Update On Becky Lynch’s Status With WWE As Contract Is Reportedly Set To Expire

Once again, Becky Lynch has become the talk of the wrestling world, and not just because she lost the WWE Women’s World Championship to Liv Morgan this past weekend at WWE King & Queen of the Ring. Instead, it’s because Lynch may be set to his the free agent market for the first time in years, as her contract with WWE is set to expire this weekend, with no new deal signed between her and WWE at this time.

At the moment, it appears WWE is preparing to be without Lynch for some time. PWInsider reports that Lynch is currently not slated to appear on any WWE events in the near future. This includes an upcoming live event Saturday in White Plains, New York, with those in WWE believing Lynch will not be part of the show, despite still be advertised for it.

This should not be taken as a sign that Lynch is out the door, however, as her and WWE are still said to be discussing a new contract that would keep the former eight time WWE Women’s Champion in the fold. The belief within WWE is that Lynch, who is believed to be seeking one of, if not the, largest contracts for a women’s wrestler in history, will ultimately remain with the promotion, and that she isn’t looking to go elsewhere.

If last night was Lynch’s last appearance on WWE TV for the next little while, it wasn’t the most pleasant of nights, as she was defeated by Morgan again in a rematch for the Women’s World Championship, held inside a steel cage. Fan footage from after “Raw” showed Lynch in an emotional state, adding to the speculation regarding her future.

Taking to X a half an hour after “Raw” went off the air, a fan posted video of Lynch sitting in the ring for nearly two minutes, trying to contain her emotions. She would finally get to her feet and quietly acknowledge the crowd with a wave before exiting the ring, stopping quickly to interact with a fan at ringside.

The video will surely get fans speculating on whether the former eight time WWE Women’s Champion was legitimately getting emotional about this potentially being her last match in WWE, or if she was selling the disappointment of a second straight defeat against Morgan.

Report: Becky Lynch’s WWE Contract Weeks Away From Expiration With No New Deal Signed

If WWE is planning to re-sign reigning Women’s World Champion Becky Lynch, they might want to do it soon. A new report from Fightful Select on Saturday claims Lynch has approximately three weeks left on her current deal, and as of this writing, she has not signed a new one.

The news comes less than a month after Lynch won the vacant Women’s World title in a 14-woman battle royal on “WWE Raw” and eight days after it was reported that Lynch’s husband, former World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, signed a lucrative new contract with WWE. Lynch had previously confirmed that her deal was up this summer and that she hadn’t been approached about a new one, but WWE’s new leadership under the auspices of TKO Group Holdings has been getting a lot of last-minute contracts drawn up lately, re-signing Rollins, Finn Balor, and Drew McIntyre over the last few weeks. Fightful reports that talks between Lynch and WWE have been ongoing, but nobody has put pen to paper yet.

Given Lynch’s stature in the company — she’s arguably the most popular female star in WWE history and the winner of the first women’s WrestleMania main event — one would assume WWE will make keeping her under contract a priority in the coming days. It’s also worth noting that Lynch is scheduled to defend her championship against Liv Morgan at King & Queen of the Ring on March 25, days before her deal expires.

Backstage Report On WWE Stars Seth Rollins And Becky Lynch Taking Some Time Off

Following the exciting events of WrestleMania 40, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque proclaimed that the company had officially entered into a new era. A pair of top stars can’t say the same, however, as they are reportedly expected to have a delayed entry in this new era.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins will be taking time off the road following his back-to-back performances at WrestleMania 40. The exact duration of Rollins’ hiatus is not yet known, although the hope, as of Monday, was that it would only last about four weeks (h/t Wrestling Observer Daily Update). Rollins last competed on night two of WrestleMania 40 as he unsuccessfully defended the World Heavyweight Championship against “The Scottish Warrior” Drew McIntyre. Rollins later appeared in the night’s closing contest, making good on his promise of being Cody Rhodes’ “shield” in his pursuit of capturing the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Rollins’ real-life counterpart Becky Lynch is also believed to be taking some off of WWE television. Lynch last wrestled in the opening contest of WrestleMania 40 night one. Much like Rollins, though, Lynch’s efforts proved to be unsuccessful as she suffered a loss to WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley. There is no word on how long Lynch may be away from television.

While there appears to be some answers regarding their imminent future in WWE, the long-term future of Rollins and Lynch still remains uncertain, as both their contracts are set to expire in June 2024.

Becky Lynch’s Autobiography Lands On New York Times Bestsellers List

Becky Lynch’s autobiography “The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl” is one the New York Times Best Sellers list.

Lynch is slated to challenge Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Title on Saturday at WWE WrestleMania 40. About the book:

This compelling and candid memoir from WWE superstar Rebecca Quin—a.k.a. The Man, a.k.a. Becky Lynch—delves into her earliest wrestling days, her scrappy beginnings, and her meteoric rise to fame.

Raised in Dublin, Ireland, in a devoutly Catholic family, Rebecca Quin constantly invented new ways to make her mother worry—roughhousing with the neighborhood kids, hosting secret parties while her parents were away, enrolling in a warehouse wrestling school, nearly breaking her neck and almost kneecapping a WWE star before her own wrestling career even began—and she was always in search of a thrilling escape from the ordinary.

Rebecca’s childhood love of wrestling set her on an unlikely path. With few female wrestlers to look to for guidance, Rebecca pursued a wrestling career hoping to change the culture and move it away from the antiquated disrespect so often directed at the elite female athletes who grace the ring. Even as a teenager, she knew that she would stop at nothing to earn a space among the greatest wrestlers of our time and to pave a new path for female fighters.

Culled from decades of journal entries, Rebecca’s memoir offers a raw, exclusive, and honest depiction of the complex woman behind the character Rebecca Quin plays on TV.

She took to Twitter to celebrate the achievement.

WWE’s Becky Lynch Explains Why Her Book Might Be Detrimental

Becky Lynch’s autobiography, ‘The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl,” will be released on March 24, and the former “WWE Raw” Women’s Champion has admitted that she has written a truthful account of her story. However, while that’s a positive for the reader, Lynch admitted it might be a negative for her.

“I’ve written very truthfully, maybe sometimes at my own detriment… I think people will appreciate the candidness of it, and I think it’s pretty funny,” she told “The Casual Podcast.” “I think it’s a pretty funny, hilarious read –- this is just me thinking I am hilarious, but I hope people enjoy it.”

Lynch has been open and honest within the book, to the point where she’s admitted to realizing she was the a**hole at times when recounting past stories. However, even though it has been an eye-opening experience at points, Lynch has also found the writing process to be one of the most rewarding periods of her entire life. She has become the latest professional wrestler to jump into the autobiographical world, taking after one of her idols, Mick Foley. Like him, she didn’t use a ghostwriter to tell her story, opting to do it herself, but she let Foley see an early manuscript.

“Actually, I had him to bounce things off; he was one of the first people to read it and give me feedback,” she revealed about Foley. “Then I implemented that and kind of almost changed it completely since he probably read it. Not completely, but really improved it to the point where now I am so proud of what I have.”

WWE Star Becky Lynch To Compete On Celebrity Jeopardy

Becky Lynch has been having some trouble around WWE as of late. Just last week, she lost the “NXT” Women’s Championship to Lyra Vaklyria at Halloween Havoc and has since found herself embroiled in an issue with Xia Li. But perhaps behind the “Jeopardy” podium, her fortune will turn around as she faces some very fresh competition.

Lynch will be involved with the latest “Celebrity Jeopardy” tournament, per Headline Planet, with her first appearance on the legendary trivia game show set for Wednesday, November 15. She has drawn “Home Alone” star and long-time wrestling fan Macaulay Culkin as well as comedian Rachel Dratch as her fellow contestants — with 27 celebrities in total making up this year’s field. The winner of this quarterfinal showdown will move on to the tourney semi-finals.

This may be Lynch’s first time participating on “Celebrity Jeopardy,” but she is no stranger to game shows in her lifetime. She had previously appeared in the short-lived sports-based game show “Game On” in 2020, battling Joel McHale of “Community” fame in one of its episodes. She was also a part of a special WWE episode of “Celebrity Family Feud” earlier this year, where she, Bayley, Natalya, Liv Morgan, and Alexa Bliss battled Lynch’s husband Seth Rollins, The New Day, and former WWE star Dolph Ziggler.

The former WWE Women’s Champion’s appearance on “Celebrity Jeopardy” continues the trend of WWE stars frequenting the game show circuit, following The Miz and Brie Bella’s on “The Wheel” last December and Xavier Woods on “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.”

Becky Lynch Defeats Tiffany Stratton, Wins WWE NXT Women’s Title For The First Time

Becky Lynch is one of the most decorated champions in WWE history, but last night on “WWE NXT,” she finally captured the one title that had eluded her.

Upon her return to “NXT,” Lynch was warmly welcomed by a sea of cheers from the WWE Universe. Once Tiffany Stratton appeared, Lynch shifted her focus to the prize at stake – the “NXT” Women’s Championship. Heading into her title defense, Stratton asserted herself as “the fastest-rising star within WWE right now.” Unfortunately for Stratton, that wasn’t enough to defeat “The Man.”

In a competitive closing contest, Stratton did her best to throw Lynch off her game, twice countering Lynch’s signature Manhandle Slam. In Lynch’s second attempt, Stratton reversed it with a roll-up. Lynch quickly bounced back though, evading Stratton’s third attempt at landing the Prettiest Moonsault Ever. In response, Lynch successfully nailed Stratton with a Manhandle Slam to secure the pinfall, and her first-ever reign as “NXT” Women’s Champion. With this win, Lynch is also now a Grand Slam Champion, having already won the “WWE Raw,” “SmackDown,” and Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Naturally, Lynch was ecstatic upon winning the title. Stratton, on the other hand, is now faced with the reality of her reign as champion ending at 108 days.

Becky Lynch Appears On WWE NXT, Will Face Tiffany Stratton Next Week

Becky Lynch is coming to the WWE NXT brand next week to challenge Tiffany Stratton for the NXT Women’s Championship.

On this week’s episode of WWE NXT, Tiffany Stratton successfully defended her NXT Women’s Title against Kiana James in the opening match.

Following Stratton’s win, Becky Lynch appeared on the TitanTron and congratulated Stratton on her win. Becky then went on to tell Tiffany that she’d see her next week in the main event with the NXT Women’s Championship on the line.

Becky Lynch Hits WWE Backstage Producer Who Cut Her Off Early With Her Music

One of the great things about, and pitfalls of, live TV is that anything can happen. And that was the case last night for Becky Lynch, who made her triumphant return to “WWE Raw,” only to find herself being interrupted by her own theme music while trying to cut a promo. Fortunately, Lynch dealt with the situation quickly backstage. Posting a video on her Instagram, the former WWE Women’s Champion was seen confronting the culprit who played her music too early. While the problem seemed resolved, an angry Lynch proceeded to nail the sound guy with a forearm, sending him flying back into his seat.

It’s understandable why Lynch was so upset, given that this was her first appearance on “Raw” in nearly a month. “The Man” hasn’t been seen since she was betrayed by Trish Stratus on April 10, following her and Stratus dropping the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. Despite being champions with Lita, Lynch defended the titles with Stratus after Lita was unable to compete due to a backstage attack, which Stratus later confessed to. While Lynch has returned to TV, Lita has not been seen since.

Since the betrayal, Stratus has made several appearances on “Raw” making harsh comments towards Lynch, including last night when she brought up Lynch’s two-year-old daughter. While no match between Stratus and Lynch has been announced, it would appear the two are well on their way to colliding in the ring in the near-distant future.

Trish Stratus Coming Out Of Retirement For Match At WWE WrestleMania 39

Trish Stratus will officially come out of retirement at WrestleMania 39, joining forces with WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Becky Lynch and Lita in a six-woman match against Damage CTRL. The match was made official on this week’s “WWE Raw” where Lita and Lynch thanked Stratus for helping them even the odds in their rivalry against Bayley & Co.

Stratus stepped out and told Lita “I’ll always have your back” and that it was a pleasure to watch her win gold with “The Man.” At this point, Damage CTRL confronted the three women in the ring.

“You two [Lita and Stratus] are legitimately the reasons why we are in this ring right now,” Bayley said, thanking the Hall of Famers for their contributions to the business. “That said, the three of us [Damage CTRL] are going to be the reasons you never come back!”

At this point, Stratus referenced her promo from “Raw” last August, where she teased stepping out of retirement.

“I warned I could go real quick from ‘I am retired’ to ‘I was retired,'” Stratus reiterated. “I couldn’t think of a better place to shut your mouth up than at the Grandest Stage of Them All!”

Stratus then looked at the WrestleMania sign and issued the challenge to Damage CTRL.

Bayley immediately accepted the challenge, something that seemed to upset IYO SKY and Dakota Kai. Thereafter, Stratus and Lita delivered tandem offense to throw SKY and Kai out of the ring, leaving Lynch and Bayley to come face-to-face in the ring. The segment ended with an upset Damage CTRL retreating from the ring.

It remains to be seen if Damage CTRL implodes at WrestleMania 39, seeing as WWE teased some tension between the trio on Monday’s show.

Stratus had previously retired following her loss to Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam 2019 in her hometown of Toronto. Subsequently, Stratus teased the possibility of unretiring for a match against Lynch, especially when Lynch was portraying her “Big Time Becks” heel persona. Stratus would also get physical at a pair of WWE live events last August, coming to the aid of Alexa Bliss and Asuka during their rivalry with Damage CTRL. As such, the news of Stratus coming out of retirement has been widely expected and is not surprising in the least.

Besides the aforementioned six-woman match, the confirmed lineup for WrestleMania 39 includes Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes, John Cena vs. Austin Theory, Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair, Asuka vs. Bianca Belair, Brock Lesnar vs. Omos, and Logan Paul vs. Seth Rollins. Other rumored matches include Bobby Lashley vs. Bray Wyatt, Edge vs. Finn Balor, Rey Mysterio vs. Dominik Mysterio, and Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens vs. The Usos.
