Becky Lynch On Wanting To Make Women’s Wrestling Cool Again, Calling Herself “The Man”, More

Becky Lynch recently spoke with Fanbyte to promote Sunday’s “Winner Takes All” WrestleMania35 main event against RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair.

The interviewer pointed to how Lynch has made wrestling, and women’s wrestling, cool again. She thanked them and said when she came to WWE NXT from Ireland, her goal was to make women’s wrestling cool again.

“When I came over [to NXT from Ireland], that’s what I said, I said I wanted to make women’s wrestling cool,” Lynch said. “I love this business, I love it so freaking much, I just want people to love it the way I love it, and if I can be entertaining to people, if I can get people to feel something about it—that means everything to me. This is the industry I love more than anything. This is the reason why I left [home] when I was freaking 15 and slept on couches and lived on $30 a show, you know?”

Regarding her nickname of The Man, Lynch said it’s not about gender and it’s not about belittling women.

“[It] makes people’s minds explode. Which is hilarious…” Lynch said. “It does get a few people backed up, which is good in itself. [But] it’s not about gender and it’s not about belittling women. I’ve been an advocate for women’s wrestling since I started. I’ve always wanted to change the game, that’s what I’ve been trying to do, and that’s what I’ve been doing.”

Lynch also talked about being a Horsewomen with Flair and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks and Bayley. She said she stopped dumbing herself down and that’s when she sparked a bit of fire in everyone else.

“With the Four Horsewomen when we started to break out, everybody wanted to see better from the other, instead of being competitive, you know, everyone wanted to step up their game,” Lynch said. “Everybody wanted to have the best match, everybody wanted to have the best reactions, and that helps everybody step up because nobody wants to be left behind. I think for a long time I used to dumb myself down because I didn’t want to outshine anyone or make anybody feel uncomfortable. And then once I stopped doing that and was like, no, you wanna get on my level, come meet me up here, I think it sparked a bit of a fire in everyone.”

Lynch continued and said her success is more about being yourself and being relentless in chasing your dreams. It was noted that her success is so special because it aligns with so many other people’s journeys.

“I guess it’s more about being yourself and being relentless in chasing your dreams,” Lynch said. “Don’t let anybody be the reason you’re dumbing yourself down and making yourself small, and go after what you want with no apologies.”

WrestleMania 35 Main Event – “Winner Takes All”, What Happen With Becky, Ronda & Charlotte On RAW?

Last night on RAW, Stephanie McMahon announced that the first-ever WrestleMania women’s main event triple threat match will now be Winner Takes All with both the RAW Women’s Championship and SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line. RAW women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair.

Stephanie said, “That’s right, one woman will bring home all the gold the grandest stage of them all. Because this Sunday at WrestleMania, three of the WWE’s greatest athletes will step foot in that ring. They will put their bodies on the line and leave their hearts and souls on the mat because this Sunday at WrestleMania, it’s WINNER. TAKES. ALL.”

Last night on RAW, Becky, Ronda and Charlotte had to team up against The Riott Squad with the stipulation that if one of them betrays the others in the match they would be removed from the WrestleMania main event match. Ronda picked up the win for them by submitting Liv Morgan with an armbar. As soon as bell rang, a huge brawl broke out. Police officers came out to the ring to stop Ronda, Becky and Charlotte, but the three wasn’t willing to stop. The three ended up fighting with the officers resulting in all three of them being arrested. Evan after being handcuffed they keept on fighting each other and the officers. They were placed into police cars with Ronda and Becky placed in the same car. They fought and kicked out the window. Becky was pulled out of one car but then she brawled with Charlotte, their hands still cuffed behind their backs. Ronda manages to get behind the wheel of one of the squad cars. She drove it into the back of another car. The police finally calmed things down somewhat as two cars are driven away with the sirens on, Ronda in back of one and Becky in the back of another. Charlotte was still resisting as they all watch the police drive away with Ronda and Becky in separate cars.

WWE announced a storyline update on Becky, Ronda and Charlotte:

Possible Stipulation To Be Added To Women’s Triple Threat WrestleMania Match?

On this week’s SmackDown, Charlotte defeated Asuka to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion, adding a new wrinkle to the upcoming triple threat match at WrestleMania 35 involving Becky Lynch and WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. Shortly after her win, WWE initially confirmed the triple threat match would still be only for the RAW title, but that could be changing.

On this morning’s Wrestler Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported the match could have a “Winner Take All” or “All On The Line” stipulation added to it, hearing two different names for the stipulation.

The basic idea would be if anyone pins another champion, they would become champion. If Lynch pinned either Rousey or Charlotte, she would become that brand’s champion. If Charlotte or Rousey pinned one another, they would become a dual champion.

The report pointed out things could easily change from today’s plan, and if anything is announced it would mostly likely be on Monday’s RAW.

Mick Foley Says Becky Lynch Has Become “The Biggest Name In Our Business”

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley recently spoke with Sky News and agreed with comparisons that have been made between Becky Lynch and WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin.

The interview was done before WWE confirmed Lynch vs. new SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs. RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey for the WrestleMania 35 main event, but Foley predicted that there would have been “huge unrest” from WWE fans if the match did not go on last. Foley said there would be “a mass exodus of people from around the world” if WWE did not put the women in the show-closer at WrestleMania this year.

Foley predicted an exciting main event of the biggest show of the year.

“I see it being an exciting match; Ronda is going out on a limb to create this really dislikeable persona and I think it works,” he said.

Regarding Lynch, Foley said he’s confident that she is the biggest Superstar in WWE today.

“I believe their time has come. Becky Lynch has succeeded in becoming the biggest name in our business and I think that’s great,” Foley said. “She’s a good friend, she’s a wonderful person and it couldn’t happen to a nicer lass.”

Foley also revealed how Lynch messaged him last year and asked for some advice as she was pushed into the main event scene. Foley told her to be patient and be ready.

“I go back to my messages about eight or nine months ago and when she came to me for some advice I told her to be patient and to be ready,” Foley revealed. “Then when she got the opportunity, she ran with it like nobody I’ve ever seen, like ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.”

Becky Lynch was reportedly offered a new WWE contract earlier this month.

It’s no secret that WWE officials have been trying to re-sign talents to new contracts as of late, ahead of their current contracts expiring.

WWE announced yesterday that Lynch will headline WrestleMania 35 in the main event match with Charlotte Flair and RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey.

WWE Announces Main Event Of WrestleMania 35

WrestleMania to feature first-ever women’s main event

For the first time in WWE history, a women’s match will be the main event of WrestleMania as the Raw Women’s Championship Match featuring Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch will take place on Sunday, April 7, in front of a capacity crowd at MetLife Stadium and streaming live on WWE Network around the world.

Ronda Rousey is the current Raw Women’s Champion, Olympic medalist, the first female UFC Champion and the first woman to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. She is also an actress and New York Times bestselling author. Charlotte Flair is a seven-time Champion in WWE, a former Division 1 volleyball player, philanthropist and author. She is the daughter of two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. Becky Lynch is the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble winner, a two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion and was named Wrestler of the Year by both Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports in 2018. She was also the first woman ever to top ESPN’s WWE Power Rankings.

At WrestleMania 32 in 2016, WWE re-branded the Divas Division the Women’s Division and unveiled a new Women’s Championship title. Since that time, the women’s evolution has placed a greater spotlight on WWE’s female Superstars, including more prominent storylines and deeper character development that showcases their athleticism, charisma and star power.

Last October, WWE held it’s first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view event, Evolution, in front of a sold-crowd and millions more watching on WWE Network.

Becky Lynch Calls Ronda Rousey A Fragile Fraud

The Twitter feud between Becky Lynch and RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey continued this week as they prepare to do battle with Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 35. As seen below, Becky fired a shot at Rousey and then called her a fragile fraud.

Becky wrote, “You thought you had this business all figured after giving me a few smacks on RAW, didn’t you? Delighted u were; couldn’t shut you up. Now look you’re back to being a fragile fraud. Bring all your smacks to WM, Ronnie, because where u wilt after a beating, I absolutely flourish.”

Backstage News On The RAW Women’s Title Feud, Ronda Rousey’s Attack On Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey Claims She Went Off Script

It’s no secret that WWE has made several changes to the storyline that will end with Becky Lynchvs. Charlotte Flair vs. RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35 next month. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there are more twists to come in the storyline.

There’s no word yet on what kind of twists WWE has planned but things should really heat up after Sunday’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view when the Triple Threat is made official. Fastlane will feature Lynch vs. Flair in singles action. Lynch will be added to Flair vs. Rousey at WrestleManiato make it a Triple Threat if she wins, but she will be “done” if she loses, according to Stephanie McMahon.

WWE could go a few different ways with the finish to the WrestleMania Triple Threat but the result largely depends on Rousey’s final date with WWE, according to the Observer. As we reported earlier this week, Rousey is currently scheduled to finish up the day after WrestleMania, indicating a big blow-off at WrestleMania or possibly RAW. It’s always possible that Vince McMahon talks Rousey into a contract extension, but we’ve heard nothing on that direction.

The Observer points to how all three Superstars have tried hard to make their physical angles look legit and more real than what we usually see in WWE. We noted before that Rousey wanted Lynch to hit her as hard as she could with the kendo stick during their angle at the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. Becky did just that and Ronda needed 7 stitches to close a cut on her elbow. Flair was also left with a bunch of bruises on her arm from the Chamber attack. Rousey also asked Flair to hit her as hard as he could, over and over, when recently taking kendo stick shots from her. Rousey wanted to have real welts, bruises and blood from the attack.

Regarding the attack from Rousey to Lynch on this week’s RAW, Rousey was told to do everything she would do in a real fight at real fight intensity, but no punches or kicks to Becky’s face, and obviously not to actually hurt her. There was still a stiff knee to the face. The idea was that Becky would take Rousey’s best punishment and still show up at SmackDown the next day to fight with Flair.

The physicality of things may have actually secured Lynch’s spot in the WrestleMania storyline as The Observer points to how Lynch getting injured by Nia Jax back in mid-November could have been the greatest thing that has happened to her, at least in terms of the RAW Women’s Title. Lynch was scheduled to lose to Rousey’s armbar in their Survivor Series pay-per-view match that was nixed due to the injury, which would have greatly reduced Lynch’s chances of being in the RAW Women’s Title match at WrestleMania.

Ronda Rousey is mad as hell and she’s not going to take it anymore.

In latest episode of Rousey’s video blog road diary, Ronda on the Road, the Raw women’s champion’s cuts a promo on going off script this past Monday. Rousey claims to not only go off script but also doubles down on breaking kayfabe in her promo.

“It wasn’t a promo. [WWE] gave me other things to say I didn’t f***ing say it,” Rousey said. “It’s not a promo. It’s not an act. I’m not going out there and doing their f***ing act anymore, I’m going out there and doing whatever the hell I want. And they can explain it however they want, but f***em. Everybody. WWE Universe included. I meant that I’m going to disrespect the sport that they all love so much. ‘Ohhhh don’t break kayfabe Ronda!’ Wrestling is scripted. It’s made up. It’s not real. None of those b****** can f***ing touch me. The end.”

The origins of this video date back to last week, when Rousey and Lynch went to war on Twitter. During that particular exchange, Rousey brought up the word ‘fake’ and it did not sit well with Lynch.

Not only did Rousey go off on wrestling fans and WWE, earlier in the video she admitted she hasn’t lost sight of Becky Lynch. Rousey brought up Lynch’s real name and then explained why she attacked her on Monday night.

“Becky pissed me off the most recently,” Rousey said. “You know what? I’m not going to even call her Becky. Rebecca Quinn talked s*** about my husband, and I told her I’d beat the f*** out of her next time I saw her. And guess what I beat the f*** out of her, didn’t I? It’s been building up in me since Survivor Series, 100%”

Becky Lynch takes on Charlotte Flair this Sunday at Fastlane. Rousey is advertised to appear at the event.
