WWE Officially Announces Tribute To The Troops 2016

WWE has announced that the 2016 Tribute to The Troops will take place on Tuesday, December 13th from the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. WWE issued the following:

WWE Tribute to the Troops comes to Washington, D.C.

WWE today announced that the 14th annual WWE Tribute to the Troops event will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Verizon Center in Washington D.C., marking the first time the event will be held in our nation’s capital.  While in D.C., WWE Superstars will spend time with members of all five branches of the military.  WWE began Tribute to the Troops in 2003 as a way to honor our servicemen and women and their families. Tribute to the Troops will air on Wednesday, Dec.14 on USA Network.

In the long-standing tradition of the USO supporting and entertaining our troops at home and abroad, WWE brings together the best of sports, entertainment and pop culture, with celebrity appearances and performances from music’s most popular acts. Tribute to the Troops has become a holiday tradition and is considered TV’s most patriotic and heartwarming show of the year.

While in Washington D.C., WWE Superstars will spend time giving back to military personnel and their families.  Activities will include a Be a STAR anti-bullying rally, as well as hospital visits and outreach initiatives at various installations throughout the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.  Additionally, servicemen and women and their families will be given complimentary tickets to attend Tribute to the Troops.

“We are so excited to partner with WWE on Tribute to the Troops, an event that truly has become a holiday tradition for our service members and their families,” said Elaine Rogers, President and CEO of USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore. “What better way to thank our active duty military members and their families for their service than by providing them with an amazing evening of fun and entertainment.”

“First I would like to thank the USO and WWE for all the support they have given our servicemen and women,” said Maj. Gen. Bradley A. Becker, Commander, Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington.  “The National Capital Region is the political and military center of gravity for the United States with an infrastructure vital to the global interests of the nation, and I believe is an ideal location for the upcoming Tribute to the Troops because of the large number of military personnel and their families that live and work in the DC-Metro area. I know that our service members are big fans of WWE and are excited to participate in this wonderful event.”

“For the 14th year, WWE is honored to give back to American military personnel and their families for their commitment to and sacrifice for our country,” said WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon.  “Our servicemen and women work tirelessly and selflessly for our freedom, and it is an honor to continue the Tribute to the Troops tradition for them this year in our nation’s capital.”

WWE Network Looking Into Adding ROH And TNA Content – Four Tiered Pricing System

Via Wrestling Observer / Wrestling News Source

WWE is doing marketing research regarding adding a possible tier-based system for the WWE Network. It’s not a for sure thing at this time, but WWE is very strongly looking into a four-tiered pricing based system where there would be free access to the network at last, but with a catch.

The free tier would include video clips (5 minutes or less),the video archive, and you can only watch up to 5 hours per month. It would also include commercials and would be available on all devices. The free tier also includes the live stream but they would black out the pay-per-views, NXT and the Cruiserweight Classic, though.

The very first paid tier would be $4.99/month, you’d be getting the “Big Four” PPV events (So stuff like the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series). NXT wouldn’t be available on the live stream but you would have access to NXT on-demand thankfully. You would also get limited commercials and would only be available on phones and tablets.

The $9.99 tier would be the same content that they already do right now, but it would have limited commercials and it would be available on every device. Along with that you’ll get weekly episodes of the Cruiserweight Classic as well. It looks like the CWC will be returning but not as a tournament on a yearly basis.

The final $14.99 tier would include footage of other promotions, and there would be zero commercials. Any fan would also get perks like early ticket access to events, offline content downloads, small group online chat, 2nd screen content and invites to in-person VIP meet-ups. WWE specifically mentions TNA and ROH as possible promotions that you’d be able to see in the $14.99 tier. This price tier includes everything from the other tiers plus the perks and content from independent promotions.

Chris Jericho Makes Big Donation To Rico Constantino Health Fund

rico constantino chris jericho donation gofundme health problems wwe wrestler wrestling

A GoFundMe page has been set up in support of former WWE Superstar Rico Constantino … and the fund has grown considerably today thanks to a sizable contribution from Chris Jericho.

Jericho — using his real name — donated $3,000 to the fund, which was established to help Constantino pay for medical expenses, as he’s recently been dealing with serious health problems.

According to the GoFundMe’s description, Rico has visited the doctor five times and was forced to stay twice. It also says he has two leaky heart valves, two blood clots, and traumatic brain issues — which they claim is due to his time in the ring.

Constantino is hoping to raise $10,000 in total. At present he has raised $5,696.

Becky Lynch Not Competing Tonight At WWE No Mercy

It was confirmed at WWE No Mercy tonight that SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch is unable to compete. Shane McMahon mentioned that a non-physical health issue is keeping her out of the ring. Tyson Kidd Injury Update, In-Ring Career Is Likely Over

Tyson Kidd noted on social media this week that he is still not able to feel or move his head like he used to but he is still focused on his recovery. Kidd was injured during a dark match with Samoa Joe on 6/1/15 and has not wrestled since then. He ended up getting C1-C2 spinal fusion surgery.

https://twitter.com/KiddWWE/status/783122083924602880

The injury was actually a lot worse than the public knew and doctors told him that he could have been killed and there was 95 percent chance of death. If he lived then he should have been paralyzed. In a sense, he’s incredibly lucky to be alive and not be paralyzed but his in-ring career is essentially over.

It’s still not known exactly what went wrong but Joe has done the muscle buster hundreds (maybe thousands) of times and, to my knowledge, never hurt anyone. Bret Hart did interviews saying that Kidd and Joe were rushed out to do a quick match without being able to warm up. Cesaro did an interview last month and flat out said that there are a couple of moves that should be outlawed in WWE and one of those moves is Joe’s muscle buster.
