WWE Roster Cuts Continue: Gallows & Anderson Among Latest Releases

WWE’s latest round of talent cuts extended into the weekend, with more names being confirmed as released from the company. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, known collectively as The Good Brothers, were let go, according to PWInsider, with Fightful later verifying the news. Additionally, Fightful also reported that Giovanni Vinci had been released as well.

These releases follow a string of cuts that began on Friday night, with Isla Dawn, Blair Davenport, Sonya Deville, The Authors of Pain (Akam & Rezar), their manager Paul Ellering, and Cedric Alexander all parting ways with WWE.

Elektra Lopez, the manager of the stable Legado Del Fantasma, was released from WWE this weekend following a four-year run with the company.

While WWE has yet to provide an official reason for the roster changes, Fightful reports that sources within NXT believe the moves are tied to an upcoming wave of main roster call-ups. With WrestleMania season approaching, WWE frequently shakes up its rosters, and this could indicate fresh talent from NXT is about to get the spotlight on Raw and SmackDown.

The releases of Gallows and Anderson are particularly notable, as the duo had long been associated with WWE’s Bullet Club-adjacent faction, The O.C., alongside AJ Styles. Their return to WWE in 2022 was expected to be a long-term run, but it appears their time with the company has once again come to an end.

Notably, Anderson is out with an injury with a torn labrum and rotator cuff; he had surgery in November and used the word “indefinitely” in a December interview before setting a return expectation of “at least six or seven more months.” Fightful gave his recovery time as “at least 3-6 months minimum” and noted that Anderson is “in good spirits” despite the highly unusual practice of being released during injury rehab.

As always, the wrestling world will be watching to see where these released superstars land next. Could we see some of them in AEW, TNA, or NJPW? Only time will tell.

Gallows and Anderson Reportedly Agreed To A Deal With Impact Wrestling, Plus Will Work For NJPW

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows have reportedly come to terms on a deal with Impact Wrestling. The deal would allow “The Good Brothers” to wrestle on Impact as well as New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Former WWE Superstars Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are expected to work for New Japan Pro Wrestling and one group here in the United States.

As we’ve noted, Impact Wrestling recently released a teaser for their July 18 Slammiversary pay-per-view, which included shots of several of the recently released WWE Superstars – Drake Maverick, EC3, Eric Young, Mike and Maria Kanellis, Curt Hawkins, Gallows and Anderson, plus a Bulgarian flag for Rusev. We know at least one of those wrestlers will not be appearing for Impact as Drake re-signed to work the NXT brand.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that some wrestlers shown in the promo have not agreed to appear for Impact. There’s no word yet on which of the wrestlers have agreed to appear at Slammiversary.

Regarding Gallows and Anderson, nothing is final but NJPW is probably where they will end up. It was noted that Gallows and Anderson will likely work for NJPW and then for a promotion here in the United States in between NJPW tours.

The 90-day non-compete clauses from these WWE contracts will expire on Wednesday, July 15.

Karl Anderson took to Instagram this week to post a photo of his fellow “Good Brother” Doc Gallows who is in more leaner, muscular shape and shown wearing an Impact Wrestling tank top. Anderson captioned the post by writing, “damn @the_biglg how much s–t are you on? @talknshoppodcast @the_biglg @azucarroc #TalkNShopAManiaTapings.”

Anderson and Gallows have reportedly come to terms on a deal with Impact Wrestling. The deal would allow “The Good Brothers” to wrestle on Impact as well as New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Gallows and Anderson recently also posted a photo of themselves with The Young Bucks.

It was also reported that Gallows and Anderson have already filmed content for Impact Plus, which is the on-demand streaming service that Impact launched in May 2019. It is not clear if they will be making an appearance on Impact’s upcoming PPV, Slammiversary, which will take place on July 18.

“TalkNShopAMania” is confirmed for August 1 on Fite TV. Gallows is also scheduled for an indie show on July 25th in Georgia.

Luke Gallows’ wife, independent wrestler Amber O’Neal Gallows, didn’t appear to be too happy with the segment on RAW last night between Dana Brooke, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. In the segment, Gallows and Anderson enlisted the help of Nurse Brooke for their match against The New Day and Bayley. Amber replied to a fan and Twitter about her thoughts and posted a series of tweets ripping on Dana, that have since been deleted:

I will kill a b—h t.co/Gt6rqCDRgR— Amber O’neal Gallows (@amberoneal1) August 30, 2016

Actually let me rephrase that…. I would kill a b—h if I cared enough to do it but in this case…..I’ll just let them have her.. #trash— Amber O’neal Gallows (@amberoneal1) August 30, 2016

Well once I thought about it.. #misspiggy is a much better fit for him….t.co/jiVbIbIzrK— Amber O’neal Gallows (@amberoneal1) August 30, 2016

Dana Brooke responded to Amber’s Twitter tirade, simply writing:

Amber seemed to pull back a little, and posted the following before deleting all of her tweets:

AJ Styles Turns Heel On John Cena – The Club Still Together

In case you missed last night on RAW – AJ Styles turned heel on John Cena and The Club (Styles, Gallows & Anderson) are still together. The Club gave Cena a big beatdown. Below is the video:

Gallows & Anderson Make In-Ring Debut On RAW, Theme Music, Comments On Debut

The new theme song for Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson is titled “Omen In The Sky.”WWE has released the audio on YouTube:

Anderson & Gallows Finally Made Their WWE RAW Debut

The Usos defeated Curtis Axel and Heath Slater last night on RAW to advance to the second round of the new tag team tournament. After the match, they were attacked by a debuting Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. The former IWGP Tag Team Champions destroyed The Usos in and out of the ring as fans cheered them on with chants of Bullet Club. Gallows and Anderson came through the crowd and left over the barrier, taunting The Usos.

Apparently Doc Gallows will be using the name Luke Gallows, a name used in a prior stint with WWE in November 2009 – November 2010. Gallows also previously appeared in WWE 2007 – 2009 as Festus.

There is no word if Anderson & Gallows will be given a tag team name besides their names. Although by the reaction of the crowd, knowing full well of them being part of Bullet Club in NJPW, they most likely won’t be using that name due to the fact that NJPW owns the right to the name.

Here is video of their debut on RAW:
