s important to feed our bodies with happy thoughts, clean and healthy foods and all of the positive vibes.

“Let’s all try to be a little better as humans. Everyone we meet is going through SOMETHING. Be nice. Life is short. Hug your family, laugh more, let the little things go, buy the shoes and drink the wine.”

Backstage News On Charlotte Flair Defeating Asuka For The SmackDown Women’s Title, Stars React To Their Women’s Title Opportunity Being Scrapped

On Tuesday night’s SmackDown Live, Charlotte Flair faced Asuka for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. It was a rematch of their WrestleMania 34 encounter, and Charlotte once again beat her, winning the title in the process.

Flair is now an eight-time champion. Originally, plans were for Ronda Rousey to defend the RAW Women’s Championship against Charlotte and Becky Lynch in the main event of WrestleMania 35. Now there are two champions in the match.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Charlotte winning the Smackdown Womens’ Championship wasn’t planned until the day of SmackDown Live.

The idea of Charlotte going into WrestleMania with a title has been talked about for a while, but the trigger was pulled last night.

All four scorned competitors took to Twitter afterward to vent their frustrations.

“I’m a very very patient person with a long fuse, but let me tell you when it blows, you won’t want to be the one in my way,” Sonya wrote. While her current frenemy Mandy claimed that WWE brass was “Putting all the equity in the wrong blonde.”

Carmella simply tweeted a expressionless emoji, followed by “Push through,” and Naomi just shared the word “Welp.”

Carmella became the longest-reigning Money In the Bank holder in WWE history this week. WWE announced the following on the milestone:

The Money in the Bank record book just became even more F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S.

After 281 days of moonwalking, trash-talking and keeping every single SmackDown LIVE female Superstar on her toes, Carmella has now held the Money in the Bank contract longer than anyone in WWE history. The Princess of Staten Island surpassed the likes of Edge, John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Kane and literally every other Superstar to hold the all-powerful contract. #MellaIsMoney has never rang truer, and, naturally, Carmella took to Twitter to proudly celebrate the milestone.

Paige – Total Divas Update, More On Split With Alberto Del Rio, SmackDown Star Added To Total Divas

Paige will not be appearing on the upcoming season of Total Divas. Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Carmella will be joining the cast, joining fellow newcomers Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax in replacing Paige, Renee Young and Eva Marie.

Paige has been on the cast of Total Divas since the third season, which premiered in September of 2014. Her last season on the series focused on her relationship with Alberto Del Rio, however that aspect was never pushed on WWE programming.

As we reported Paige and Del Rio broke up on Saturday night. Someone who saw the breakup said that Alberto reportedly said that “enough was enough” and that he reached his limit and knew that it was time to break up. Meltzer noted in the Observer that one of Del Rio’s close friends told him about the breakup, and that “it’s always possible they could get back together, but it did happen.” He added on Wrestling Observer Radio last night that while it could change, they were broken up as of Tuesday.

Paige has been out of action since suffering a neck injury in June of 2016. She was drafted to the RAW brand the following month but has yet to appear on the show. Since then she has had two Wellness violations. She has been training for a WWE return, and is expected to be back in action this summer.
